[So after going around breaking hearts and fighting evil demons, Sokka has found a new hobby to get his mind off of how annoying Luceti can be. That hobby? Cooking!

Surprisingly enough, despite the fact he's used the smithy as his personal kitchen for the past few days, Sokka has managed to complete a batch of eel jerky (or rather, a dish of mán xiāng consisting of salt cured eel) that actually doesn't taste absolutely horrible. It's nothing exceptional, but it is rather tasty. He's set out a plate of the stuff in the smithy, along with some vinegar bowl in a display that looks nowhere near as nice as this picture. At the very least it looks edible. Anyone who for whatever reason decides to drop by the smithy today are more than welcome to try some of Sokka's latest cooking experiment. Otherwise he's going to be inviting people over the journal.]

Hey Sanji, Brook! I finished the eel jerky I told you about. If you want to drop by you can have some. Anyone else who wants some can drop by too, but it probably won't last long if everyone does, though.

Oh, do you not like the color? It might be a little late now.

I'm not really concerned. Red? Blue? It doesn't bother me. I figured I'd let her pick what she likes.

So do you have a weapon you use?

No, I don't fight. Neuro fights.

Neuro? Who is that?

He's... a friend, from back home.

Oh. You probably miss him.

I do. I miss him a lot.

But I try not to think about it since it just makes me sad, or if I do, I try to think about the friends I've made here, instead.

And the important thing is, he's in a better place than we are. I try to do the same thing too, although sometimes I can't help but think about the people back home.

And isn't that the feeling of everyone here? It feels like something that could make us all really close, if we let it.

That may not be a good thing, though. I know that I can go back with my friends, but the people I meet here... I might not ever see them again. Or remember them, for that matter.

Yeah. You're right. I'm just... trying to make the best of it.

[He brightens up and smiles.] Well, just because we might not remember, doesn't mean that will happen. In the end, there might be a way for us all to go to our homes, but still see each other afterward.

Oh, I hope something like that would happen. Maybe they could modify the journals to work across different worlds.

Now that's an idea I could get behind.

I wish I, or someone else because I'm not really good at this, could figure out how exactly these worked, in terms of transmitting. Then we might have an idea of how to modify them.

I haven't had much luck with that. Filters, sure, but how they work? Not so much. It looks like normal paper, but...

It's a form of magic, I'm guessing. I mean, I don't have very much experience with magic, but it would take a very sophisticated level of technology to do something like this. Of course, that doesn't mean it's not that....

Or a combination of the two. The Earth Kingdom powered most of their technology with Earthbending.

That might be the only way to pull so many people from different worlds, and keep doing it. But even then their powers must have limitations, because they only do it at a certain time. If they could do it just whenever they wanted, I'm sure they would be, instead of generating a sudden influx.

Well, I don't think it quite works that way. As I understand it, we arrive here by some other means... like pulling a plug on a drain, we all just sort of get flushed into this world from all these different places. Apparently the Malnosso just put us in the barrier because we're 'special' or something. I'm not sure how that relates to the cycle though, but it probably has something to do with those marks they put on the back of our necks.

Well, still, that would require energy to do. Plugs don't pull themselves. And I was just under the impression that the bar codes were just a way of identifying us. Do they do something else?
