Sokka the 76th - [Action/Voice]

It was an adjustment. He didn't much like that he was now single. He hated even more the circumstances that led to it. But after this long, Sokka owed it to himself to put himself back together and make some sense of his life. Or at the very least, try and be a little upright for the sake of his friends. After burying himself in work for the past few weeks, it was time for some sunshine. As sunny as it could be in January, anyway. So while he's out, he's not exactly chipper. But he's trying his best to not look as somber and cranky as he has the last few weeks.

Today, he's out with Foo Foo Cuddly Poops, the tiny Saber Toothed Moose-Lion cub he received for Christmas. The little beast is getting a bit bigger now. His little horns are protruding more and he was growing consistently. The little thing could fit on Sokka's head before, but not anymore. He was just shy of being the size of a beagle now. He'd already been bigger than Sokka remembered when he received him on Christmas. Having seen the mother, he knew Foo Foo would only get bigger. He also couldn't leave Foo Foo at home, since his teeth were coming in. Which meant he was chewing up anything he could get his paws on. Not to mention he was hardly housebroken. So this is why today, Sokka was going to the grocery to explore the diet of moose-lions so he could carry it all back in bulk. Which is why he also had an unseemly large bag. He suspected, before long, he'd have to start using a wheel barrow.

At the grocery store, the two explore a variety of foods they both like. Fruits and meat. It seems Foo Foo has a similar appetite to Sokka.

While he's off in one corner letting Foo Foo got to town on a basket of apples, he hits up the journals.

[Voice]

So. How exactly do you teach an animal not only to stop chewing on your valuables, but also to do their business outside? You know, without actually keeping them outside all the time. [A pause as he looks over at Foo Foo.] At least while they'll still fit in the house.

When Pabu when through a chewing phase, Mako and I figured out giving him something he was allowed to chew on usually was a good plan. Though I don't think they really make chew toys for Saber Toothed Moose-Lions...

At the rate he's growing, he might start using Pabu as a chew toy.

When Sora's walking through the village that day he stops as he see's Sokka and...some strange animal thing beside him.]

Sokka, right? Who's that you got there?

[As he makes a gesture towards Foo Foo.]

Have you tried taking a few treats with you when you take him for walks? Give the little guy one when he does his business outside, and find something to deter him from doing it inside that's unpleasant, but not painful. a spray bottle full of water is a classic, as is a tin can full of loose change.

Ever since the break up, Suki had been doing a good job at keeping to herself. The only time she ever felt worse was back at home, over a year ago, when she was locked away in Boiling Rock and her warriors were sent to another prison. But there she was alone. Here? She had friends and help to get through this. For some reason though, it didn't help her. The only thing on her mind was Sokka, no matter who she tried to talk to.

Staying at home was never her style. She wasn't just going to lock herself away and ignore her problems, even though she did want to avoid them for the time being. Well, avoid Sokka and avoid talking about him. And thus far she had been doing well. She even managed to smile every now and then. It was a weak smile, but it was better than nothing.

While she was out, getting some much need food for her new place with Sheena, she couldn't help but notice a familiar creature. Not that Suki actually knew Foo Foo, but she knew it was a sabertooth moose lion. She walked up to the very hungry cub, who was going to town on a basket of apples, and leaned down to greet it.

"Hey little guy. What are you doing here?"

Foo Foo looked up at Suki and affectionately licked her hand. A vast improvement over Hawky, who tended to screech around her.

Sokka wasn't far off. He had found some jerky and lunch meat and was going to experiment feeding it to his fuzzy companion. He stopped short when he saw the back of Suki. He very nearly considered backing away, but Foo Foo went running past her towards Sokka. Any chance of going unnoticed was gone.

"... hey Suki."

What do I even say now? It's not like we can just talk about the weather.

Well, as far as chewing goes, I know in my world we have sprays that don't taste good or taste too bitter to most animals. So if such a thing exists here, you could always try spraying your valuables with that.

...Though that would probably be a little silly to use on objects. They're intended for hands and such to stop pets from biting, so...

I guess I'd have to figure out what he doesn't think is tasty.

Have you tried waving your sword and threatening to eat him?

I did try that. But then I got stuck in a crater.

With animals, they have a simple hierarchy, so why not just assert dominance and order them outside?

[...Said the woman who doesn't know anything about anything about animals. Well, except roosters due to Sekai or fish due to pogo, but you don't really train either of those]

Because it's still a cub? He'll have to live outside eventually. But he's not from the North Pole, so I'm not sure how well he'd do on his own in this climate.

It would depend upon the animal, I suppose. Giving them something else to chew on is a good way.

As for house-training... [He's going to look at Saizou for a moment before continuing] Watch them for a day and when they start to look for a place to go to the bathroom, put them outside. They'll learn.

It was weird to see Sokka working himself to death for days, when he talked so often about not doing that kind of thing. Weirder still, he just didn't show up one day later.

Raven wasn't about to head off looking for him, or anything like that. It was just that much more of a surprise, running into him in the grocery store while poking around for a lunch.

He was in the middle of chewing on some jerky when she showed up. Foo Foo looked up, panted happily the way he always did when he saw her, then went back to eating apples.
