[This seems like a nice, ridiculous number of people to invite. For three canoes. Despite Yellow's suggestion, he doesn't include Red. He barely knows the guy, after all. Gold... well, he doesn't seem so bad.]

So some of you may have heard I was planning a little fishing trip soon. Not just going down the lake for the day, though! A few days camping under the stars, eating what we catch, living like real men! And uh, women! Just real living! It'll be great, trust me. There's even beach party opportunities, if you know what I mean. If all goes well, we leave this Sunday. So who's in?

So uh.. I hope you guys don't mind if I miss training for a few days. I'll be taking some friends of mine on a big fishing trip for a few days. Unwind! Enjoy nature! That sort of thing. I'll try to keep up my practice on my own, but it would take a few hours to go meeting you guys back in the village, given where we're going.

Hey, Edward. You okay with watching the smithy next week? I won't be around to run it. Oh and for everyone else, does anyone know any good creepy ghost stories for campfire situations? The creepier, the better!

[Once Sokka has made his messages sent out, he decides to enjoy the day off he scheduled himself from the smithy. So aside from attending school that day (and noting a specific lack of his sister, he decides to hang out on his roof practicing with a new flute he found. As it turns out, he's not very good with it just yet. Feel free to tell him to stop polluting the air with those horrible sounds. Hours later in the evening, he'll be off in the woods, deciding to enjoy some hunting. Anyone out in the woods at the time might find him skulking through the woods in his Water Tribe armor complete with wolf helmet. Because... he just likes an excuse to wear it.]

[Ohoho. Is that so? Sigmund pulls the hem of his shirt free so that he can fastidiously clean the mouthpiece, looks over the holes to get an idea of what key it's in, and then puts it to his mouth and... plays a short, jaunty tune. Disappointed, Sokka?]

[He frowns. Okay, so it's not bad.]

Yeah, I guess that was okay.

[Unfortunately (or possibly fortunately?), Sigmund isn't so kindly disposed to giving him lessons in anything after Sokka's last refusal. So he wipes the flute off again and hands it back.]

Practice somewhere else.

... [This is said with the utmost sincerity, a little incredulity, and perhaps even a little concern-] Are you tone deaf?

[Staring expectantly. He is seriously concerned for the state of your eardrums, Sokka.]

Of course I do! [A dramatic roll of the eyes.] I'll have you know I have the makings of a great musician. I just haven't had time to perfect the craft!

[Oh, good. He wasn't mocking a disabled boy. That would have been cruel. Holding back a scoff now.] You will need a long time.

Ha! That shows how much you know! I only started playing today.

Yeah, well...! [He actually doesn't have anywhere he's going with this.] I'll figure it out.

[Sigmund stares at him and... sighs, remembering a follower who was very concerned about this matter. Not that he particularly cares what Sokka thinks about him, but...] If you wish, I can teach you what little I know.

[Sokka is about to object, but then he suddenly remembers... Sigmund is dead. And that sombers him a bit. Maybe he should stop giving the guy such a hard time for being so dense.]

Actually, that's not a bad idea. [He hands the flute over.] What was that tune you played?

[Sigmund is actually rather surprised by that. He figured that Sokka would refuse again, and he'd climb down off this roof and tell Edward that he'd tried his best. He didn't think he'd really give an impromptu lesson. Still... he hands the flute back.]

[Fine! Taking the flute back again. He stares at it a bit, particularly at the holes.] Right, right. The Valere... [He's just not sure where his fingers need to go for each bit. He's been mostly trying to sound things out on his own.]

[Sigmund watches him for a moment with a little frown, and then reaches over to adjust his hands.]

The more holes covered, the higher the note. You should learn to find your notes before you try to play a song.
