[Well, apparently the experiment was over. Sokka was glad for that. He was also in his rightful body. He had to suffer a kiss from Haruhi for it, but that seemed worth it to have his body back. A small price to pay and all that. That meant that with all the madness over, he could finally get back to work. He felt rusty, but once he was back in the smithy, everything just felt right. But he also didn't have much in the way to work on, which meant he was going to have to make a courtesy call to Luceti for work.]

So... that was one of the weirder experiments. But it was pretty harmless. I'd rate it about a three on the annoyance scale. I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with all these costumes I ended up with. [Maybe he can give them to Shiki. Surely she wants loads of peasant clothes.]

Anyway, there's a weapon shop in town - the Slash and Crash. Yeah, I know, cool name. I came up with it myself. Anyway, things are slow-ish around here, so we're willing to take some requests and commissions for stuff. Or, well, I am anyway. I can't make guns or anything, but your swords and spears and stuff? We've got that. We can also do repair or maintenance work too. So... just let me know. Or come in. That works too.

[With that out of the way, Sokka starts fixing his work area, noticing now that Haruhi managed to get it a little out of order. He'll spend the rest of the day doing manly things, like staring at his reflection in the fountain and sometimes flexing just a little to remind himself he's no longer a tiny five foot tall girl. On the way home he stops to stare at the Brigade building, thinking back to being in charge there. He then decides obviously he doesn't miss that at all and goes to get some food. He might also be willing to help make dinner tonight. He's had a little practice this past month.]

Well what I mean is... what do you do when you're uh, dead? [Because offhand it seems like you have nothing of value to lose by playing the game.]

...I guess it's like...you just move on from the world. It's hard to say since I said yes right away but from what I remember of being actually dead? I was still around. I didn't want to leave, so it's like watching from the outside in. I don't know why people wouldn't choose to play the game, maybe they really just didn't care anymore. All I know is that the Reapers came after me really shortly after I died and asked if I wanted to play. I said yes, and then I had to find a partner to make a pact with. That's where Neku comes in.

[Somehow he finds himself thinking about Mayoi. She spent ten years as a ghost, neither changing or aging. Clearly The Game didn't exist for her like it did Shiki.]

So how is the game played?

[For the most part, any of the dead people Shiki's met here haven't heard of the Game, and it surprises her.]

You form a pact with your partner, and the GM gives you missions. You have to complete the missions before the timer goes off or you're totally eliminated from the game. But you can't survive without a partner. It's kind of unheard of. You need a partner to be protected from the Noise and to use psychs.

Noise? Psychs?

Noise are the monsters in the Game. They have the power to possess people and stuff. As for the psychs, well...they're basically powers. Make sense?

It makes enough sense. Do you still have those psych powers?

Kinda. I can only use one...Neku could use a bunch of them. Mine's hit and miss sometimes.

What does your kind do, then?

Well...do you know what telekinesis is?

Sure. It's that thing where you... tell... things. With kinetic energy. [... okay so no.]

...close. It's more like moving stuff just by thinking about it.

... okay, well that's cool. So it's just... stuffbending, then. How powerful is it?

Not very. At least not here...there's a reason I'm taking up swordwielding or whatever you want to call it. I can only use Mr. Mew so much before it's not enough.

Oh you noticed that? Sometimes Mr. Mew just does his own thing. But usually he's what I fight with, yeah.

Okay, see, now you have to explain that. What is he.

...yeah. I'm not sure how. Neku thinks it's part of like, uncontrolled telekinesis or something but I've never really figured it out. [Actually Neku's right, but who knows.]

Well that doesn't sound freaky and dangerous.

Oh relax. Mr. Mew's the only thing it seems to work on. I already got that interrogation, too.
