Sokka the 24th - [Action]

[Today Sokka has excused himself from work, because really, Edward is a frigging beast and he's not too happy about the new couch just yet, so hanging out here with nothing to do is kind of pointless. So today he's working hard on one of his other, more important projects. Namely, building a few more canoes, now that he's determined the prototype to be perfectly safe. So Sokka is over beside House 56 (facing House 57 and the road to the barracks), sawing the wood for the second canoe in his 'fleet'.

If you're one of the people who agreed to help him, feel free to already be there doing so. Or if you just happen to be out and about in this obscure part of Luceti, feel free to gawk.]

... oh. [He can't imagine what that would even be like. He stops working altogether for the moment.] Our dad is the chief of our tribe. Our mother... we lost her six years ago.

My dad is pretty amazing. He's a real genius and a great warrior. When he speaks up, everyone listens. He had to go to war two years ago, but we were able to find him again when we left the South Pole with Aang.

[He slowly starts working again after that.] ... I can barely remember our mom.

[He inspects his work for a moment, thinking.] My mom is our village chief. Well, I'm supposed to be the chief soon, but I'm not sure if I'm ready for it yet. [He hands it over to Sokka.] She's tough, tougher than most women I see. I've got big shoes to fill in.

[Ah, fellow future chiefs. He never knew!] You too, huh? I know what you mean. I thought I was ready, but... not so much anymore. [He looks over Hugo's handiwork and nods.] That should work.

[And he hands it back in case Hugo needs to compare.] No offense though, but aren't you a little young to be chief? I mean, it'll be a long time before I ever have to take over for my dad. Did something happen to your mom?

[Okay then, will start working on the second one as soon as he takes that one off your hands.] Well, I won't be chief now-- [At least he hopes not. He still has a lot to learn.] --but she wants to train me into becoming a good one.

Oh, well that's different! [And he goes back to hammering again.]

I guess it's only a matter of time before my dad starts doing the same thing. We still have a lot of rebuilding to do first, though.

Because of the war. The Fire Nation attacked our village relentlessly for the last one hundred years, since the war started. Now that the war is over... it's going to take a long time for our village to become a city again.

[He glances over at Hugo. Well, while they're being depressing...]

You were in a war too, right? Against the... Destroyers, right?

[He nods at that.] You know about it?

I've heard things, yeah. [After a lot of prying.] I don't know a whole lot about it though.

It's not really something we just talk about. [Well, at least, Caesar told him not to mention it.]

[... which is weird. But he has a hunch why. Well, he's not sure about Caesar and the others, but he does trust Hugo, so...]
