[You might notice something unusual today. The smithy now has smoke rising from it once again. If you go inside, you'll find Sokka inside, working on various items with one hand while holding a yellow book entitled "Smithing For Dummies" in the other. A few other books about smithing and metallurgy in general are scattered about as well.

If you caught Sokka earlier in the day, you would've seen him dragging a large amount of weapons back to the smithy, all of which he had previously purloined at the weapon shop when he arrived. He'll also be attempting to drag a few couches from the furniture shop towards the smithy too, so feel free to help him out.]

I'm gonna go with the latter. Unless you try to kill your enemies with cunning arguments.

I used to be a mercenary. It might be where my sense of humor comes from.

It was a long time ago. Or maybe I'm just lying.

[Sokka just shrugs.] Maybe. I probably should be surprised by that.

I don't actually like to lie too often. The truth is easy to remember, but lies are easy to forget. I can't force anyone to trust me, though. You never can, can you?

No, I don't think so. Sometimes I trust you. Mostly when you're talking about anything but yourself.

Is this because I complain about being old all the time?

Well you're not actually that old. Do you know all the old people here yet?

I know my wife. She's older than me! Much much much much older. There aren't very many old people here, to tell you the truth.

How can you be sure? Do you know all of them?

No, but it doesn't take a genius to look at the journals and see that this place trends younger than the outside world must. How many people here do you think are fathers or mothers, let alone grandparents? I'm pretty sure 37 puts me above the average.

Well, yes, I've noticed that too. It's actually kind of odd, really. But my main point I was going to make is that all old people know eachother. An old person told me that.

How do you know he wasn't lying? Old people tend to do that.

Because he's insane. [That makes perfect sense.]

Well, you can either trust the mad absolutely or not at all, so I'll defer to your judgment.

Probably a good call. [Sokka glances around a bit.] ... so I should probably get started, huh?

Unless you have anymore couches to move. If you see my missus, don't tell her I did that for you, because she really likes to make me carry things around and I don't like to do it.

I'll have to remember that as leverage.

You know, if I ever meet her, that is.

Maybe I told you in a gesture of good faith.

I though you never wanted to meet her, anyway.
