Sokka the 54th - [Voice/Action]

[Sokka's day will involve a few things. One of them won't include shoveling all the snow out of the way of his house. It's not that he's lazy, but when his sister can take care of that in less than a minute, why even bother? Later his day will involve working on important things at the smithy, like the metal casing for a certain teleporter. And maybe some weapons or the key-shaped variety. Or helping New Feathers find their weapons so they can go about being dangerous. He'll also do lunch in the plaza... maybe do some shopping.

But why dwell on the bad parts? Before his kidnapping, Sokka is available for running into. Also, in light of the fact the snow is coming down pretty hardcore today and is, frankly, almost a blizzard, he feels inclined to make a voice post in the middle of the day.]

You know, we had that big blizzard about the same time last year. Well, not big big. I've seen bigger. But we had a lot of people get stranded out in that stuff. Actually, I met a lot of people being stranded at the Straw Hat's place... Uh, anyway. Yeah, blizzards. Bad stuff. Better make sure you got a lot of food at home, just in case.

[Hours later, on his way home, he'll meet some delightful metal men who will proceed to knock him out and drag him off, being nice enough to leave his sword and boomerang in the snow.]

Yes. Definitely bad stuff. I don't know how you manage living somewhere with perma-snow.

It's just how it was. I used to have a hard time imagining places where it never snowed.

Whenever I try and imagine it -- all the snow, I mean? All I'm left thinking about is how very many clothes everyone must have to wear always.

A lot. Layering is very important. As a matter of fact, when I met all of the warriors from the Water Tribe in the Earth Kingdom, I was surprised to see many of them weren't quite as chunky as I had imagined.

If you never get to take off your big-old-parka, then no one gets to see your cute outfits.

It's the sacrifice we make for not freezing.

We used to be able to get out more before the war.

[ sure, buffy has had her fair share of warfare but mostly only the kind of underground stuff that dents the running of the world but never in a way to cause anything so serious as a school closure or a curfew. perhaps that is what had made it the hardest on her singular shoulders -- a war to win while still expected to function in the rest of the unwarring world. so she has a moment's pause to contemplate what it must have been like to have a home town boxed in by this kind of thing. a war actually acknowledged and therefore acted upon -- movement restricted for everyone's safety. would it have made it that much easier?

so this talk is actually kind of melancholy and she doesn't really want to compare cribnotes with sokka on their respective kinds of wars and their disadvantages. so, she quickly (and perhaps unexpectedly?) changes tack. ] Sokka -- which of you is younger, between you and Katara?

[Man, after Elicia thought Katara was the older one, this admittedly, makes him frown. Shouldn't it be obvious?]

You can't tell?

My sister is, like, five years younger than me but taller than me. These things are not always obvious.

[Oh, right.] I'm the older one, by a year... year and a half now, actually.

She just got here. [ hence her fixation on siblings. ] And -- oh, that makes sense. Girls mature earlier, anyway.

[What... what does that have to do with-]

We're both past the age where that's even relevant!

And maybe I should get a...a something made for her. Like a sword or a crossbow or a small but cute kinda axe. Engraved, maybe? Late Christmas present? With the added benefit of protection on the go. [ paaaause. ] I don't suppose you guys do pepper spray?

... I'm not exactly sure how you got from weapons to a type of spice.

[In other words, what the hell is pepper spray?]

Pepper spray. It's...like this totally hot spray in a can and you can, like, spray it at attackers and it burns their eyes and they run away. Good for tiny younger sisters who might not be so pumped up in the strength stat.

I'm liking the sound of this. Do you know how it's made?

[Dawn's safety is completely forgotten. Sokka is already thinking of the weaponizing potential of this spray.]

Well, I don't know the science of it but -- uh -- like, take the hottest chili pepper you can find it and make all that hotness into a liquid and put that liquid in a spray canister and, voila! Pocket-sized pain! If you get attacked, you just pull this out and aim for the eyes.
