[Sokka has some messages to knock out of the way. He doesn't bother with a filter for the first one, mainly because he feels like being somewhat of a jerk and making light of Haruhi's ridiculous relationship with her 'minions'. In spite of that, Sokka's tone is pretty flat. There's no excitement here and it's pretty obvious through the message something is bothering him.]

Hey Haruhi, feel free to send Naoki over. He can do his thing now. [Oh wait...] Uh, after Leon takes a look over it, I guess.

Uh, hey Diana. Can I ask a favor?

[This last one he almost backs out of doing. But it's been a few days now and things haven't changed. Maybe this will help.]

So... hypothetically speaking, how do you make up it up to someone you really care about for something that really hurt them when what you did... there was nothing you could do about it?

[With things so awkward at home with Suki, Sokka has been spending less time there. It's hard to spend time with your girlfriend when she's still upset with you, but being polite about it. So this leaves him working at the smithy for longer hours, actually doing homework at the library, and once more taking part in his neverending quest to find a hat that really says Sokka to him. Through all this, he is accompanied by a certain cheeky lemur hanging around on top of his head, shoulder, or getting into things he shouldn't.

He will, at least, drag himself home for dinner. Delicious, awkward dinner.]

[He seems thoroughly unbothered by it, too. Naoki glances around, as though expecting to see the teleporter appear right in front of him.]

So far? Not doing much, that. Especially since the doing what she wants involves a lot of space giving.

You're probably right. [ after all, buffy kinda hates letters in the first place. ]

[Haruhi, how do you train your ~~slaves~~ brigade members so well?]

Just remember to not drop it! It's sensitive stuff, right? It's back here. [Time to weave around the shop so they can get back to the work area.] Edward and Winry are going to be happy to have these huge things out of the way now.

But uh, thanks for the advice. I'll keep the letter as a backup plan.

[Naoki is ~~absurdly~~ naturally helpful, my friend.]

Don't worry, I won't drop it. [He trots after him.] It's not the first time I've had to move something big.

She loves you, Sokka -- [ or at least buffy assumes, having heard only of their relationship from sokka himself. ] She'll come around. That's what love's about.

I could've done this a few weeks ago on my own, just so you know. I had souped up super strength. I was going around doing stuff like... lifting boulders. Logs. Other huge things. And I had it for months! Long enough to make me think it was permanent.

[Going back to regular kinda sucked. But soon they're in the work area. Two semi-identical teleporters, far larger than the one in the Rec Center. Not only are these going to be heavy, but an awkward load to carry.]

It's all in the knees.

Yeah. Know all about that.

[Sure his exile was self-imposed, but staying at the house hadn't been an option after she announced her ire to the whole village.]

[This already came up with his talk with Charlotte. Hearing that love word here, especially when it's "Suki loves you", it makes him wonder. And doubt things a little. Maybe he'd been thinking they were at a place that they weren't? After all, he spent nine months waiting for her in Luceti. She spent five minutes in the woods until he found her.]

... yeah, I guess so.

... not something I really want to talk about. [This is Suki's privacy, after all. And he doesn't want to go broadcasting that to everyone.]

You don't sound convinced.

Eh, really? [Naoki blinks at him.] From the Malnosso? I've never heard of an effect lasting that long.

[He pauses, looking between the two teleporters and nodding in absentminded acknowledgement at the words. Hm. All right, he thinks he's figured out how he's going to carry it. He moves to one, crouching before lifting it up easily.]

[Ceodore really doesn't want to know the particulars anyway.]

If she wants space, you've got to let her have it. Once you hurt someone, even if it's not your fault, you lose the privilege to choose the method of making it up.

If she just wants space, that's not too bad. At least she's not yelling at you.

Maybe I don't see things the same way she does.

[Sokka just shakes his head at the display. Because deep in his scientific mind, he knows that there's no rationale for why this should work. Naoki should buckle over and snap in two. And yet he was able to do the same thing at one point. Meh.]

I have. It just doesn't happen often.

Yeah... that helps. [He recalls Selphie's post all too well.]

Things worked out for you, right?

[ buffy wants to tell him that...people certainly can see things the same way. that just last week, she and spike had come to a very mutual (and loving in its own way) conclusion. but even she can tell that describing her same-minded break up will not be helpful. ]

You...Sokka, are you sure about that? Or is this butterflies-in-the-stomach kinda stuff?

Really? This is my first time hearing of it...I think. I wonder why it is.

[Naoki murmurs it thoughtfully as he shifts his hold on the teleporter, assuring he's not going to drop it. Demon strength does wonders--even if you wouldn't guess it given he doesn't even appear that muscular.] ...all right, think I got it.

I spent nine months waiting to see her here or back home. But all of that happened in the blink of an eye for her.

My sister showed up, recently. She'd just seen me the day before. I hadn't seen her for nearly two years. [ buffy tries not to count or talk about the week and a half that dawn had been in luceti. ] It didn't change what we are or what we mean to each other.

[ gently, carefully: ] Maybe you shouldn't hold the time difference over her head, Sokka.

Uh, just haven't met the right people? [The only ones he knows of are Shiki and Buffy. It's not exactly a large group.] Besides, I think it was because I was rescued while they were in the middle of doing their tests on me. I lost it when they kidnapped me again.

[Now that Naoki seems steady, Sokka goes to slide open the large doors in the back area. He'll probably have to walk Naoki the whole way there. Super strength is no match for the odd pot hole or slippery ice on the way, especially when you can't really see where you're going.]

Yeah. It did. She tried to apologize. [And he wouldn't let her.] It's best to be completely honest and let her decide what she wants to do.

Is she worth waiting for?

I'm not! [Well, not intentionally.]

But maybe it just means more to me because I waited for it longer.

Duh, of course she is.

[He wouldn't have asked if this was some fling.]
