Sokka the 17th - [Voice/Action]

[So after going around breaking hearts and fighting evil demons, Sokka has found a new hobby to get his mind off of how annoying Luceti can be. That hobby? Cooking!

Surprisingly enough, despite the fact he's used the smithy as his personal kitchen for the past few days, Sokka has managed to complete a batch of eel jerky (or rather, a dish of mán xiāng consisting of salt cured eel) that actually doesn't taste absolutely horrible. It's nothing exceptional, but it is rather tasty. He's set out a plate of the stuff in the smithy, along with some vinegar bowl in a display that looks nowhere near as nice as this picture. At the very least it looks edible. Anyone who for whatever reason decides to drop by the smithy today are more than welcome to try some of Sokka's latest cooking experiment. Otherwise he's going to be inviting people over the journal.]

Hey Sanji, Brook! I finished the eel jerky I told you about. If you want to drop by you can have some. Anyone else who wants some can drop by too, but it probably won't last long if everyone does, though.

At the new grocery store! I think it may have better selection than the old one.

All that, and the store grew back the next day. [Yes, she's a little amused. Except not as much, because Aku - still scary. And there were people inside the store. Still, nothing like the fresh taste of irony in the morning.]

This place is so weird, Sokka. And you -- why are you making jerky?

I'd like to see his face when he finds out, if he hasn't already.

Well it's an interesting story actually! But the short version is, I was just going to make fish bait. Then I realized there probably wasn't many carnivorous fish in the lake. And then I decided that when sampling my first batch, that it wasn't that bad and with a little work, might taste better.

Yeah, me too. [From a safe distance.] ...we should probably talk to that girl who made him run away. Do you know her?

...you decided to make it out of fish bait? Sokka, when are you going to learn not to just stick everything in your mouth!

Not a clue. But I did know Adell, who was with her. I'll ask him next time I see him.

No, I made eel into fish bait, then decided to make it into food. That's completely different!

[And she nods. She doesn't want to talk anymore about it over the journals.]

Says the guy who stuck buzzardbee honey in his mouth.

That was experimentation. Notice if you will that no one else ate the buzzardbee honey after I determined it to be inedible.

[Gah, don't say that word!]

No one else was crazy enough to eat the buzzardbee besides you anyway, Sokka!

No, I'm pretty sure they were just waiting for me to make sure it was safe first. Team work, Katara. It's what we do.

I'm surprised you even remember enough to say that, considering all the friendly mushrooms you were seeing.

Oh come on, I was practically coherent by then.

Anyways, are you going to come over to try some eel or are you still shopping for paint?

Mmm, kinda in the middle of something. Save me some, and I'll be over later.

...how'd you know I was shopping for paint anyway?

Gee, I don't know, Katara. Could it be the message you left on the journal that anyone in town can listen in on?

Everyone who spoke to me through the journal wanted to know what I was doing with the colors because I never once mentioned paint!

I may have overheard some of the conversations while I was cutting the food.

...were you spying on me?

Please. I listen on tons of other conversations. [Nash isn't his role model for no reason! But yes, mostly just yours.]

...there's something wrong with you. [Not that she doesn't do the same exact thing. And this is why you're not getting more of a fit.]

[Sokka will hear disgruntled muttering as the journal is closed. Sometime after her conversation and meeting with Nami, Katara will head on over to the smithy. (It might be fairly late.)]

[Well in that time, Sokka will have entertained a few more people and then headed into the back of the smithy to start working on Brook's sword. When he ears Katara come in though, he'll head to the front. Marvel, if you will Katara, at seeing Sokka actually doing work in the smithy. It doesn't happen often!]

Oh, there you are.

[She'll hear the sound of work as she approaches and enter with preemptive curiosity.]

Whatcha making?

[Sokka will wipe off some of the sweat from his brow as he comes in.]

Fixing, actually. Brook's sword got banged up in that battle, so he needed some repair work done.

[markofthebrave]

[She nods. There's nothing strange in the fact that someone would go to Sokka to repair their weapon. He's been keeping up with his own since they were kids.]

So where's this eel jerky that you've been poisoning people with?

[markofthewise]

I haven't poisoned anyone! [Still, he goes to the counter where he has the stuff covered up, since he hasn't had anyone around in awhile. There's only half a dozen pieces left though. All for his sister to eat, of course.] I think you'll find them actually edible.
