Sokka the 70th - [Action/Voice]

Okay, I just need everyone's attention for a minute. At least, those of you who, you know, like weapons.

I'm Sokka and I guess you could say I'm in charge of the weapon shop and smithy. I've been working with Leon Geeste, who is a kind of master alchemist guy, to make even better weapons. With his crests and my weapons, we can add a kind of magical element to them now. For instance, a sword can be given a fire element and that will make the blade burn and make it deadlier. Or a spear could be given an ice element that will freeze around the target a little. And, you know, other stuff. There's earth, air, and lightning elements too.

Anyway, these aren't always the easiest things to make, but... if it's a thing you want, we can do it. We've got stuff already made, but we can do something custom too. But just be practical, right? Sure, we might be able to figure out how to put crests into a hundred arrows. But we might also decide to, you know, have social lives too. These crests work best with a single weapon that you'll keep reusing. I can uh, explain it better, if you need me to.

[With that announcement out of the way, Sokka will hang out at the smithy until dinner time. He wants to be there and ready in case anyone wants these cool new unique weapons. Unless, of course, no one shows up. In which case he'll be at his work desk converting his alchemy notes into code, which is proving to be his least favorite thing to do ever. He kind of hates Ed now for telling him he had to do this. But it's what he has to do if he wants to prevent the secrets of meat alchemy from falling into the wrong hands. Who knows what people could do with that kind of power!

After closing up shop and doing his usual dinner at home, Sokka will be unusually taking a walk around the village in the evening. He's actually got a lot on his mind and without smithing or alchemy to occupy his thoughts, he's stuck on the Masaomi problem. He's half hoping that he'll run into the guy on the streets, but he's still not entirely sure how to approach the problem. Before the evening's over, he'll end up at Good Spirits, concerned and drowning his thoughts into a nice tall glass of... hot chocolate. Because that's what men do. Drink tall cups of hot chocolate with tiny marshmallows and whipped cream.]

"I've never even scored that badly on a pop quiz. So harsh, Sokka. So. Harsh."

"Well, I happen to think honesty is key in a friendship. Even when it hurts."

"Does that mean I should tell you how I really feel about your hats?"

"... sometimes friendship isn't always a strictly two way street."

"And sometimes it's a vehicular nightmare of circuity and what-goes-around-comes-around. A friendship roundabout."

"Sounds complicated. Maybe we should become pen pals instead.]

[herotypical]

"Nah. Me? I don't like writing."

"Well that would give me less to read, so it all works out."

[herotypical]

"We could just skip the pen-pal part altogether and pretend like we did."

[markofthewise]

If that's what you want. I'll just have to start visiting the bar when Zack is working. Or that other, scowly looking guy.

"Shizuo. He's...you know, I haven't been able to get a read on him."

[markofthewise]

"I... haven't talked to him." So no read here. None at all.

[herotypical]

"You're not missing out on much. Though he is a dear when he takes my late shifts so I can go patrol. Perhaps he's the strongly silent but yet charitable type?"

[markofthewise]

"Well that works out for you. But I wake up around when you're finishing patrolling."

[herotypical]

"Right. The man with his week scheduled down to the hour. I remember. Don't you ever just want to...sleep in? Say -- screw the schedule, and get your inner rebel on?"

[markofthewise]

"That's what strategic napping is for. I sleep during the day. It's a lot more relaxing, really."

[herotypical]

Buffy knocked her knuckles against the bartop once.

"Oh, I used to be a champion napper. But then I dropped outta college and...well -- where does one nap without an intro to philosophy class, huh?"

"... well, philosophy does sound pretty boring." It was a subject for which Sokka had absolutely no use.

"...Try mega-boring. If I wanted to learn how a bunch of dead guys liked to argue, I'd go hang in the local vamp bar until a brawl broke out."

"Vampires hang out in bars? Do they serve blood in your world too?"

[herotypical]

"Some. And not the piggy kind. They stock-up at blood drives. Y'know...or maybe you don't. Donating blood?"

[markofthewise]

"Why, exactly, would you donate blood?"

[herotypical]

Oh! A good thing about her world. This was...rare. And lovely.

And she's almost exited to talk about it. "Say someone's...lost a lot of it. Needs a transfusion or has been in an accident...well -- people voluntarily donate blood to hospitals. To help people. The unfortunate side effect of all this helping is that donation deliveries are sometimes a prime target for vamps looking to not leave a body trail. Part of my duties back home involved staking out blood deliveries. Making sure the stuff got to where it needed to go."
