Sokka the 67th - [Action/Voice]

[Well, apparently the experiment was over. Sokka was glad for that. He was also in his rightful body. He had to suffer a kiss from Haruhi for it, but that seemed worth it to have his body back. A small price to pay and all that. That meant that with all the madness over, he could finally get back to work. He felt rusty, but once he was back in the smithy, everything just felt right. But he also didn't have much in the way to work on, which meant he was going to have to make a courtesy call to Luceti for work.]

So... that was one of the weirder experiments. But it was pretty harmless. I'd rate it about a three on the annoyance scale. I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with all these costumes I ended up with. [Maybe he can give them to Shiki. Surely she wants loads of peasant clothes.]

Anyway, there's a weapon shop in town - the Slash and Crash. Yeah, I know, cool name. I came up with it myself. Anyway, things are slow-ish around here, so we're willing to take some requests and commissions for stuff. Or, well, I am anyway. I can't make guns or anything, but your swords and spears and stuff? We've got that. We can also do repair or maintenance work too. So... just let me know. Or come in. That works too.

[With that out of the way, Sokka starts fixing his work area, noticing now that Haruhi managed to get it a little out of order. He'll spend the rest of the day doing manly things, like staring at his reflection in the fountain and sometimes flexing just a little to remind himself he's no longer a tiny five foot tall girl. On the way home he stops to stare at the Brigade building, thinking back to being in charge there. He then decides obviously he doesn't miss that at all and goes to get some food. He might also be willing to help make dinner tonight. He's had a little practice this past month.]

It's weird to think we might both turn eighteen here, though.

Yeah...Neku was having a hard time trying to grasp that, too. He would have turned eighteen in December...the twenty-second. Do you think we're really aging though?

... well I don't know about you, but I know I am. [He's taller, tougher, and beardier.]

...I don't know about me either, actually. [Sure, Eri's body was growing, but was her own? Probably not.] It just starts to get weird when you meet people who are mentally older than what they appear, or younger than they appear.

[Oh yeah. Her whole... different body thing. He's not sure how to even touch on that...] You're talking about immortals and replicas, right? [And well, Haruhi counts. Kind of.]

[Probably best not to, considering. Smart move, Sokka.] Basically. I want to know if they do.

Well. I don't think immortals do. That's kind of the point. [And replicas... well, Xion looks older. But calling out specific examples is not something he intends to do. That's a private matter.]

...well. [Hold on, she's fiddling with something to set up a filter.]

I know this guy. He's supposedly immortal but I've seen him shift around to a couple of different ages. That's where it gets weird. That's all.

[This must be a big deal. Huh.]

Maybe he just has some special... age changing power?

Actually I think it has to do with when he loses control of his powers. It's not really something I can ask him about.

Right. [... awkward. Um.] Why exactly are you telling me about this? I mean, it's not that I mind. It's just. Odd.

Because I know you're not going to tell anybody else. Besides, Haruhi's heard all of my stories about twenty times over.

Oh. [... she really trusts him, then.] Um. Thanks. For uh, you know, trusting me. Since this is apparently a big thing.

It's not like you've given me reason not to trust you so far. But just in case? Let's just leave this between us.

Consider it between us. [A pause.] But since I'm so trustworthy, do you mind if I ask you something? Like... how exactly that whole thing with your other body works?

...yeah I never explained that, did I? Guess it's time to explain things...what have I told you about the Game? Anything?

[Well. He got part of it as Haruhi...]

Not... really, no.

Okay um. So first of all, I've died before. I was dead for almost a month. How do you feel about that?

... well. Surprised, definitely. [But she doesn't seem much like a zombie. So.] Does that mean that when you go home...?

I'll be alive. Totally alive. We won the Game back at home and we were all leading normal lives again before we got pulled here. But it's like...when I go home, I'll at least be out of this body and back in my own.

Remember almost a year ago, like right after we met? You saw me in a body and I lied and said I was Eri? It's...kind of the other way around. This is Eri's body. That other one's mine.

Yeah. You told me that. I didn't exactly understand it at the time, though. But why did that even happen? I mean, why aren't you in your normal body now?

Because the Malnosso are a bunch of jerks? I don't actually know why they stuck me back in Eri's body.

As for why it happened in the first place...when a person plays the Game, they have to have an entry fee. Mine...was my appearance. I used to be super-jealous of everything Eri was and everything I'm not. So it was used against me.

[Well, when it gets right down to it and comparing Shiki to her real body...

Well, he can sort of get where she would be jealous. The real Shiki wasn't unattractive, but she was sort of plain. Unexceptional.]

Why did you play this Game? What is it for? I mean... why would someone run something like that?

I played it so that I'd have a chance to come back. The Reaper's Game is basically just that; it's a second chance to get your life back.

As for why someone would run it...it's also because he's a jerk. Kind of.
