{So Sokka is in a dilemma. Here he is, his usual lunch spot sitting on the stony edge of the fountain, eating his sandwich, when it occurs to him that he's had a ham-and-turkey--and-roast-beef-with-cheese-and-jalapeno sandwich for three week consecutively. And that's only because three weeks ago Hawky flew away with his sandwich before he could eat it. As he realizes he has little to no desire to finish this half eaten sandwich, he realizes his life needs a CHANGE. Something different. Exciting. A way to make his mundane existence in Luceti worthwhile again. Naturally he turns to the journals.]

Okay, so, I'm sick of eating the same old stuff for lunch. Sandwiches are great, really, but I've been eating them for a year now. I think I need more variety in my lunches. Any ideas? It can't be... complicated or anything. Believe it or not, cooking is not exactly my thing. So, anyone got any ideas that don't include visiting Seventh Heaven every day? Or the other restaurants, either. No offense to them, but... I dunno. No offense, either way.

{Unless it's for something special, Sokka just doesn't buy into making people work for him without recompensation.

He chews on his sandwich a bit more, then decides to add:]

Anybody like fishing? I mean... maybe not so much the net fishing. Just line fishing. Or spear fishing, I'm good with that too. It's actually been awhile since I caught my own dinner, now that I think about it.

[For you action folks, catch Sokka at his usual haunts. The smithy, around House 56, around the plaza, or beside the barracks, working on the lumber Moro provided into usable material for his boat. LOUD POWER TOOL SOUNDS, RAR HAR HAR.]

Of course~! But merfolk also have a pretty limited diet. I don't really know what else tastes good.

Well, generally speaking, anything with meat tends to be pretty tasty. And you live in the ocean, so there's no shortage of that.

I don't eat fish, though. But shellfish is okay~.

What's wrong with fish?

Sokka-chin, I'm a fish! Do you eat other humans?

No. But fish isn't a specific species, it's a class of animals. It would be like saying I'm a cannibal for eating rabbits. [YEAH HE'S GETTING SCIENTIFIC ON YOU.] Besides, aren't you only half fish?

It's totally different! Bunnies are little and fluffy. You're not.

[Countering science with derp.]

Fish aren't fluffy at all. No fur. Besides, fish eat fish. The bigger fish eat the not-so-bigger fish. It's nature. That's how it works. You not eating fish won't stop them from eating each other.

[Pout.]

Mermaids don't eat fish, okay?

[She wishes she her friends from Fishman Island were here. They'd back her up.]

Fine, fine. [She could've just said that to begin with, instead of rationalizing it!]

What about rabbits? Or beef?

Never had them. Merfolk are pretty much vegetarians. I've never even seen a beef before. Are they cute like bunnies?

No. They come from cows. Big, slow, and stinky. But fair enough. All Air Nomads are vegetarians too.

Air Nomads...? [They're vegetarians. Maybe they're like merfolk. Flying merfolk, yeah!]

Yeah. Airbenders. Bald people who ride around on the wind. [Or used to, anyway.] They were very spiritual and stuff. Didn't eat meat at all. Trust me, I tried.

That would be so cool! I'd love to be able to ride around on the wind~.

Yeah, it's pretty awesome. I mean, sure, I just rode a giant air bison... and plenty of airships, but it's close enough.

An airship!? Like... a flying ship? That's so amazing~!

Yeah, flying ship. And... bison. Big hairy creatures? They umm... well, don't live in the water. [So that's not much help.] But uh... pretty big. About eight of us could fit on his back at any time, with some room leftover besides.
