To everyone who was asking yesterday, Katara is just fine now. So... yeah, thanks Ginko. We owe you one.

Master Souji, sorry I missed our lesson yesterday. [The previous message should explain why he missed it.]

[And then because Sokka is feeling a lot better in spite of a crappy day yesterday (because he bounces back so fast), he decides to start preparing for the future. Which means he needs a filter.]

So hey, I kind of have a date I need to prepare for. Anyone got any good ideas about what exactly I should do? I know there's typical stuff like a dinner or flowers and stuff like that. But that's kind of amateur stuff, isn't it? I want to go all out! Sure, Luceti is kind of a boring place at times, but I want to really nail this one good. [Of course Sokka means the actual date (which is merely a practice one), not the person he's dating. Feel free to get that wrong, though.]

Well, you can't go wrong doing something that she likes to do. ...Unless it's a he, though it's probably the same there. But if you really want to make the date special, you should set it someplace that's special for the two of you.

[Oh wait. This is Shirley's friend. THIS IS PERFECT.] Well, let's say it was you. It's not, obviously, but if it was... where would you like to be on a date?

You mean, what would be my ideal date here? ...Well, for one thing, it wouldn't be with you. [It should be fairly obvious she's teasing from her tone and the way she sticks out her tongue briefly through her grin. Basically, she's stalling for a little bit of time to think, as she hasn't really thought about dating in Luceti ~~except during Dragobete~~ and thus she doesn't have an answer immediately.]

Obviously. [He isn't attracted to bitchy.] But hey, you're a girl. You're pretty and talkative, so I'm sure you've been out on a few dates before, right? So you'd have to know!

[It's a good thing he's smart enough not to voice that part, as she is a little flattered by his words rather than very insulted.] Of course I know. You've come to the right person for that kind of advice. [Not really.] The first thing you have to think of is timing! Timing is very important. You don't want to overstay your welcome! It's not a problem if the two of you get along really well, but you don't want to push it. If things get slow by the end of the date, it ruins any good mood that you might have built up before. But even if you decide to go the full day, you can't go too early! Girls need a lot of time to get ready for this kind of thing--if you catch her before she feels she's ready, she's going to be in a bad mood all day. [This may be more to do with the fact that Fenimore herself isn't much of a morning person, though.]

[Sokka is a smooth talker like that. Oh yes. Until he sticks his foot in his mouth.]

Plenty of time to prepare, huh? I figured it was more of an evening thing anyway. That way things don't get too boring. And then once things are done, call it an early night. [Sokka IS a morning person, after all. Early morning training tends to make you one.]

Evenings are the traditional time. That mostly restricts it to quieter activities. A walk by the water can work sometimes, but it's a bit...lackluster. Especially since it sounds like you two haven't gone out before. If you can find a way to end it by the water, though, sitting by the water under the stars is a definitely good way to continue a good mood.

...If the sky goes back to normal, at least.

I hope so. I'd hate for it to be permenant.

But as for your question.... I guess it's not a good idea to be planning on kissing on the first date. But if the mood's right, it'd be worse to not kiss. You have to base your decision on whether or not she wants to.

So it doesn't hurt to be prepared then. Got it. [So he needs to write a note for Shirley that he can pass to her, indicating that this would be the moment they kissed on a real date.] Might take a few tries to get it right... [Maybe he should get some extra pens.]

...If you ruin the first try and don't think you can make it on the second, you really should just give up at that point. It's really not that hard.

Flowers are pretty. Fire lilies are very popular. Snowdrop flowers make the other person kiss you.

[Snowdrop flowers make the other person kiss you? What an odd superstition. But it certainly wasn't the oddest she knew. ...Had she seen snowdrop flowers recently? Well, she can't really remember] ...So, not much--not that I really expected otherwise from someone like you.

If you want to start off on a good note, though, you're going to have to get a bouquet of some kind to give her when you go to pick her up. A hand-selected one might be nice, but you might be better off getting some help on that from the flower shop, or asking someone to go with you to give advice.

...But if she knows about that last part, you might want to steer clear of snowdrop flowers. It might give the wrong impression.

Oh, don't worry. The snowdrop flowers went away with Dragobete. [Good grief. If he gave her a bouquet of those, he might be suffocated from the kissing. Eesh.]

So what's your favorite kind of flower?

Drag--? [It takes her a moment, but already trying to remember when she last saw snowdrop flowers prompts her memory of that statue.] Oh, right.

...My favourite flower? [She has one, but it's embarrassing to admit, so:] Er. Water lilies.

Water lilies! [That's PERFECT! Shirley would love that. A whole bunch of water lilies. Yeah. A perfect plan. Yeeeeah.] Yeah, I could get some of those.

...Well, you could, sure. But I don't know whether the flower shop would have them.

Maybe I could find them on the lake or something.

That might work. I guess you could get points for effort, at least.
