[After a month of planning and a week of top secret work, Sokka has finished the final touches on the prototype canoe for the fleet that has yet to be built. And by finished, he of course made use of Usopp constantly. But what are across-town neighbors for anyway? So after getting his pride and joy finished, including a nice coat of paint (it's blue!) with the Water Tribe Emblem on both sides and in what is most likely a suicidal move, the Straw Hat flag mounted on the back.

An eager Sokka has already managed to pull it all the way past House #4 (with wheels obviously!) so he can test if its seaworthy (well, riverworthy) as he rides it down to the river all the way back towards his home next to the barracks. Even though he isn't planning on getting to it, he's brought along his fishing pole and some bait, just in case he gets swept down to the lake and has to survive on his own fishing and cooking skills for weeks on end while waiting for a rescue that might not ever come. So. Just in case. People may of course notice him sailing downstream and possibly try to drop things on him as he goes under the bridges.

Before he'll go though, he'll 'accidentally' leave his journal open for an 'accidental' voice post.]

This is Sokka. Casting off into the big, er, small blue... maybe kind of greenish brownish river in my vessel, The Insert Name Here. Wish me luck.

Are you sure about that? I mean, there's that dog who keeps finding his way in my house. He doesn't seem so special. And then there's that mouse that lives with you guys...

You mean the dog that was smoking a pipe when I came in and the mouse that wears a little red shawl and helped Sanji-kun make soup the other night?

[Snicker.] Miyabi says she's a messenger of the gods and speaks about Amaterasu with a lot of reverence, so I'm more inclined to believe it.

Eh. I guess so. [Miyabi is cool and all, but her power is being tiny. And she can drown in soda. That's really not all that impressive.]

[Miyabi also has the power of cute drunken flailing.]

Anyway, I'll give you a hand in a few days. I have to say I've never tried building a boat. But I know boats, so I should catch on fast.

Well I used to help my dad make boats when I was a kid and then I had to do all the maintenance work on them after he left for the war. So I know boats, its just making them out of wood that took a little extra work.

You didn't make yours out of wood at home?

Surprising as it may sound, trees aren't very common in the South Pole. I mean, at all.

Well, that was more curiosity than surprise. What did you use?

Animals. Generally whalebone and skin, since they were the biggest animals we could bring in.

That'd do it. I haven't really seen any place which is just ice and snow in our world, but I'm sure it exists. Wonder if they'd do the same.

Maybe? I don't think the Northern Water Tribe did the same thing. Their boats were a little more... elaborate.

Maybe they had access to materials you didn't. Or imported some from somewhere.

That could be! I know my dad's fleet were of different construction than our stuff back home.

A lot of things were difficult. But that's war for you.

What about you guys? Where did you get your ship?

It was built for us at an island we visited. Where we met Usopp, actually. His village was under threat by a bunch of the ...more traditional pirates, I'd guess you'd say. We drove them off.

So I guess you could say the ship was a thank you present. Well ...our first ship, anyway. The second one was built at an official shipyard and was a lot bigger, but I kind of miss the first one.

Wow. We chased off Fire Nation soldiers from all kinds of villages and we never got a thank you present like that.

Guess we were just lucky.

Well we did get to steal an actual airship after I busted Suki and my dad out of prison. I guess that's almost as good. If not better.

Oh, you guys have airships too, huh?
