Sokka the 35th - [Action/Written]

[It had been an unusually quiet day at the ~~Walton~~ Avatar house. Last night they had all exchanged their good nights. This morning they had all had breakfast together. But when dinner came around, one of their number was conspicuously absent. Electing himself to go yell at their time-dislocated buddy to come and eat. He didn't suspect anything, after all. Roku's staff was sitting off in a corner from when he came in earlier. But when Sokka knocked on the door and received no answer, he proceeded to push the door open...

And saw a sight he had seen before. An empty room. Back to the way it was when they first moved in, save for the paint on the walls. With a sigh, Sokka steps aside so Katara can see. This... this isn't going to be easy.

Hours later, Sokka will leave a message on the journals about it, opting to stick with writing to make things easier.]

Hey everyone. It looks like Roku lucked out and went home. Since he didn't get a chance to say it himself, thanks to everyone who was there for his birthday and stuff. You don't have to worry about him, though. He's got a big important future and is going to live to be an old man with kids. He'll even have statues in his honor. So yeah. ~~Still gonna miss him though.~~

[Sokka sounds worn out, like he's just been swinging his sword at things for the last two hours. Which is exactly what he's been doing.]

I'll be fine. [It's Katara he's worried about.]

[Well, that's her second question.] How's Katara and Toph doing?

[He sighs.] ... about how you'd expect.

[Well. She could do with not staring down at a comatose best friend all day.]

Okay if I come over and say hi in a little while?

If you want. Um, maybe wait a while. Looks like Mayoi is bringing... muffins. [It's all very significant if you had been there.]

[...well, she kinda gets the gist of that, if not the significance, given who left the day before. So there's a sigh.]

I'll drop by after dinner.

Uh, sure. Seeya then.

[Sokka is hanging close to the house anyway. Or rather, on top of it. It's all the same, really.]

[Well, she'll turn up at the house just before sunset, kinda...trudging a little. And probably not noticing him if he's on the roof. Not straight away, anyway. Heading for your front door. |D]

[After polishing off his muffins with Mayoi, he's back on the roof.]

Hey Nami. I'm up here.

[And pausing to glance up. Roofs are fun to lurk on, aren't they?]

Hey, Sokka.

[Hesitating a second. Then eh. She'll come up to you. |D]

[That actually surprises him. He was ready to jump down and everything. But this works too. Once she's up there though, he has to ask:]

How's your friend? [He doesn't know Noel, but he's seen her with Nami before. And he's got a general idea of what happened, so...]

[Luckily she came prepared for awkward questions and thus is able to answer that with a shrug that's just a hair off casual.]

She's recovering. Give her a few days and she'll be good as new.

Oh. Well that's good. [He doesn't know what else to say about it. He feels bad he didn't volunteer to fight. Even though he heard someone died.

But he knows that where this is inevitably leading is to him. Or Katara. He'd just as soon stick to something else.] So uh. Turns out Zoro forgot about your wedding. [This is totally relevant.]

[She's familiar with that sort of subject dodging. And to be honest, she's okay with it. She came to offer company, not the third degree.

Oh, but hold the phone--]]

Zoro forgot?

[Of course he did.]

[Ohohohoho.]

Well, I hope you filled him in.

I think he took it well. [Rarely has Sokka seen so many emotions cross a person's face in the matter of second.] At least he apologized for the whole tying me up thing.

[He can't help but realize how long ago that was.]

[Pffft. She wishes she could have seen that.] Well, I suppose I should talk to him about it now he's been fully informed. [And how. And her thoughts are going much the same place, really.] ...wow, that was six months ago.

Yeah... Katara wasn't even here, back then. [In a strange way, before Katara had come, he had though of Luceti as a quirky little vacation that wouldn't last long. It had long since passed that point.] Probably for the best. She'd probably cry at weddings.

[Yyyyeah, she kinda liked Luceti when she first got here, too.]

Hmm, I'm not so sure she'd cry at mine. Not when the bride and half the guests are there by force. I think her arrival there would be kind of ...impressive.

I don't think Brook was there by force. [In fact, Brook seemed pretty cool with the whole thing. He even gave Sokka something to drink while tied up, which was mighty decent of him.] You know, I almost miss the experiments. [They were so much better than the four months that followed the last one.]

...oddly, a lot of people say the experiments are bad news. But so far the two I've seen have been pretty harmless.

Well, the last one was an invasion of privacy. But still.

And Brook probably thought the whole thing was hilarious. I never did get him back for that.

[He nods at that. The love experiment was awkward. But the drinking party... it was fun. He feels stupid about it, but it was still kind of nice.] You know, maybe the Malnosso gave us all the bad guys because they ran out of nasty experiments to use.

Maybe you could uh, kick him in the head or something. [Sokka is curious how exactly you manage to get your foot that far up, you know.]

Maybe. I hope that doesn't mean they're thinking up nasty experiments now they've started sending some of them home.

[Oh well done, Nami. You brought it full circle back to that subject.]

If they do, I guess that means Roku was lucky enough to avoid them, then. I don't think he ever got to experience any experiments.
