[It had been an unusually quiet day at the ~~Walton~~ Avatar house. Last night they had all exchanged their good nights. This morning they had all had breakfast together. But when dinner came around, one of their number was conspicuously absent. Electing himself to go yell at their time-dislocated buddy to come and eat. He didn't suspect anything, after all. Roku's staff was sitting off in a corner from when he came in earlier. But when Sokka knocked on the door and received no answer, he proceeded to push the door open...

And saw a sight he had seen before. An empty room. Back to the way it was when they first moved in, save for the paint on the walls. With a sigh, Sokka steps aside so Katara can see. This... this isn't going to be easy.

Hours later, Sokka will leave a message on the journals about it, opting to stick with writing to make things easier.]

Hey everyone. It looks like Roku lucked out and went home. Since he didn't get a chance to say it himself, thanks to everyone who was there for his birthday and stuff. You don't have to worry about him, though. He's got a big important future and is going to live to be an old man with kids. He'll even have statues in his honor. So yeah. ~~Still gonna miss him though.~~

Well, that's three people in quick succession for you guys. That has to hurt a lot.

It happens to everyone here. [You just have to open your journal to hear someone informing villagers someone went home.] And nobody is coming here. So maybe it's just a matter of time for us.

...yeah, I've been wondering about that, actually. Catherine said they'd found a way of sending a whole bunch of us home a way back, and now this...

I can't say I'll miss the place, if that's the case. Though I'll miss some of the people.

Yeah. But... we won't. Because we won't remember to miss anybody. [And nobody going home will miss them. Roku won't even know Sokka and Katara ever existed. Well, he will, through Aang. But that's different.]

...also a point. I'm not sure how to feel about that, either.

Luceti is just plain weird.

I'm just worried they'll send me home before Katara. [He could handle it. He'd be happy for Katara, going home. He'd miss her. But she'd be home and safe, which would be good. But he doesn't think it would work so well the other way around.]

[...ouch.]

That would be hard, yeah. But...there's nothing you can really do, I think. Unless you ask Catherine outright not to send one of you home unless you can send the other.

Yeah. I guess. [But this is depressing and talking about depressing stuff gets Sokka down.] Thanks for coming, though.

No problem.

[He gets to his feet.] I should probably go back in.

Sure.

...is Katara home?

[He nods.] I don't think she left.

I'll come say hi just for a bit then. If that's okay.

Alright. [He goes ahead and hops off the roof. It's okay, because all of the cool people in town do it, so Sokka has to do it too. He heads to the door to go inside, waiting on Nami.]

[And Nami will hop off the roof just the same, for she is a Shounen Heroine and they do it on a regular basis. Following in your wake, Sokka.]

[Damn you Shounen heroes, stealing all the good jobs. Since Katara isn't out in the open, he goes over to her door and gives the door a knock.]

[The worst part about breaking things is cleaning them up. And then wondering how you're going to explain needing a new stool. It's not like her to be so wasteful, especially with wood, and she can hear herself lecturing herself in the back of her mind as she carefully cleans up the splinters of wood. It's almost soothing to be doing something brainless and productive.]

Come in.

[Sokka pushes the door open and his eyes dart around, taking note of the mess and Katara herself.]

... Nami dropped by. She wanted to say hi.

[...and she couldn't have stayed outside a little longer? Cornered. But she can't help but be warmed at the fact that Nami came. She runs a hand through her hair.]

All right. [Small smile.] Thanks, Sokka.

[Sokka feels a little relieved to at least see something of a smile there. But with that, he steps back, gives a nod to Nami, and heads off into the kitchen to poke around for something to eat. You ladies have at it.]

[And Nami gives Sokka a friendly wave and steps into the room. And doesn't look around at the mess, but instead leans on the door as she shuts it behind her, giving Katara a warm smile.]

[The mess is currently limited to the busted stool for the vanity, which is in a pile in the middle of the floor, leaving Katara's sparse room without any place to sit except the bed. There's a small, neat pile of presents in the corner, the largest of which is Winry's fountain, because she hasn't found a nightstand for it yet. It rests on top the stone box she had Toph make, to hold the more precious gifts in a place where they'd be safe from fire, is rooted to the ground - also at her request.]

Hey, Nami. Come on in. Sorry about the mess. You can sit on the bed, if you like. [Her voice is pleasant, and tired.]

All right. [And she hesitates briefly before crossing to the bed, sitting down casually with one foot hooked up into her lap. She's familiar with this kind of temper tantrum-- honestly, Katara, you remind her of herself more with every passing day. :| So that being said:]

I won't stay long. Not unless you'd like me to.

[Katara shrugs.] I'm a little tired.

[Mildly.] I can see why.

[Action]
