Sokka the 57th - [Action/Voice]

[Sokka has some messages to knock out of the way. He doesn't bother with a filter for the first one, mainly because he feels like being somewhat of a jerk and making light of Haruhi's ridiculous relationship with her 'minions'. In spite of that, Sokka's tone is pretty flat. There's no excitement here and it's pretty obvious through the message something is bothering him.]

Hey Haruhi, feel free to send Naoki over. He can do his thing now. [Oh wait...] Uh, after Leon takes a look over it, I guess.

[Wonder Woman // Locked]

Uh, hey Diana. Can I ask a favor?

[This last one he almost backs out of doing. But it's been a few days now and things haven't changed. Maybe this will help.]

[Filtered from Housemates (and Haruhi as an afterthought)]

So... hypothetically speaking, how do you make up it up to someone you really care about for something that really hurt them when what you did... there was nothing you could do about it?

[With things so awkward at home with Suki, Sokka has been spending less time there. It's hard to spend time with your girlfriend when she's still upset with you, but being polite about it. So this leaves him working at the smithy for longer hours, actually doing homework at the library, and once more taking part in his neverending quest to find a hat that really says Sokka to him. Through all this, he is accompanied by a certain cheeky lemur hanging around on top of his head, shoulder, or getting into things he shouldn't.

He will, at least, drag himself home for dinner. Delicious, awkward dinner.]

All right. See you then.

[Leon spends the half hour going over some notes and packing a tome and notebook, then uses his shortcut to get over to the smithy just a little earlier than he had told Sokka. He looks around for the older teen, hoping to be done with everything before Naoki needs to lug anything anywhere.]

Just a little early. [He walks on over to where Sokka is sitting, looking curiously at Momo before averting his attention back to Sokka.] But it looks like it's been slow today.

[Despite Sokka moving on to the back and obviously being focused on the containers, Leon picks up the other topic while he follows.] You do all kinds of orders?

...Rings and lockets, or magic rings and lockets? [He sounds a little bewildered, even as he looks over to the containers Sokka built.]

[When Sokka knocks on the container, Leon's attention turns away from the conversation and back to why he's actually there.] So were you able to make them airtight? [He goes around to look for the opening.]

The hope would be that nothing's in here long enough to suffocate. [Once he locates the opening, he tugs the door experimentally before nodding in approval.] Seems good. I'll just set up the crests for a few tests.

Depends on how complex I'm making the crests. [And experience. He's been doing these crests for awhile now, so it doesn't take as long as when he first began. It's still not something he could whip out in the middle of a battle, but he'd been making progress.] I'm just setting up the most basic crests to transport a small inorganic object. It'll take a few hours at least for all the fine-tuning of human transportation.

[While he's explaining, he'll open up one of the containers to take a look inside.]

[He opens up his bag and takes out his tome, running his fingers over the inside of the door.] Any number of problems. Body temperature plummeting, oxygen intake ceasing, multiple organ failure. Take your pick.

[action]

[identity profile] book-of-chaos.livejournal.com 2011-02-06 10:10 am (UTC)(link)
Of course, that was only in the beginning. [And he's not even including some other problems he ran into while doing his tests.] There's multiple fail-safes in place now; each crest relies on the other to work, so if even one fails to activate, the entire transporter doesn't work. [He gestures to the opened door.] Like the fact that the teleporter doesn't work with the door open -- that's a fail-safe.

No way. I wouldn't want to take that kind of risk if I could help it. [He concentrates for a long moment, magically inscribing crests on the inside of the door. When the light fades, he looks over at Sokka before moving to one of the walls.] That sounds like a concept someone would have to use for a non-magical mode of teleportation, though.

I don't know what to consider the 'Shifting' that's thrown around in this world. Something that can be manipulated with or without machines, with or without people... It sounds like a natural phenomenon, but I sure wouldn't want to believe there's anything natural about what we've gone through. [He continues working on inscribing the symbols after he's done talking.]

[Leon catches sight of the wild hand gestures out of the corner of his eye, and he thinks about what Sokka has said while he works on another wall.] I guess that sounds about right. But that just makes it scary when he's rambling about 'forgetting to carry the two' or something like that...
