Sokka the 71st - [Action/Voice]

[Today, Sokka starts out with some simple messages for the journal.]

I know this is pretty late, but... Luceti has a way of causing delays. I got a lot of orders two months ago and they're all finally finished. If you haven't already picked them up, then... well, you should do that. I think you'll be pleased. [ooc: if you want to assume they already picked this stuff up a while ago, that's fine too!]

So, now that it's nice and warm these days, how do people feel about... fishing? I just made my own fishing rod, so I'm thinking tomorrow morning? Fishing time. On the river, maybe. Or I could bring out one of the boats and head to the lake. Some company wouldn't hurt. As long as you're not the noisy kind. I uh, actually want to catch some fish.

20th

[For today, Sokka works his regular shift at the smithy. From morning until the afternoon, he's at the smithy. There's not much to do now that he's done, so he straightens things out, hangs out on the couch with an alchemy book in his face, or if he gets bored with that... he reaches for his fishing rod under the couch and does a few practice casts. If he thinks no one will catch him doing it. Winry wouldn't approve. 8|

In the afternoon, he'll be around House 56 in the front and back yard, with a can of dirt and pushing over rocks and stones looking for worms underneath. A good fisherman needs his bait, after all! And he wants to be ready for tomorrow!]

21st

[As soon as his sparring practice is over, Sokka sets himself up on the southernmost bridge in town. Sure, it's a little gloomy today, but still time to fish. He has a chair, he has a fishing line, he has a cold box to put fish in, and he has not shortage of snacks and drinks. About ten minutes into his fishing, he gets drenched. Watch as poor Sokka has to gather up his stuff and flee back home. Later when he has an umbrella, he dejectedly heads to the smithy to put in a few hours. And then a few more hours later at the library to do alchemy research. No fishing today. :(]

22nd

[After a rainy day and rainy night, Sokka wakes up to A BIG BEAUTIFUL RAINBOW. He'll try to rush through his morning training, that way he can head to the river west of his house and ready a canoe. With a clear sky above, he's going out to the lake for fishing. There's room enough for two, for anyone eager to join. Following that, he'll be out on the southern lake fishing, cooking fish on the shore for lunch, and enjoying a good solid day off. STRESS FREE.]

That wouldn't prove anything! It's not about catching a fish, but not having your worm stolen by a fish.

Well obviously if I caught a fish, then the worm didn't get stolen. If your bait gets stolen you're not going to catch any fish. You're definitely not going to catch any fish if you're pulling your bait up every five minutes to check if it's still there, so it's the only way we can really tell.

Or your line could get tugged on, you pull it in, and not only do you not get the fish but you lose the worm. And then the same possibly happens to me, I'll still have the worm. And be able to recast while you're rebaiting.

Then I'll just make you put the next worm on.

Alright, fine. I will. [Eyeroll and he goes back to staring at the water.]

[ Damn straight you will Sokka. She's actually going to be quiet and still now, staring down at the water. Wow, she can be quiet. Actually, she's pretty good at it when she wants to be. ]

[It's still pretty weird fishing with her, since he's not even sure he'd call her a friend. Actually, no, he's pretty sure he wouldn't call her friend at all. So. Hm.]

So... any progress yet on freeing us yet?

[ Yuri waits a few seconds to answer that, staring down at the water at the soft ripple where her line sits on the lake's surface. ]

More members, I've got a plan. There will be soon. It's not like I expected this to all happen quickly, even if I'd rather it did. It's a lot harder to unite people who don't have the same drives, but it's possible.

[ She actually sounds pretty serious, a change from her normal, somewhat flippant tone. ]

We'll win this. No matter how long it takes.

Wow. That almost sounded inspiring.

[And he very nearly sounds completely sincere. He doesn't hold a lot of hope for her plans, but he gives her credit for the effort. It doesn't hurt for people to keep trying.]

I'm not trying to be inspiring. I'm saying, we're going to do it even if it takes a hundred years. It's not like I can die again after all. Not really. I can't even age.

[Can't age or die, huh... Sokka decides to test that. And punches her in the shoulder. Not too hard. Just enough for her to feel it.]

[ Dullest look at that. She can handle getting a ton of cuts on the sides and all over and deal with the pain until everyone's in position, a punch in the arm... mostly she's just going to look at him like he's stupid. ]

What was that for?

[Well, she didn't flinch. But it doesn't prove anything to him.]

To see if you felt it.

Of course I felt it. It's not like I don't feel pain. I've been hit by a lot harder than you, you know. Once you take a katana to the chest or take a few bullets, a punch in the arm doesn't seem like much. Just because something heals fast doesn't mean it doesn't hurt.

[He leans back to his side, shrugging a bit.]

Well you still feel pain. I've known lots of people who died before coming here. They weren't dead here. They just kept living. And they were able to die again too. You shouldn't be too quick to assume that what works on your world will work here too.

Little cuts and stuff heal still. There are a lot of people who died before going here, but not a lot of people who spent quite some time in an afterlife that had slightly different rules. I know I can't go getting my head cut off without any issue here, that's why I've been careful. Everyone here can get hurt. There's a lot more to worry about and there's a lot more at stake. I'm not completely stupid, you know.

You say that because you haven't been drafted. Once you're out there, getting hurt is a pretty serious concern. As is dying. Injury, definitely a thing out there. As is blood. And general violence.

I've fought before. I know what it feels like and I know what to avoid. Whether it was in the same situation, I could still get taken out in a fight if the person was stronger than me. It's not like I don't know what it's like to really have someone's life at stake.

[ She looks over at him. Mildly annoyed, mildly amused at the same time. ]

Do you think I'm some kind of delusional person who thinks I'm invincible?

[He doesn't look back over, still focused on the water.]

Well I figure if you can't even get decent information on the Malnosso, you probably don't know a thing about the Third Party either. [There's a hint of a smirk there.]

Oh? Are you telling me your information on the Malnosso is sucky? Maybe I should stop hanging out with you.

Sure. I bet there's people lining up to be your information guy.

So you're my information guy then~?

I prefer to think of myself as freelance, available for anyone unable to keep track of information themselves.

Well then don't complain about my sources being good or not if you're a primary one.
