Sokka the 61st - [Action/Voice]

[When Sokka opens the journal, he does it with a very specific purpose and yeah, maybe it's New Feather season and the aftermath of some dumb experiment, but he has some news that he's been sitting on for awhile. News that only two or three people outside of the Avatar house are even aware of. So today, around lunch period at school, Sokka heads around the building, facing the playground, to make an announcement he'd been putting off for a bit. Not because he didn't want to make it, but it was hard to do it with people being all ragey with the Malnosso. Maybe a few days of New Feathers will have cooled them off?]

Hey everyone. So... this is actually a few weeks late, but uh, that experiment kind of got in the way and New Feathers showing up and... anyway. Forget all that.

If you guys happen to see Suki around town, say hi to her for me. After all, she's the future Missus Thunderaxe. [He allows that to sink in a bit.] Because, you know, we're engaged now. Just saying. Nice pretty necklace and everything. One of my best works, if I do say so myself.

[Yeah, yeah. He's feeling good about that, okay. Like, solid. Whatever that means. Anyway, he decided that tonight he is making dinner. That means he's going to the grocery and stocking up on steaks. He wants to make steak burgers, because he's heard about them (somewhere) and they sounded awesome. From Luceti he had decided he liked steak and he liked hamburgers, so a combination? Gotta be a winner. Nevermind that he's just getting regular old steaks and plans to just put those on a hamburger bun. He'll realize the bones are gonna be a problem later on.

He'll make his customary appearance at the smithy to help New Feathers with weapons. He'll also be around school during the appropriate times for that. In the evening, after his dinner fiasco, he'll be down by the river, on the southern end of town, making some modifications to see if he can't make it sea worthy. Like adding a sail. He's pretty unsatisfied with the results though. Looks like he may need to just make a new boat from scratch. Which necessitates another voice post in the evening. But only after excluding a certain pirate. No offense, Jack, but he wants his own boat.]

So... ship building. Anyone want to help make one? A big one. Not huge, just... sea worthy with a nice strong sail. And good for bringing in lots of fish, too. Any help would be good. Just materials would go a long way.

This guy, Leon, he can enchant weapons with magic. So I was thinking I'd make a real Thunder Axe. But I've not really worked with those before.

Yeah? I could help you make one and probably give you some tips on how to use it. I-I'm not exactly...an axe wielder myself, but I've watched them be wielded a lot, so...

Oh, yeah. Good idea, I don't actually know any axe users around here. [Oh, but that makes him think.] What kind of weapon do you use?

Ahhh, well, you see, the thing about that is...

Iiii don't actually use a weapon. I'm not exactly a, um, warrior.

I guess fighting's not a viking then, huh?

Oh, no, no no no, that's not it at all. Vikings love fighting. It's...a pretty popular pastime on Berk.

But... you're not the fighting type, huh?

Ahh...that would be a negative.

Hey, it's not for everyone, I can respect that. But why smithing, then?

Well, to be honest, that's...just kind of where they stuck me so I'd be out of the way during the raids. It turned out to be pretty much the only viking-esque thing I was good at.

... raids?

[As someone who grew up with raids, that's a word that's not easily missed.]

Ah, yes. Dragon raids, to be more precise. When they came to steal our stuff, everyone else got to go out and fight them. Eeeexcept for me, that is. But all things considered I'm pretty glad about that, actually.

... but don't you have a pet dragon? [If vikings go around fighting dragons though, they'd have to be pretty tough...]

Well, yes, I do, but...dragons and vikings kind of have a complicated past. We used to think they were our enemies because they'd steal our food, but...things kind of worked out and now we work together.

[He'll just leave out the bit about how all that change was brought about because of him.]

Oh. Well, that's convenient. I guess.

[He feels as if there's an important part of this story missing. Like... why they decided to patch things up.]

Ah, yeah, I guess you could put it that way...

Hey, your dragons wouldn't happen to have any special, mystical dragon-y powers, would he? I mean, I'm no dragon expert. They're pretty much extinct in my world, but my buddies found two that taught the 'true meaning' of Firebending or something... in the form of a weird dance.

Um, I guess it depends on what you mean by 'mythical'. My dragon, Toothless? He can shoot fireballs with precise aim. Other dragons can spit scalding hot water at you, light their entire bodies on fire...there was even one entirely composed of bones. But, um...dancing? Nooo, I don't think any of them do that.

[But the thought of Toothless dancing is highly entertaining.]

Wow. So he only breathes fire? That's it? [All those other dragons sound so much more impressive.]

Um, well, I think you're missing the point...he may be only able to breath fire, but he never misses. It's also nearly impossible to see him when he's flying at night. He's practically invisible.

[Don't you go insulting Toothless, Sokka. That's a dangerous game.]

Yeah but... lighting himself entirely on fire! Wouldn't that be way better?

[Nevermind how uncomfortable that would be to ride.]

[And Hiccup's dragon mode has been enabled.]

Wellll...a Monstrous Nightmare?--They're the ones that light themselves on fire--They not that smart, really. Just powerful and, you know, covered in fire. But Night Furies? That's what Toothless is. They're incredibly fast and incredibly smart. Before we became friends with them, Night Furies were the most elusive and the most feared of all dragons. They could destroy a building in one shot, pin-pointing its exact structural weak spot. And no one ever met a Night Fury and lived to tell the tale.

...Until, um, me. I guess.

Uh huh... how did you manage that, then? Raise it as a baby?

[No offense dude, he can't imagine any other scenario where Hiccup would survive meeting a creature like that.]

[Oh, great. He is going to have to go into this, after all.]

I don't know, I sort of...knocked him out of the sky, and then found him later and...didn't kill him. So he didn't kill me. And...things kind of worked up from there.
