Sokka the 18th - [Action]

[So after Katara has had her counseling session (with Sokka naturally following her around and being even more Batman super spy than usual), the two will be heading deep in the forest to search for Zuko. They'll try to raise him a few times on the journals, but are otherwise prepared to stay a few nights in the forest, even packing enough gear to spend a few nights camping if need be. After the loss of Toph, Sokka has no intention of seeing their missing comrade suffering a similar fate.

If for some reason your character is out deep in the forest, they may run across the two Watersibs combing their way through the forest. They may not exactly be the most conversational, but they'll probably talk to you if there's good reason to. Feel free to run into them while they're either hiking or if it's late in the day, setting up camp for the night.

Note: Either Katara or Sokka (or both) will answer your character.]

I keep forgetting that you've been here longer than me.

[She glances up.] The stars are in different patterns here.

[markofthewise]

Yeah. [He stares up at them. The stars were different when they went from the South Pole to the North Pole... but there was at least the familiarity of the Moon there.

But this isn't even the same Moon.] I wonder if people have picked out new constellations here.

That one looks kind of like a tigerdillo.

You mean that one? I was going to say it looked like you.

[markofthebrave]

Jerk. And here I was being nice and not pointing out how that one reminded me of your big ears.

I happen to be quite proud of my freakishly large ears.

That's a new tune. [Dinner's done. She'll automatically portion him out a serving and hand it to him. Instead of eating herself, she lies back to get a better look at the sky. She hasn't eaten much since yesterday, even though she knows she needs to keep up her strength.]

That one looks like a dragon.

[markofthewise]

[He starts eating, occasionally looking up at the stars.] You know, Aang got to see real dragons. [But he then notices she isn't eating.] Not hungry?

[markofthebrave]

[Busted. Rather than answer, she'll sigh and lever herself up to grab a small portion and poke at it.]

When he and Zuko went to learn firebending, right? That sounds amazing... maybe when we get back, they'll bring us to go see.

[markofthewise]

Just as long as we don't have to survive the whole engulfed in flames thing, I'm completely down with that.

[markofthebrave]

Heh. [And she pokes more at her food. Poke, poke.]

It would be nice just to see them...

[markofthewise]

Yeah...

[But now he knows there's something they need to talk about.] I know you're planning something, Katara. I'm not sure what it is. But I think you should tell me.

[markofthebrave]

[Sigh.] I'm not planning anything... yet. If I was, I'd tell you. I'd need your help to pull it off, anyway.

[markofthewise]

[There's a moment of reluctance. He doesn't want to admit he hacked her filter.]

Would you really?

[markofthebrave]

Yeah. [Pause -- and she remembers what he said to her the last time she went off on a plan on her own and got into a mess. She'll lever herself up and look at him.] I'd rather plan something that works than need you guys to help me clean up.

I asked some people for some information today. I had an idea, but now I don't think it will work. So I'm thinking about something else... but finding Zuko is more important, that can wait.

[markofthewise]

[Well she's handling it more rationally than he expected. That's encouraging at least.]

Just... don't do anything without talking to me, okay? I don't want to end up alone here, you know.

[markofthebrave]

[She can be rational! This is why she was looking for information. If she thought for a second that it would work... then the situation would be different. But no one seemed to know why the droids come or anything to get her to make them come.]

You won't be. Toph will be back. I'm not going anywhere. [Yet.] And you've made friends here.

[markofthewise]

Friends, yes. But they aren't family. [And that's a definition he extends to Aang and Toph. And Momo. Iffy on Appa.]

[markofthebrave]

[Katara doesn't have anything to say to that. She is just going to poke at the food she still hasn't eaten. She doesn't want to think about how her actions could affect him, because she knows that when it comes down to it, she'll still have to do what she has to. And she knows that he will too.]

[markofthewise]

[After some silence, he'll just change the subject.] Poking at your food won't make it go away. Eat up, we'll have even more walking tomorrow than we did today.

[markofthebrave]

I'm not hungry. [She sets the bowl away.] Do you want anymore?

[markofthewise]

... yeah, I guess I might as well. [But if she doesn't eat in the morning, he'll just have to force feed her.]

[markofthebrave]

[She serves him some more and then lays back down. After a moment she'll start to talk again.]

So what do you think you could learn if we matched to catch one of the Malnosso's machines?

[markofthewise]

... a lot, I guess. We would know what their weaknesses are. How they are controlled... Maybe even find a way to make our own. I managed to nail one with my Boomerang once, but that didn't seem to slow it down at all.

[markofthebrave]

Hmm... [She'll sit up and grab her food and absently start to pick at it as she talks.]

I heard that there were some in the village that looked almost human. Maybe we can start there? Or do you think we'd need to find a way to catch a droid?
