{So Sokka is in a dilemma. Here he is, his usual lunch spot sitting on the stony edge of the fountain, eating his sandwich, when it occurs to him that he's had a ham-and-turkey--and-roast-beef-with-cheese-and-jalapeno sandwich for three week consecutively. And that's only because three weeks ago Hawky flew away with his sandwich before he could eat it. As he realizes he has little to no desire to finish this half eaten sandwich, he realizes his life needs a CHANGE. Something different. Exciting. A way to make his mundane existence in Luceti worthwhile again. Naturally he turns to the journals.]

Okay, so, I'm sick of eating the same old stuff for lunch. Sandwiches are great, really, but I've been eating them for a year now. I think I need more variety in my lunches. Any ideas? It can't be... complicated or anything. Believe it or not, cooking is not exactly my thing. So, anyone got any ideas that don't include visiting Seventh Heaven every day? Or the other restaurants, either. No offense to them, but... I dunno. No offense, either way.

{Unless it's for something special, Sokka just doesn't buy into making people work for him without recompensation.

He chews on his sandwich a bit more, then decides to add:]

Anybody like fishing? I mean... maybe not so much the net fishing. Just line fishing. Or spear fishing, I'm good with that too. It's actually been awhile since I caught my own dinner, now that I think about it.

[For you action folks, catch Sokka at his usual haunts. The smithy, around House 56, around the plaza, or beside the barracks, working on the lumber Moro provided into usable material for his boat. LOUD POWER TOOL SOUNDS, RAR HAR HAR.]

That's so cool! You have such amazing animals in your world!

Well, they seem pretty normal to me, you know. It's the animals here that are weird. Before this place, I'd only ever seen one bear and it was so rare, it belonged to the Earth King.

I remember seeing some bears when I was a human. They don't seem so bad. Kinda cuddly, actually.

[All big and warm and fuzzy and covered in fangs and claws.]

Bears are not cuddly. They only appear to be. But underneath, they are cruel and vicious killers.

[Unless that bear is Bosco. Then he just fails.]

Have you ever tried to talk to the bear and see why they're like that? Maybe they're mad at you.

As a matter of fact, no. The last bear I met was trying to eat somebody. And I had to fight him off and carry the guy to safety. I've never done anything to bears before.

Maybe it was mad at him then.

... couldn't it just be the bear's fault? Why are you taking its side anyway?

Because humans usually do something to nature that makes it respond.

Yeah, sometimes. But you know, sometimes nature can be just as nasty. Or even worse.

[Sokka is too practical to subscribe to Humans Are Bastards. More like Everyone Is Bastards, Including Bears.]

[You'll have to forgive Keimi. Merfolk as a whole are a little... against humans.]

Sometimes. Animals get hungry, too.

[Sokka has a lot of friends like that...

[Giggle.] There's lots of seaweed~.

Tell that to the bears.

[Hmph.] I bet I could totally make some seaweed that the bears would love.

As much as I'd like to see that, I'm worried that a bear might mistake you for being overfriendly salmon.

[She's not sure if she should be insulted or amused. So she'll giggle at that.]

I am not a salmon!

Hopefully the bears will believe you. I've heard they're not prone to believing their meals about important distinctions like that.
