Sokka the 71st - [Action/Voice]

[Today, Sokka starts out with some simple messages for the journal.]

I know this is pretty late, but... Luceti has a way of causing delays. I got a lot of orders two months ago and they're all finally finished. If you haven't already picked them up, then... well, you should do that. I think you'll be pleased. [ooc: if you want to assume they already picked this stuff up a while ago, that's fine too!]

So, now that it's nice and warm these days, how do people feel about... fishing? I just made my own fishing rod, so I'm thinking tomorrow morning? Fishing time. On the river, maybe. Or I could bring out one of the boats and head to the lake. Some company wouldn't hurt. As long as you're not the noisy kind. I uh, actually want to catch some fish.

20th

[For today, Sokka works his regular shift at the smithy. From morning until the afternoon, he's at the smithy. There's not much to do now that he's done, so he straightens things out, hangs out on the couch with an alchemy book in his face, or if he gets bored with that... he reaches for his fishing rod under the couch and does a few practice casts. If he thinks no one will catch him doing it. Winry wouldn't approve. 8|

In the afternoon, he'll be around House 56 in the front and back yard, with a can of dirt and pushing over rocks and stones looking for worms underneath. A good fisherman needs his bait, after all! And he wants to be ready for tomorrow!]

21st

[As soon as his sparring practice is over, Sokka sets himself up on the southernmost bridge in town. Sure, it's a little gloomy today, but still time to fish. He has a chair, he has a fishing line, he has a cold box to put fish in, and he has not shortage of snacks and drinks. About ten minutes into his fishing, he gets drenched. Watch as poor Sokka has to gather up his stuff and flee back home. Later when he has an umbrella, he dejectedly heads to the smithy to put in a few hours. And then a few more hours later at the library to do alchemy research. No fishing today. :(]

22nd

[After a rainy day and rainy night, Sokka wakes up to A BIG BEAUTIFUL RAINBOW. He'll try to rush through his morning training, that way he can head to the river west of his house and ready a canoe. With a clear sky above, he's going out to the lake for fishing. There's room enough for two, for anyone eager to join. Following that, he'll be out on the southern lake fishing, cooking fish on the shore for lunch, and enjoying a good solid day off. STRESS FREE.]

That kinda makes sense. But I could make a long list of better favors.

[... Aang, how do you figure it makes sense? Boy, you are too tolerant of other people's ways.]

So could I. But they're not interested.

Yeah, or we wouldn't even be here. Everything home... even the war... seems so simple compared to everything in this place.

Yeah... pretty much. At least, I don't think people were talking to animals, reading each other's thoughts, or turning into girls during the war.

[He grins lightly and pauses before stating skeptically.]

They turn you into girls.

... it's been known to happen to people.

[He's tempted to pry further, but he feels kind of bad needling him after the draft talk. Sokka's evasiveness is still enough for Aang to guess, and he lightly smiles before moving on.]

Yeah... now that you mention it, Winry did mention that someone she knew turned from a boy into a girl suddenly. Except that it's been permanent and not like an experiment.

Oh, Haruhi? She's uh, kind of an exception. A really weird one.

[Aang blinks after hearing her name; he didn't want to know more about Winry's love life then she told him. He probably should have expected Sokka to be aware of her when he brought it up.]

Definitely weird. It's at least a good thing none of us were brought here with any weird problems like that.

I wouldn't say that. Last time you were here, you had hair!

[Aang thinks of course of Robin.]

But that was an experiment, that doesn't count.

No no, not then. I mean, when you were here before. The second time. You had hair. For you, the Eclipse hadn't even happened yet.

Second time? But... you mean I've been here before?

Uh, yeah. Didn't Katara mention that?

[He just shakes his head.]

This is your third time here since I've been in Luceti. Technically this is your fifth time here, bu I don't remember your first two times here. But those were probably during the two times I was here and don't remember.

[Sokka receives a stare of pure confusion.]

Five? This... I can't... what? And I... had no idea you were here before. Was Katara too...?

[Some things started to click into place. He knew that his absence had played a role in any feelings Katara had for him dwindling away... but what if his constant coming and going had hurt her even more?]

Yeah, I think Katara came and went a few times too before getting stuck like me. Toph and Zuko have been here and gone a couple of times since I've been here. Even Jet has been here twice.

[Yes. Jet. Dead dead Jet. It's sad, but he doesn't swell.]

[Aang does. He had been wondering if Jet could have a new life here... now it turns out he had, and it's over.]

This is scaring me. I knew that sometimes people came back, but I thought that when we got home, we'd be safe. But... if this is true, anytime we go home we could just get pulled back here.

[That little confession snaps Sokka out of talking facts. Of course this would bother Aang. Sokka has had lots of time to work this out on his own and figure it out, but...]

Yeah. I know, it can be kind of freaky. And weird. And terrifying. But that's why it's not bad to stay here. Eventually we've gotta find a way to fix things for good. The longer we're here? The better our chances of making this our last time here.

Then I want to stay. I want a way to stay until we find a way to send everyone back for good. And if we can do that, someday... [He says "someday", knowing plain well from looking at Sokka and Katara that this is something that could take years] ...then after we've saved this world, there's nothing our home can throw at us that we can't handle.

Yeah, when you put it that way, we'll be pretty awesome when we get back home. If we go back and remember everything, anyway. [This is how Sokka remains optimistic. By thinking how cool he'd be back home by now.]

Yeah, that would be great. We'd be a lot stronger and wiser.

[He especially thinks of Zuko, how their extra time here could keep him from making mistakes back home. But then he remembers Katara, and how hurt overall everyone seems to have been hurt during their time here. The drafts that Sokka just described.]

Or just remember some things. [Like the friends they've made...]

And all the technology. I could change the world with all the stuff I've learned.

[They'd be able to outdo Republic City overnight!]

Teleporters would be really handy whenever Appa gets tired. I'd probably have to make sure the spirits are okay with all that stuff too. I'm sure they will, as long as things stay balanced.
