[And that's all Sokka is saying. Everyone invited will likely know this isn't some pitch-in lunch (well, it is kinda) but actually a SEEKRET MEETING to discuss the three main threats and the trap Sokka has been planning. Also that special friends are meant to be those who really should hear this and could be useful to the mission. Not boyfriends. He's talking about you Katara.

Whenever they arrive, the front room will have been set up with multiple chairs and the couches arranged in a circle, all directed to the back of the room where an easel with charts is set up.]

[Katara is slightly taken-aback by Sanji's... enthusiasm. On the other hand, she's just had a long day of Sokka leaving out important details like the species of their company and finding out just how much he'd talked about her while he was here on his own -- which is to say not at all. So this is good for her ego. She smiles back.]

It's nice of you to say so! What did you make? It smells delicious.

[You're getting a slightly dirty look, Sokka. Bite him. He's being polite whether you like it or not.

Katara on the other hand is treated to a kind smile]

Nothing special! A few finger foods to tide everyone off during the meeting.

[He's been getting glares from Katara for the past hour or so. He can deal with it. Besides, this is his sister. He TOLD you not to do this.]

I should probably eat some now, since I can't talk while explaining the plan...

[Katara? Is ignoring you Sokka.]

Oh, that will be perfect! I just made soup since it was so cold and a few things for sandwiches... and Luffy brought meat.

[Sigh. OK, that didn't last long.] There's plenty for you, Sokka.

[Sokka told him not to flirt! Sanji is gonna have to pull him aside later and explain Katara is unfortunately too young for his tastes.

And Sanji will just facepalm at the mention of Luffy. Oi.]

That rubber idiot would. But thank you, Katara-chan~! I'm sure anything you make will be delicious. [he does plan to sample her food]

If we run out, I'm sure the two of us can make you something else, Sokka.

Yeah, yeah. You two [almost saying 'girls' there, what a save!] can keep talking about making food. I'm going to go get things ready.

[Sokka snatches one of Luffy's pieces of meat and heads off to where his stuff is, making sure things are in order.]

You could at least say 'thank you!'

[She turns to Sanji, her expression wry.] Don't mind Sokka. He's just rude sometimes.

I've have a few months to get used to it. [there might have been a foot waved in Sokka's direction, too, but that's probably not something that needs to be said]

But him aside, I'd like to sample some of Katara-chan's food now!

Oh! Sure, if you like.

[Katara will take a bowl and casually bend some soup into it -- more out of habit than anything else. She's no professional chef, she's a fourteen year old girl who's been cooking since she was eight. The soup will be nothing spectacular, but tasty enough.]

[he switches into chef!mode while he eats, noting off the flavors, ingredients, how they were put together... though at last he smiles, seeming to be pleased for whatever reason]

It tastes like you know what you're doing. Have you been cooking for a long time?

A little while. [Nearly as long as she can remember.] There were a lot of mouths to feed back home. My Gran-Gran needed all the help she could get, and then... [she trails off, shrugging] I guess it just became my responsibility.

I take it your brother didn't pick up much slack. [disapproving froooooooown]

[Fed up with her brother as she currently is, Sokka is still family and about to make a presentation. She's not going to let anyone else talk seriously badly about him or say anything that will undermine him, even if a small part of her privately agrees.]

Sokka had other responsibilities. After Dad left with the other men of our tribe to fight in the war, he was the oldest man left. He took protecting us very seriously. [Even if it meant drilling four-to-six year olds and playing in the snow building a watch tower while she had to do chores.] And he had to do a lot of the hunting.

[Sanji mulls over that silently. He knows nothing about their culture and so can't formulate opinions, but Katara would know her brother better than him]

Is that why he's the "plan guy" then?

No, he's the plan guy because he's Sokka. [Half-shrug] He takes after our dad like that.
