Sokka the 38th - [Action]

[Shortly after the draft meeting, Sokka has been hanging out inside, pouring over the recon information Albert had provided a month prior, and matching it up with what Caesar had gone over. He wasn't the designated leader of his team, not really. There was possibly more qualified people for that. Brook and Erza came to mind, for that. Still, he could work on their own strategy. Their best defensive position would be the river. They just had to get there. Maybe... it wouldn't hurt to go talk to the people he'd be working with. If he can't stop them after they leave the meeting, he'll be going to the homes of any of his soon-to-be comrades. Well, assuming he knows where they live, at least. "Team A", huh.

... heh. Kind of like Team Avatar. Only without the Avatar.

Afterward, he figures it wouldn't hurt to make a few more stops. Since seeing Brook, Usopp and Chopper already necessitated a trip to the Straw Hats, he'll be making some quick stops at Mayoi's, Winry's, Xion's, and even Edward's. Lastly he'll even hit up Paru, since they are neighbors, after all. Of course, who's to say the people Sokka's looking for will actually answer the door and not someone else? No one, that's who! Once he's done making his rounds, time consuming as they are, he'll be spending the rest of his evening on his front porch, reviewing the plans. Silverbergs. Jeez.]

[After getting Sigmund's message, Edward pays a visit to Sokka's place once again, this time to see Sokka specifically rather than oogle his sister's waterbending. Still chilling on the porch, little buddy?]

[He is! But he's not little. Okay, well, he is. But only compared to you. Stop setting standards, dude.]

Ed! [You've been spotted. Sokka doesn't get up, obviously you should just join him.]

[Edward offers a friendly nod in greeting, heading over to stand by the porch. He doesn't invade someone's space without an invite ~~unless he's bitchy and aggressive~~.]

Lord Sigmund said you were looking for me?

[Gee, fine. Sokka stands up then.]

I guess you know I'll be heading to the battle tomorrow, right?

[Ah yes, that. He's been trying not to think about that, sob.]

...I do, yes. Will you be alright?

Yeah, I'll be fine. It's not my first battle. [This isn't about Sokka.]

Actually I was hoping you could do something for me.

[Huh, not what he was expecting. Then again, he wasn't exactly expecting Sokka to sit around bemoaning his fate, either.]

Well, I know Winry has her other Ed friend and he's fine and everything... but it's just going to be you two at the smithy. So don't let her overwork herself.

[Or yourself, dude. Because he knows you like to.]

[...Pfffft. Oh, Sokka, you're hilarious.]

I'm not sure if she'll listen to me. [Considering the last time he tried to tell her she might be working too hard. And he's a lost cause with Sigmund around.]

Of course not. You can't just say, "Winry you're working too hard." You have to provide a distraction. Tell a funny story or something. Ice cream always works too. Just make something up and you'll be fine.

[This is all probably a hopelessly lost cause.]

[....A... funny story. Or getting her ice cream. Obviously those are the only options that might get attempted - well okay, maybe just the ice cream bit - because Edward fails horribly at social interaction. Awesome, thanks Sokka. ~~orz~~]

It doesn't bother me. [They probably won't listen to each other either way. ...Though why is she in charge, he should have seniority. 8| For that matter since when does Sokka have the authority to- ...no big deal.]

Are you sure? I mean, if she starts bossing you around, you don't have to listen. [Sokka doesn't think this will happen, but it's an amusing thought. In any case, Edward lost seniority when he went home. So there.]

I probably won't. [No sense in beating around the bush about it. If Sigmund was in charge, he'd behave. Winry? Yyyyyeah no. He doesn't even listen to Aya, and she's a princess.] Just make sure you come back safely, or there may be cause for concern.

[Good enough. Sokka nods.]

Don't worry, I'll be fine. I'll be using your chainmail, after all. And I've been training for this for a long time.

[W-well.] ...I hope it holds together. Bring it back if it gets damaged.

[It's armor, Ed! It's meant to be used.]

Of course. But I'm sure it will be just fine. [Because it's Mithril. You remembered to use the true silver, right? We keep it between the adamantium and the unobtanium.]

[Oh, he knows that. He lives with a perfect example of armor abuse.]

I expect to get a report on its performance after you've returned.

... how much do I have to write? [This sounds suspiciously like schoolwork now. Which he never actually did, but it sounded so ominous and intimidating when Raine handed it out.]

[Oh, that expression is just asking for this.] I think at least five pages would be sufficient.

[Wait... is he serious? Of course he is, it's Edward. He's always serious.]
