Boomerang
Background: Gifted to him by his father over seven years ago, Sokka has become an expert in using the weapon. He keeps the boomerang regularly sharpened to a knife's edge, making it an extremely effective projectile weapon. His aim with is impeccable, proving himself capable of throwing it in an arc to hit multiple targets at once (such as cutting down several Fire Nation traps being held by rope in the trees high above them). He's even able to target enemies simply by mentally calculating their trajectory, as shown by him being able to hit Combustion Man square in the forehead by merely seeing the target of his attack and working out its source. It was in this way he was able to defeat and kill Combustion Man using nothing but his boomerang. As always, his boomerang always manages to come back to him no matter where it's thrown or where it hits.
Sokka has a special sentimental attachment to the weapon and always calls it "Boomerang" rather that simply a boomerang. It's one of his prized possessions and both times he's nearly lost it had been a crushing blow to him. He was naturally overjoyed the find it had been returned to him in Luceti and he has continued to make good use of it, even sometimes in hunting, showing himself to be able to easily bring down fleeing waterfowl with his weapon. Thanks to his training with wind magic and Kipinn, Sokka has found ways of incorporating the magic with his boomerang. Primarily he's able to use it to give the weapon an extra push, making his throws stronger and faster. He's been working on a new technique to use the weapon's own spin to create a mini-cyclone inside of it with the practical effect of being able to drag small objects back to him with the boomerang.
For Sokka's entire life, there has been one thing that Sokka could always count on. That Boomerang would be there for him. A gift from his father years before he left for the war, Boomerang is a constant reminder to Sokka of his duties as a Warrior of the Water Tribe, which not only include becoming stronger, but also protecting his family and friends. Because of that, Boomerang has been a key part of Sokka's life and a very significant part of his own identity. Out loud he might profess to be the "Meat and Sarcasm Guy", but in reality, he always saw himself as the "Boomerang Guy". Even when Karma threatened to end him in a small crack in the earth, Sokka wouldn't give up Boomerang.
After all. Boomerang always comes back. That's more than he can say for most people in his life, after all. It is that simple truth that makes it more than just a weapon, but like an extension of Sokka himself. If Boomerang can come back, then so can Sokka. For that reason, even as he's found other weapons, he keeps this particular one close by. And for good reason, his skill with it is without equal. He never misses his target with Boomerang. They're a team that can't be broken apart, even if his friends might not even understand. It's more than just a weapon to him. It's a part of himself.
Note: Sokka always keeps his boomerang on him, even more so than he does his sword. He keeps it in a special holster along his back, usually underneath his sword's sheath. However, if he's wearing his armor, he keeps it holstered on his belt at his side.
Space Sword
Background: Forged from a meteorite by Sokka, with the help of Master Piandao, Sokka's 'Space Sword' ranks second in Sokka's most important personal belongings. The jian itself is unique because it's not something Sokka would be able to reproduce (due to lack of meteorite rock) and although he doesn't mind showing it off, he doesn't like to risk losing it again. Although Sokka was already a fairly skilled fighter to begin with, his short lessons with Piandao set Sokka up to begin dramatically increasing his combat effectiveness. He continued training himself afterward and proved to be an extremely effective swordsman in the Fire Nation Invasion. This was particularly shown when, while jumping on the head of a Komodo Rhino and proceeding to cut a soldier's spear down the middle with his blade. He has also used the weapon to great effect in its impressive durability and sharpness, having demonstrated the ability to cut through even metal with the sword.
Because it was made by a member of the Order of the White Lotus, the sword's sheath has marking similar to those of a White Lotus tile. He has continued to practice with his blade ever since arriving in Luceti and has become increasingly more skilled in its usage. Although he doesn't quite consider himself a swordmaster just yet, he's becoming increasingly more confident with his own abilities. Lately he's been working on a way to combine filial magic with his sword fighting. One technique he's mastered is using Eferin to light it on fire, increasing its effectiveness as the heated blade cuts even cleaner and faster than ever.
Note: Sokka can almost always be found with his sword strapped to his back. He's also known to use it in unorthodox ways, such as cutting mundane objects with it if he doesn't have his machete on hand.
Chainmail
Background: A special set of chainmail created meticulously by Edward's expert hands. Originally Sokka ordered it merely for training purposes due to Okita Souji's harsh training sessions, but after seeing the finished product, complete with the Water Tribe symbol on the design itself, Sokka has put it to use, wearing it underneath his leather Tribal armor as a second layer of defense. As a matter of fact, he put it to good use during the draft and there was a few times where its added presence kept him from injury.
When not in use, Sokka keeps it on a special display in his room. The added weight typically slows him down, so he only ever uses it for occasional training or serious combat.
Messenger Bag
Background: A simple bag purchased in the Earth Kingdom. They were low on money, but Sokka felt he deserved something nice, especially after the events of Avatar Day. And yet after buying it, he felt instant buyer's remorse as he saw no use for it, even if Momo felt it was quite nice. It was only after Aang won the Earthbending Championship Belt, which Sokka took to wearing, that he realized it really worked for him. Sadly he gave up the belt to Toph later.
He kept the bag for the rest of season 2, where it came in handy for carrying a multitude of things, not the least which being scrolls and maps stolen from the Spirit Library. He lost track of it after Ba Sing Se, perhaps putting it away because of the obvious Earth Kingdom look to it while hiding out in the Fire Nation. He ended up finding it again Luceti and uses it all the time now. He ended up sewing in compartments on the inside and uses it to carry anything from his journal, smoke bombs and explosives, extra knives, sharpening tools, basic first aid items, and the occasional lemur.
Note: IT'S NOT A PURSE.

Water Tribe Armor
Background: The traditional armor of the Southern Water Tribe. From the neck to the feet, the armor is composed of leather, dyed blue. It is strong and durable enough to provide some protection against blunt force and slow down bladed weapons. Primarily it protects from the flames of firebenders. On the top of the leather armor is a more ornamental layer that sits on the shoulders and chest, displaying the Water Tribe symbol. This layer is more rigid and reinforced, to protect the vital regions. The wolf helmet serves a similar purpose, while also giving the warriors a fierce, frightening appearance to intimidate enemies with its ferocity.
Sokka first received this armor from his father before the eclipse took place. Though it was offscreen, this was a very big deal to Sokka. It was a sign of him truly being counted as a Water Tribe Warrior. It's among his most valuable possessions and he takes great pride and care in maintaining it. Because he's grown in Luceti, he's been forced to modify it in order to continue wearing it. Because the opportunity for battle rarely presents itself, Sokka will sometimes wear it while hunting.
Note: Thanks to Molly Hayes, he has a replica of his helmet, which she made before his real one finally showed up. Although he doesn't use it for real combat, the replica does get used as 'attractive headgear', as it is much softer and lightweight than the real thing.
