Sokka the 71st - [Action/Voice]

[Today, Sokka starts out with some simple messages for the journal.]

I know this is pretty late, but... Luceti has a way of causing delays. I got a lot of orders two months ago and they're all finally finished. If you haven't already picked them up, then... well, you should do that. I think you'll be pleased. [ooc: if you want to assume they already picked this stuff up a while ago, that's fine too!]

So, now that it's nice and warm these days, how do people feel about... fishing? I just made my own fishing rod, so I'm thinking tomorrow morning? Fishing time. On the river, maybe. Or I could bring out one of the boats and head to the lake. Some company wouldn't hurt. As long as you're not the noisy kind. I uh, actually want to catch some fish.

20th

[For today, Sokka works his regular shift at the smithy. From morning until the afternoon, he's at the smithy. There's not much to do now that he's done, so he straightens things out, hangs out on the couch with an alchemy book in his face, or if he gets bored with that... he reaches for his fishing rod under the couch and does a few practice casts. If he thinks no one will catch him doing it. Winry wouldn't approve. 8|

In the afternoon, he'll be around House 56 in the front and back yard, with a can of dirt and pushing over rocks and stones looking for worms underneath. A good fisherman needs his bait, after all! And he wants to be ready for tomorrow!]

21st

[As soon as his sparring practice is over, Sokka sets himself up on the southernmost bridge in town. Sure, it's a little gloomy today, but still time to fish. He has a chair, he has a fishing line, he has a cold box to put fish in, and he has not shortage of snacks and drinks. About ten minutes into his fishing, he gets drenched. Watch as poor Sokka has to gather up his stuff and flee back home. Later when he has an umbrella, he dejectedly heads to the smithy to put in a few hours. And then a few more hours later at the library to do alchemy research. No fishing today. :(]

22nd

[After a rainy day and rainy night, Sokka wakes up to A BIG BEAUTIFUL RAINBOW. He'll try to rush through his morning training, that way he can head to the river west of his house and ready a canoe. With a clear sky above, he's going out to the lake for fishing. There's room enough for two, for anyone eager to join. Following that, he'll be out on the southern lake fishing, cooking fish on the shore for lunch, and enjoying a good solid day off. STRESS FREE.]

As a matter of fact, fish are especially attracted to general unhappiness and squirming. It's why worms work so well.

[ Oh Sokka. Sokka. Be careful what you say. There is a smirk on her lips now and she's scooting closer. ]

So if I really wanted to catch a big fish, I could just throw you in?

[ Ah, such a sweet sing-song voice when she says that.. ]

[TOTALLY NOT FALLING FOR IT. He just gives her a look.]

They like sour personalities more. It's why I decided to let you come.

[Maybe he'll just push HER in.]

They like live bait more, don't they?

[ These two are going to end up soaked. Goes to gently pat him on the back.

And harder to try to push him off THIS IS THE SAFEST. ]

[He goes forward, but catches himself on the railing. IT IS ON.]

Maybe, but fake bait works pretty good too.

[So he does the same BACK.]

I'm pretty sure they like the stinkier stuff better!

[ TRYING TO SHOVE NOW. She puts her foot against the railing to push herself back. ]

Then you should be throwing yourself in!

[He nearly goes in this time, so he grabs HER arm to steady himself.]

I smell good, thanks!

[ TRYING TO SHAKE HIM OFF. AND THEN HER FOOT SLIPS OFF THE RAIL. ]

Whoa--! [He didn't mean for her to actually fall in, so he tries to grab her hand to keep her on the bridge, but he was already barely staying on the bridge and he slips after her.]

IDIOT!

[ Yuri let's out a yell as they both fall. BIG SPLASHING EVERYWHERE! ]

[Splish.

Sokka emerges from the river, soaked and unamused. He glares at Yuri.]

Happy now?

I don't know, is there a fish biting you?

[ Yuri's getting up too, straightening her headband. The rest of the stuff isn't as important as her hair, but in a moment, she starts trying to straighten her skirt, then pull at her shirt to try to get it straighter and how the hell is she going to get through town why is this uniform shirt white? Goddamnit. Yuri crosses her arms, pouting. It only lasts for a moment though and she starts laughing. Not maniacally or anything, just.. happily. ]

[This is why blue is great. Sokka sits on the grass next to the river, taking off his boots so he can drain the water from them. Yuri's white shirted predicament does not go unnoticed, but he doesn't stare or comment.]

No. No fish. You?

No fish! [ She stops laughing after a second, but actually doesn't sound displeased with this. Sure, falling in the water is bad. Still... it's nice to play around with someone like that. Even when she knows she shouldn't. ] I guess we lost the poles anyway... [ She gets out of the water and sits down on the grass to start taking off her socks and shoes. Her socks are probably more important to get dry than her shoes, considering how long they are. ]

[At least she's done laughing. He'd found that a little weird. But only a little, it was Yuri after all.]

Speak for yourself, I had mine firmly against the rail. [He glances up at the bridge, where his rod is still firmly positioned up there. However, those long socks ends up pretty distracting, prompting a question that has always plagued him about Japanese girls.] Why do you wear such long socks?

There are a lot of reasons for people to wear thigh-highs. The most obvious one if that in Japan, most schools require you to wear a uniform. Since it's a very strict uniform policy usually, the only thing you can do is accessorize to show your personality. Thigh high socks are one way to do that. They also help keep your legs warm since the uniform is usually still a skirt whether it's winter or summer. For some girls it's the use of zettai ryougi against guys. [ She pulls her sock up back to its normal place just so she can point at the space that's still available. ] This is zettai ryougi. Showing just that little bit of skin can be a lot sexier than showing your whole leg since it's got more mystery to it.

Personally, I just like thigh high socks.

[That is possibly the most ridiculous explanation he's heard. They have to wear skirts in the winter!? And the foreign word is lost on him, but the concept of 'less is more' kind of makes sense to him.]

Right... zettai ryougi. Well, the mystery of your legs is over now and I'm guessing right now you're not too crazy about your thigh high socks. Where I'm from, nobody would wear anything like that. [Coming from the guy who goes sleeveless anytime he can.]

Like I said, I just like the way they look. I'm not interested in romance, so there'd be no reason for me to try to seduce guys with mystery. Anyone I've tried seduce already knows it's a trap if I'm doing anything like that anyway.

[ She takes them off fully and starts ringing them out. She'll get a dry pair at home, even if it's more chilly now. ]

I'm sure where you're from you've got some kind of weird fashion going on too. Something that would make me go "what the hell are you doing, Sokka?"

[Imagining Yuri trying to seduce someone? Terrible.]

Yeah? Anything standing out?

[His fashion is basically blue. He has his wolf tail in the back, his braid on the side, his sleeveless blue tunic, a belt containing a few knives, and rather ordinary pants. Not unusual, but not very modern. As far as Sokka is concerned, he looks good in what he wears.]

[ She stares at him for a moment. ]

For one, I don't know why you've got a tail, but you kind of look like a hunter-gatherer.

Well, you're right about that. We do a lot of hunting. And gathering. Mostly the hunting. [The South Pole didn't really lend itself to being an agrarian society.]

Caveman.

Iceman, really. There's no caves where I'm from.

[He takes the insult in stride, at least. They may have come from a simple village, but he's never been ashamed of it.]

Like an eskimo?

[He'd never be familiar with that word if it wasn't for Luceti. But, two and a half years and he knows it pretty well.]

Yeah, I've heard we're pretty similar to that.
