[Sokka has some messages to knock out of the way. He doesn't bother with a filter for the first one, mainly because he feels like being somewhat of a jerk and making light of Haruhi's ridiculous relationship with her 'minions'. In spite of that, Sokka's tone is pretty flat. There's no excitement here and it's pretty obvious through the message something is bothering him.]

Hey Haruhi, feel free to send Naoki over. He can do his thing now. [Oh wait...] Uh, after Leon takes a look over it, I guess.

[This last one he almost backs out of doing. But it's been a few days now and things haven't changed. Maybe this will help.]

So... hypothetically speaking, how do you make up it up to someone you really care about for something that really hurt them when what you did... there was nothing you could do about it?

[With things so awkward at home with Suki, Sokka has been spending less time there. It's hard to spend time with your girlfriend when she's still upset with you, but being polite about it. So this leaves him working at the smithy for longer hours, actually doing homework at the library, and once more taking part in his neverending quest to find a hat that really says Sokka to him. Through all this, he is accompanied by a certain cheeky lemur hanging around on top of his head, shoulder, or getting into things he shouldn't.

He will, at least, drag himself home for dinner. Delicious, awkward dinner.]

[Did Sokka die when he went to the draft?]

I don't know what to consider the 'Shifting' that's thrown around in this world. Something that can be manipulated with or without machines, with or without people... It sounds like a natural phenomenon, but I sure wouldn't want to believe there's anything natural about what we've gone through. [He continues working on inscribing the symbols after he's done talking.]

I always assumed it was like bending. Only instead of controlling an element, you're controlling the very fabric of existence.

[He makes some wild hand gestures like one would do if they were bending existence. But then he stops and then he thinks about he base he was stuck in. That had machinery in it for Shifting.]

Or it's just really, really advanced stuff. Isn't the blue guy always talking about mathematical formulas?

[Leon catches sight of the wild hand gestures out of the corner of his eye, and he thinks about what Sokka has said while he works on another wall.] I guess that sounds about right. But that just makes it scary when he's rambling about 'forgetting to carry the two' or something like that...

[Sokka leans up against the door frame.]

I dunno, I think he's faking it. Back in my world, we ran into this king. Completely ancient, like... over a hundred years old. Acted like a complete lunatic all the time. But he was smarter, stronger, and more clever than he acted. Kind of hiding what he was capable of behind being a crazy old man.

You think so? Just so we don't expect anything from him? [The idea annoys him.] It does seem like we just default to expecting him to be incompetent.

Makes sense to me. [Besides, this is basically Albert's conclusion and Sokka thinks he's a pretty smart guy.]

[The more he thinks about it, the more it makes sense.] And he's in charge of all these scientists and security forces, right? I don't think they'd stand for a complete idiot being in charge. [He finishes up on the third wall and heads over to inscribe the last one.]

Exactly what I was thinking. Besides, it's not like he's the son of the former president and got his position just because of who he was. [Yes, Sokka isn't a big fan of how royalty works.] He fought his way to the top. Literally, I think.

And if there's really a rogue faction out there, he's still fighting. [N-- not that he admires the old blue dude or anything. With the four walls done, he begins inscribing the circular crest on the flooring of the container.] ...I can't help but wonder how a person can pretend to be crazy for so long without becoming crazy, though.

Hey, I never said he wasn't crazy. King Bumi definitely was! He just wasn't stupid.

[Sokka leans in to watch, seeing as how he is closer to getting finished.]
