Sokka the 12th - [Written/Action]

[Filtered to his friends at 80%. You know who you are, people.]

Since my sister arrived, me, Toph, and Zuko have moved to House 56. Right next to Building 5, hard to miss. Just thought I'd filter this though, what with evil demons going around destroying houses and stuff. So feel free to update your address book!

[And that's all Sokka is writing for now. Right now he's working on getting his room set up if his housemates want to bother him. Just about everything is moved over now, not that there was a whole lot to take. Sokka will miss those purple walls back home, though. He's a little bummed out since he recently discovered that his old 'boss' Elisa stopped showing up to give him sandwiches at the smithy and seems to be gone altogether. Sure, he's his own boss now, but he was getting rather fond of jalapenos...]

And we just believed him and let him stay? [And now Katara is miffed at her future self for allowing such a thing. Not to mention everyone else.]

I didn't believe him either, but Aang trusted him and Toph thought he was okay. I figured that was enough, even though I still kept an eye on him. More importantly, with Sozin's Comet still coming, someone had to teach Aang to firebend.

[Very grudgingly, Katara will admit that this is practical. But that doesn't mean she has to like it.] ...well all right, fine. Did he actually come through? [Why no, she's not looking for an excuse to hunt him down here and now.]

As a matter of fact he did. A few days later, I asked him where dad would be. So that night, I went to take Appa to the Boiling Rock prison. [He continues on to tell her about how Zuko went with him, their time in the prison, finding Suki, and eventually all of them escaping.] ... if Zuko had been planning to betray us, he could have turned me in at the prison.

I can't believe you just went off with him like that! By yourself! What if he had!?

[Yeah, she got the part that Zuko helped him rescue their dad and Suki and maybe a tiiiiny bit of 'he's OK' was planted before being overwhelmed with fury that he'd risk himself like that, trusting only Zuko.]

I had to go there, with or without Zuko. It was my invasion, my plan, and I was the one who failed. [Now it's Sokka's turn to be upset. Even though the Fire Lord was defeated, he still feels responsible for everything that went wrong on the invasion.] If Zuko hadn't went with me, I would've never got out of there by myself.

[Her response is immediate, brain to mouth filter - gone] Don't be so selfish! It was your plan but we all agreed with it because it was a good one, the best we had! If the plan failed we all failed. We were beaten, but there's no shame in that. As long as we got back up. [...and she softens, grows a little uncertain] And we did, right? We won in the end.

I know I wasn't there, but even if I was I'm sure I'd say the same thing. I'm just glad you're OK.

[Actually it was the Earth King that failed, that doofus. But that does cheer him up, even if he was being accused of selfishness there.]

It was something along those lines, I think. But you're right. In the end, Aang stopped Ozai before he could decimate the Fire Nation. [Conveniently leaving out the events with their mother's murderer.]

[Softly] I knew he would. I knew it.

[Smile] That's a good story, Sokka. They're going to be telling it around their campfires for years! [Just a smidge of sadness that she only gets to hear about it. It's more important that it happened.]

I'd like to think I did a better job telling it than a certain troupe of actors did.

A certain troupe of actors?

On Ember Island. They played out our entire quest from meeting the Avatar up until the uh, end. The actors were terrible and it had a pretty slanted view favoring the bad guys. Let me put it into perspective. Aang was a girl, I was an idiot who only talked about meat, Zuko constantly yelled about his honor, and Toph was a big muscly guy who used sonic waves to see people.

[Failed attempt to not giggle] That's... kind of hilarious.

[That's only because you didn't get to see yourself in it. :|]

Well, at least the Sokka actor got better after I provided him with some good material to improve his comedy.

[That. Is so true.]

I'm sure he did. [She smiles and shakes her head. Katara feels much better now, even though she won't rest easy until she confronts Zuko.] So what about here? You're not hunting the talking animals, so what have you been up to?

[Hopefully that works out well. Plan B for getting Katara to like Zuko requires some creative Earthbending.]

Actually I took over the smithy. I've been learning a lot since I started there. It's not as easy as Piandao made it out to be, but I'm pretty good at it.

That's great, Sokka. Really! And something that you'll be able to use when we get home.

Yeah. Only if I remember it, anyways. Not exactly like I remember anything from the last time I was here.

You were here before too? I met someone over the journal-things who said she knew me... Rydia I think her name was.

According to some guy named Vyse. I've talked to Rydia too about when you were here. It's pretty creepy having people act like your friends when you've never met them before.

Yeah... and it's got to be weird for them too, if they did know us before. To have all those memories that we don't have... ['cause that's not parallel to her situation at all. Suddenly, she feels more kindly disposed towards Rydia.]

I try not to let it get to me too much. Vyse is a pretty good guy, so having an automatic new friend isn't too bad.

I can't wait to meet him, then! It seems like this place is full of a lot of interesting people.

...[sly voice] I already met one of your friends.

Well uh, Vyse is a pirate. Just don't steal anything from him. [This face.]
