Sokka the 71st - [Action/Voice]

[Today, Sokka starts out with some simple messages for the journal.]

I know this is pretty late, but... Luceti has a way of causing delays. I got a lot of orders two months ago and they're all finally finished. If you haven't already picked them up, then... well, you should do that. I think you'll be pleased. [ooc: if you want to assume they already picked this stuff up a while ago, that's fine too!]

So, now that it's nice and warm these days, how do people feel about... fishing? I just made my own fishing rod, so I'm thinking tomorrow morning? Fishing time. On the river, maybe. Or I could bring out one of the boats and head to the lake. Some company wouldn't hurt. As long as you're not the noisy kind. I uh, actually want to catch some fish.

20th

[For today, Sokka works his regular shift at the smithy. From morning until the afternoon, he's at the smithy. There's not much to do now that he's done, so he straightens things out, hangs out on the couch with an alchemy book in his face, or if he gets bored with that... he reaches for his fishing rod under the couch and does a few practice casts. If he thinks no one will catch him doing it. Winry wouldn't approve. 8|

In the afternoon, he'll be around House 56 in the front and back yard, with a can of dirt and pushing over rocks and stones looking for worms underneath. A good fisherman needs his bait, after all! And he wants to be ready for tomorrow!]

21st

[As soon as his sparring practice is over, Sokka sets himself up on the southernmost bridge in town. Sure, it's a little gloomy today, but still time to fish. He has a chair, he has a fishing line, he has a cold box to put fish in, and he has not shortage of snacks and drinks. About ten minutes into his fishing, he gets drenched. Watch as poor Sokka has to gather up his stuff and flee back home. Later when he has an umbrella, he dejectedly heads to the smithy to put in a few hours. And then a few more hours later at the library to do alchemy research. No fishing today. :(]

22nd

[After a rainy day and rainy night, Sokka wakes up to A BIG BEAUTIFUL RAINBOW. He'll try to rush through his morning training, that way he can head to the river west of his house and ready a canoe. With a clear sky above, he's going out to the lake for fishing. There's room enough for two, for anyone eager to join. Following that, he'll be out on the southern lake fishing, cooking fish on the shore for lunch, and enjoying a good solid day off. STRESS FREE.]

[Aang does. He had been wondering if Jet could have a new life here... now it turns out he had, and it's over.]

This is scaring me. I knew that sometimes people came back, but I thought that when we got home, we'd be safe. But... if this is true, anytime we go home we could just get pulled back here.

[That little confession snaps Sokka out of talking facts. Of course this would bother Aang. Sokka has had lots of time to work this out on his own and figure it out, but...]

Yeah. I know, it can be kind of freaky. And weird. And terrifying. But that's why it's not bad to stay here. Eventually we've gotta find a way to fix things for good. The longer we're here? The better our chances of making this our last time here.

Then I want to stay. I want a way to stay until we find a way to send everyone back for good. And if we can do that, someday... [He says "someday", knowing plain well from looking at Sokka and Katara that this is something that could take years] ...then after we've saved this world, there's nothing our home can throw at us that we can't handle.

Yeah, when you put it that way, we'll be pretty awesome when we get back home. If we go back and remember everything, anyway. [This is how Sokka remains optimistic. By thinking how cool he'd be back home by now.]

Yeah, that would be great. We'd be a lot stronger and wiser.

[He especially thinks of Zuko, how their extra time here could keep him from making mistakes back home. But then he remembers Katara, and how hurt overall everyone seems to have been hurt during their time here. The drafts that Sokka just described.]

Or just remember some things. [Like the friends they've made...]

And all the technology. I could change the world with all the stuff I've learned.

[They'd be able to outdo Republic City overnight!]

Teleporters would be really handy whenever Appa gets tired. I'd probably have to make sure the spirits are okay with all that stuff too. I'm sure they will, as long as things stay balanced.

Yeah, I'm sure it'll be fine! Besides, we have earthbenders. They'll make finding oil a lot safer than how it's done on other worlds.

That's a good idea. We could probably think of all kinds of ways to use bending to make a lot of these new things safer and easier.

[Yup. He wants to modernize the heck out of his world. He should go memorize how to make cement. Just in case.]

Anyway, don't worry too much about the coming and going. There's no pattern to it. You'll go crazy worrying about it. And I've seen you crazy before. It's not pleasant. [Especially since it involved waking Sokka up crazy early and making him climb mountains.]

[Well his climbing skills did wind up having room for improvement!]

I wasn't that bad. Well, maybe a little. But I've been getting a lot of sleep here. And... okay, Sokka. I'll try not to think about it so much. It just makes me feel even more powerless. [And guilty for having left his friends behind several times in his past when he had been swearing this whole time he would stay as long as they did.]

[Aang, buddy. Sokka knows a thing or two about feeling powerless. And he didn't need Luceti for that.]

Everyone feels like that. And, admittedly, they're kind of right to. We are pretty much stuck in a giant fish bowl doing nothing. But if you want to be doing something, you've just got to pay attention. Know what's going on outside Luceti as much as you can. It might not feel right doing it, but maybe you should go on a mission for the Malnosso. See what it's really like out there.

[He looks on attentively and hesitates before speaking. He hates the idea of being a pawn for those guys, but this does sound like the only way to see more of this world and gain a better understanding of what is going on.]

...First, I need to try out those tonfa things.

Oh, right. Those are pretty much done. I was just trying to find some way to finish them. Like, add some kind of symbol or something. [He wasn't sure if Air Nomad symbols were appropriate.]

[Aang doesn't think so.]

I don't think they'd need any. Are they at the smithy?

Yeah. I have them set aside just for you. Are you sure I shouldn't add some arrows or something?

[He takes a moment to think; he's using the tonfas in the same capacity as he would his bending, anyway. He's still heeding his upbringing the same way, just with a different tool.]

You know what? I think I will take some arrows. Only if you can make them look really cool.

Great! So that just means I need to get some blue paint. I may need to borrow your head, so I can make sure the colors match.

[He's never tried paint mixing, but now is as good as any time to learn?]

[He laughs and taps his head.]

Sure. Just make sure you give it back when you're done.

Just hold that though while I go grab my sword.

Just try not to trip and drop it into Earth Kingdom wilderness while you're getting it.

... ouch, Aang. That just hurts. I may never see that sword again after Luceti.

Sorry, Sokka. I went too far there. I... I don't remember if you did find it.

[He was pretty sure Sokka didn't have it on him at Yu Dao, at least. Why did this feel worse than he imagined telling Zuko about his future would be?]

[Because it IS worse, Aang. This is the worst ever.]

It's... it's fine. At least I get Boomerang back, right?

C'mon, Sokka. You know that Boomerang always comes back.

[Or he just made/got a new one. But in this case, Aang's willing to let the truth slide to cheer him up.]
