Wang Fire 2 - [Action/Voice]

[The recent arrival of Hawky has Sokka remembering the Fire Nation. The old days... when Sokka was another person. When he was a man. A man with a beard. Not only that, but it's a rather warm day for September. Sort of like... a Fire Nation summer. And it just so happens, he has a beard. He always has a beard. So he digs out his long neglected Fire Nation clothes (which are tighter than he remembered them being), moves his hair up into a top knot, uses some red dye on his wings, and applies a layer of glue to his face and eyebrows, applying his beard and busy brows. Wang Fire is back.

He sets up a booth in front of the plaza. Beside him, on a special stand, is Hawky. Cleverly disguised as well, with a small fez (with a Fire Nation emblem) strapped on his head. He is, of course, giving free advice today. He even leaves a voice post on the journal, using a very deep voice that sounds nothing like Sokka.]

Fellow citizens of Luceti. Do you need... advice? If you do, talk to the great Wang Fire. Troubled romance, missing home, family issues, or even trouble deciding what to eat for dinner. I can help!

((ooc: Will be answering tags with [livejournal.com profile] beardofthewise. And yes, canonically, this is actually a convincing disguise. >.>))

His name is Edward. He works at the smithy already, very obsessive about swords. Very, very naive. He's not quite a pirate captain, but I think you could teach him to act like one.
all7seas: (considering/sad)

[personal profile] all7seas 2010-09-21 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Edward, eh?

And he'll be willing to sacrifice his honor for a dirty pirate what he doesn't know?

[And if Buffy already knows him...]

Death god'll likely kill me before I can make any of it work, my good philosopher.

[identity profile] beardofthewise.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[Would Edward do that? Hmm... hard to say. Sokka would have to psyche him up for it. He'll come back around to that later.]

Have you considered seeking the help of other gods?
all7seas: (hmmmm....)

[personal profile] all7seas 2010-09-21 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Aye...Tia, like. Maybe. She might be convinced with a bit of persuasion on my part.

[identity profile] beardofthewise.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[Tia? Hm.]

Or perhaps Ammy. She's a wolf goddess. Not like Moro, mind you. She likes people. You'd only need tasty meats to persuade her to help.
all7seas: (ewwww)

[personal profile] all7seas 2010-09-21 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[At "wolf goddess," Jack tenses. At "not like Moro," he relaxes. He wants to keep his legs, and doesn't need two gods angry at him.]

Aye---that sounds about right. Hire her, like? Pay in meat. That might not be a bad idea, wise one.

The William Turner situation, though--not quite sure how it got so out of hand. It were MEANT to be a joke.

[identity profile] beardofthewise.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Meat and respect, that's all she wants. [It's like she's what Sokka would be if he was a wolf. And a god. And female.]

Well, you can't turn back now, can you?
all7seas: (this is a conundrum)

[personal profile] all7seas 2010-09-21 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
No. And if she finds out what I've done...

It might be better to go running off to the death god.

[identity profile] beardofthewise.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
You have options, then. Good.
all7seas: (hempen halter)

[personal profile] all7seas 2010-09-21 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
.....There's always options. Now, since you know him--what would be the best way of signing on this Edward fellow? Because the only way I see of this never coming out is if Will Turner is somehow permanently killed, and in this place that's askin' a lot.

[identity profile] beardofthewise.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[A good point. But, if Sokka is fooling Jack, right now...]

He'd need a good disguise. Maybe dye his hair, a fake beard... a small one, not like mine. Which is real. [Ponder ponder.]

He would need a fake home, too. So it can later be cleared out, like he was sent home. As for convincing him... I know someone who can talk to him.
all7seas: (stars seem to lose their place)

[personal profile] all7seas 2010-09-21 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[Jack is none the wiser; he's too busy also pondering.]

Aye, aye, fake beard would do, but not of the bigness of your beard, old father. Fact, it's more a mustache-chin warmer combination, bit scraggly really. Lad's trying to prove something by it, likely.

Oh really? Everything would be a deal easier to manage if this place had currency other than souls and blood and other messy entangling things.

[identity profile] beardofthewise.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Worry not, friend. For this, I do free of charge. Blood and souls are not required.
all7seas: (any way you slice it)

[personal profile] all7seas 2010-09-21 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Deal! [You can't put a price on free.]

But, wasn't meaning YOU, sir; meant convincing others to help me who don't stand to profit by it. Difficult, that.

[identity profile] beardofthewise.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
Sometimes helping others is itself the reward, itself. They would have your gratitude.
all7seas: (...one of you succeeded)

[personal profile] all7seas 2010-09-22 11:47 am (UTC)(link)
"Gratitude" means different things to different folks, Man Who Occasionally Reminds Me of Thunderaxe...

[identity profile] beardofthewise.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
The best kind of currency is the kind that is open to interpretation.
all7seas: (human hair...from my back)

[personal profile] all7seas 2010-09-22 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
So how do you interpret my debt to you for this advice, mate?

[identity profile] beardofthewise.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Tell me the name of this woman that "Will Turner" must meet and satisfy my curiosity, then our debt is settled.
all7seas: (pretend it's all a bad dream)

[personal profile] all7seas 2010-09-23 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
[The pirate leans in close, looking around him before imparting the following information in a whisper:]

Buffy Summers, mate. BUT LOOK--it ain't like that, I don't want to impress her with being BETTER than Will Turner. The very idea! Such a thing requires no proof at all. No, I want to impress upon her that Will Turner and myself are not in fact one and the same, but are different and highly individual separate persons what aren't the same bloke. Savvy?

[identity profile] beardofthewise.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
[He almost chokes:] Buffy!? [But... composing himself. Sorry, he just can't see it at all.] Yes... I think I know of her. Blonde, on the short side. A barmaid, I believe?
all7seas: (I like you)

[personal profile] all7seas 2010-09-23 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
That's her, aye! And if she finds out I'm posing as William Turner, she'll...not be happy.

[identity profile] beardofthewise.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't think you need to worry about that too much. [He assumes that Buffy is rather helpless, actually.]
all7seas: (pretend it's all a bad dream)

[personal profile] all7seas 2010-09-23 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
Really? Why? [Does this wise man know something he doesn't about the Slayer and her feelings?]
