Sokka the 67th - [Action/Voice]

[Well, apparently the experiment was over. Sokka was glad for that. He was also in his rightful body. He had to suffer a kiss from Haruhi for it, but that seemed worth it to have his body back. A small price to pay and all that. That meant that with all the madness over, he could finally get back to work. He felt rusty, but once he was back in the smithy, everything just felt right. But he also didn't have much in the way to work on, which meant he was going to have to make a courtesy call to Luceti for work.]

So... that was one of the weirder experiments. But it was pretty harmless. I'd rate it about a three on the annoyance scale. I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with all these costumes I ended up with. [Maybe he can give them to Shiki. Surely she wants loads of peasant clothes.]

Anyway, there's a weapon shop in town - the Slash and Crash. Yeah, I know, cool name. I came up with it myself. Anyway, things are slow-ish around here, so we're willing to take some requests and commissions for stuff. Or, well, I am anyway. I can't make guns or anything, but your swords and spears and stuff? We've got that. We can also do repair or maintenance work too. So... just let me know. Or come in. That works too.

[With that out of the way, Sokka starts fixing his work area, noticing now that Haruhi managed to get it a little out of order. He'll spend the rest of the day doing manly things, like staring at his reflection in the fountain and sometimes flexing just a little to remind himself he's no longer a tiny five foot tall girl. On the way home he stops to stare at the Brigade building, thinking back to being in charge there. He then decides obviously he doesn't miss that at all and goes to get some food. He might also be willing to help make dinner tonight. He's had a little practice this past month.]

Higher? Well, experiments where you get replaced by a completely different person would probably rank as seven or eight.

[It's okay, Sokka, she's pretty much next door to the smithy. She can fulfill all of your Shiki-needs there.]

Yeah...yeah, that's a good point. It's been a while since we've had one of those, but I've swapped bodies with a couple of people since being here. It never gets less annoying. Okay, you win there.

...when was the last time you swapped with somebody?

[DEER IN HEADLIGHTS MOMENT. SHE KNOWS. HOW DOES SHE KNOW?

HOW COULD SHE- wait. No. She couldn't know. No one else did. Just... wait, he's never really swapped before. Not like he did with Haruhi.]

Er, well, I don't think I've ever swapped. I uh, turned into other people before. Like my dad... and uh, Suki.

[...she's just going to give him a critical look because that expression on his face shouldn't be there. But she's just assuming it's that Sokka's a weird boy. It's okay, they can still be friends.]

Oh yeah, that's a lot more common. Still really annoying though, so I'll give you that. You're lucky. Swapping's creepy, especially when you talk to the other person in your body and you're just staring at yourself and you realize wow, you look kind of weird.

[Lying just sucks, okay. Sokka is just going to not look at Shiki. Everything around her is a little more interesting right now.]

That does seem like it would be pretty creepy... who did you swap with?

[Don't think she doesn't notice that, dude.]

I don't know if knew him, but did you ever meet Cloud? I don't remember when he left. And then the other him left, too, but I wasn't the first Cloud, I was the second Cloud.

I knew Cloud. The uh, first one, I guess. He was a jerk.

[Ah. Fond memories.]

Seriously? What was wrong with him?

He was just rude, that's all. And a lousy clown.

...when was he ever a clown?

No. No, Sokka, now you have to explain this to me. What are you talking about?

Okay, so remember last January? Not from this year, but the year before - people wanted to be different things? Cloud was a clown. He promised to be a clown for my birthday then. But after the experiment was over, he went back on his promise.

[The look on her face says she remembers that way too well.]

Rude. But really, Sokka, you couldn't just get another clown?

In the middle of another experiment? I don't think so.

...well maybe we can plan for your birthday next year then.

... well, I don't want a clown now. That was my sixteenth birthday. My next one is my eighteenth. That's kind of different. [That was Sokka the unbearded that wanted a clown. This is Sokka the man.]

Fine, fine. So what would you want for your birthday this time around?

Not spending it on a draft would be a plus. [Hello 17th birthday.] Or an experiment. [Hello 16th.] Just an absolutely ordinary birthday.

...kay let me rephrase that. What would you want that Luceti could actually provide, because I'm pretty sure they don't care about birthdays when it comes to that sort of stuff.

Well that really limits things. Unless you're just looking for birthday present ideas.

Not exactly, but, well, it's never too early for that.

Maybe something cool to wear. Water Tribe, but with a... Earth type flair to it.

...I could probably arrange that. I just won't tell you if I decide to or not. You know, for the whole element of surprise. Pretty simple though, don't you think?

Well you're free to come up with something better. [Though now that he is thinking about this.] I guess this means I should find something for you too
