Sokka the 71st - [Action/Voice]

[Today, Sokka starts out with some simple messages for the journal.]

I know this is pretty late, but... Luceti has a way of causing delays. I got a lot of orders two months ago and they're all finally finished. If you haven't already picked them up, then... well, you should do that. I think you'll be pleased. [ooc: if you want to assume they already picked this stuff up a while ago, that's fine too!]

So, now that it's nice and warm these days, how do people feel about... fishing? I just made my own fishing rod, so I'm thinking tomorrow morning? Fishing time. On the river, maybe. Or I could bring out one of the boats and head to the lake. Some company wouldn't hurt. As long as you're not the noisy kind. I uh, actually want to catch some fish.

20th

[For today, Sokka works his regular shift at the smithy. From morning until the afternoon, he's at the smithy. There's not much to do now that he's done, so he straightens things out, hangs out on the couch with an alchemy book in his face, or if he gets bored with that... he reaches for his fishing rod under the couch and does a few practice casts. If he thinks no one will catch him doing it. Winry wouldn't approve. 8|

In the afternoon, he'll be around House 56 in the front and back yard, with a can of dirt and pushing over rocks and stones looking for worms underneath. A good fisherman needs his bait, after all! And he wants to be ready for tomorrow!]

21st

[As soon as his sparring practice is over, Sokka sets himself up on the southernmost bridge in town. Sure, it's a little gloomy today, but still time to fish. He has a chair, he has a fishing line, he has a cold box to put fish in, and he has not shortage of snacks and drinks. About ten minutes into his fishing, he gets drenched. Watch as poor Sokka has to gather up his stuff and flee back home. Later when he has an umbrella, he dejectedly heads to the smithy to put in a few hours. And then a few more hours later at the library to do alchemy research. No fishing today. :(]

22nd

[After a rainy day and rainy night, Sokka wakes up to A BIG BEAUTIFUL RAINBOW. He'll try to rush through his morning training, that way he can head to the river west of his house and ready a canoe. With a clear sky above, he's going out to the lake for fishing. There's room enough for two, for anyone eager to join. Following that, he'll be out on the southern lake fishing, cooking fish on the shore for lunch, and enjoying a good solid day off. STRESS FREE.]

I guess when you put it that way, it's... closer to okay? [Sorry, worm.]

Of course it's okay, buddy! [He sets the can down. He should probably avoid more worm searching with Aang out here.] What are you up to out here anyway?

Oh, you know me. Always trying out different places for meditating. Then I overheard you, and I've been wanting to talk to you about something anyway.

Really? What's up?

I was talking to Katara the other day about weapons and stuff. Because of bending being weaker here, and the Malnosso could be able to take it away completely. [Aang always thinks of energy-bending in association with this concept, and in this instance he also recalls that Sokka was one of the few witnesses when he used it on Ozai.] So we thought that I should try to learn how to use a kind of weapon just in case. And who better to help me decide on this than Mr. Smithy?

[Wow. The Avatar, of all people, wanting to pick up a weapon. It was surprising enough that Katara got into that habit. But when it comes down to it, he wonders just how handy Aang would be without his bending. He's wiry and elusive, but how much of that is physical skill and how much is airbending? It's hard to say. But Aang on a draft... up against a Shifter. That's not a pleasant thought.]

Uh. Sure, I can do that. Uh, I guess blades are out, right?

Of course. None of those gun things either. Thing is... I do have my glider-staff here, and I'm good at wielding it. But it's mostly made to enhance my Airbending, so I dunno if it would work well if I hit people with it. I'm supposed to sit in on one of Katara's training sessions with Nami to figure it out. I was also wondering if there were any other kinds of weapons along those lines I could check out.

[His staff isn't exactly meant for lots of heavy impacts. Not unless he wants to break it. So Sokka considers, trying to think what would work well with Sokka's own natural skills.]

Well... there's nunchaku. Or maybe tonfas. They'd be a little easier to keep around if you're already carrying your staff.

I don't know what those are, but the names do sound cool. It does help if I can still carry my staff around.

Nunchaku are like two clubs attached by a chain. Pretty handy, very cool looking, but... maybe not for you. Tonfas, though. That could work.

[Sokka finds a stick about the right shape for it so he can hold it in position.]

You hold it like this. Not only do you protect your arms, but it's a pretty versatile weapon.

[He watches curiously as Sokka explains and demonstrates and he strokes his chin in thought with one hand while leaning on his staff with the other.]

The tonfas do sound more interesting. As long as I can not hurt others if I don't have to.

[He toys with the stick a bit more, before tossing into the woods.]

Well, it'll still hurt them. But... not anymore than those boulders you and Toph throw around.

[Aang grins mischievously.]

I can live with that. Especially if they're jerks.

The guys you might need them for? Definitely jerks. The jerkiest of jerks.

[He whistles.]

Really, really big jerks. Got it.

Yeah. If you're lucky, you won't meet them. [It's been awhile since a draft, so... maybe they're over.]

I hope not either. But after everything recently, I should start preparing for anything. [He pauses and offers a meek smile.] It's kinda weird for a change, being the one who has to catch up.

Well, see? You're the new Sokka. Hi new Sokka.

Nice to meet me, Sokka. I was wondering why my instincts were so bad lately.

[Ha. Ha.]

I guess that makes me Aang. I wonder if I can find some crazy and dangerous adventure to get myself killed in. Anyone seen any dangerous and ferocious animals?

I wish.

You know, the bears in these woods will actually try to kill you. Not like Bosco. [One in particular keeps attacking him and Ed.]

Even if I bring it a bunch of really tasty fruits?

Then it will have a tasty appetizer before the main course.

That's... disappointing. They'd like me if they got to know me.
