Sokka the 47th - [Voice/Action]

I guess that's it for the new people, unless it starts up again this month. Well, anyway, I'm Sokka. Or Sokka Thunderaxe as some have been known to call me. I'm fine with either one.

I run the smithy here in town, known as the Slash 'n Crash, along with Edward and Winry. They both work for me. [They don't, but this is some rather obvious trolling here.] So if you need any kind of weapons made, or sharpened, or you know... some other kind of odd job. I'm the go to guy for that. There isn't money, so... the stuff is free. But we do accept favors as payment! Or food. Or well, anything. Just ask for me, Sokka. That's with an okka. [Accept no substitutes.]

Sooooo. [A beat.] How did it go?

[For you action lovers out there, Sokka can be found at his usual haunts. School, the smithy, eating lunch in the plaza, or generally hanging out around his house.]

Trench knives. [He puts a dagger back down on a table.] A pair from home, anyways. I've been looking for them ever since I showed up here, but no sign yet.

Maybe they were put in the wrong place. [Sokka gets up from the couch and walks past Shikamaru, poking around for some knives.]

Usually they show up the first day.

If they've been here this whole time, they've been stuck in a good hiding spot. [He moves to give him room.]

Let's see here...

[He looks all over the place. The knife display, the other weapon racks, the New Feather weapon display, eventually he gives up and finds them in the scrap metal pile.]

Huh. How did they end up there?

[Shikamaru was just idly looking at some of the other blades, pocketing some shuriken an a couple of kunai, when he hears that.]

It's what we use for melting stuff down. [Just shaking his head.]

Must have been Winry.

[TWITCH. But a girl, huh? It would figure.

He sighs.] Troublesome woman...

But thanks. I guess I owe you one. Would've been a real pain in the ass if they got melted down. [A shame too - they're a pretty cool looking set.]

[Or Sokka might have done it. They look like just jagged metal shards to him.]

I could have made replacements, though!

Heh. As good of a metalworker as you might be, it would've been tough to replace these. They belonged to my sensei. [And are made out of a very special metal that channels chakra, but he'll just stick to the sentimental value.]

Oh. Yeah, you can't make that. [His sword and boomerang have the same sentimental attachment to him.]

When I first got here. She explained some things about the place. [She also loaned him your pai sho board for about an hour, but he won't mention that.]

Oh. [So she was just helping a New Feather. No harm done.]

Yeah, we all end up doing our part to help people settle in.

So I've noticed. [Too helpful at times, he thinks, though that's the cynic in him. Really, it's a shame more people aren't like that.] Always good to see that in people. Say hi to her for me, will ya?

[He walks over to the couch and grabs his journal.]

[And suddenly those bits of conversation he heard before are so much more amusing. He takes the journal with a nod.] Yo.

[Katara had put the journal down for a bit to concentrate some more on her homework, and she's a little surprised when Shikamaru's voice comes through what she has slated as her brother's journal.]

Hey, Shikamaru! [Peering at the book now.] What's up?

[AHA. She knows who he is. From his voice. Very interesting.
