Sokka the 71st - [Action/Voice]

[Today, Sokka starts out with some simple messages for the journal.]

I know this is pretty late, but... Luceti has a way of causing delays. I got a lot of orders two months ago and they're all finally finished. If you haven't already picked them up, then... well, you should do that. I think you'll be pleased. [ooc: if you want to assume they already picked this stuff up a while ago, that's fine too!]

So, now that it's nice and warm these days, how do people feel about... fishing? I just made my own fishing rod, so I'm thinking tomorrow morning? Fishing time. On the river, maybe. Or I could bring out one of the boats and head to the lake. Some company wouldn't hurt. As long as you're not the noisy kind. I uh, actually want to catch some fish.

20th

[For today, Sokka works his regular shift at the smithy. From morning until the afternoon, he's at the smithy. There's not much to do now that he's done, so he straightens things out, hangs out on the couch with an alchemy book in his face, or if he gets bored with that... he reaches for his fishing rod under the couch and does a few practice casts. If he thinks no one will catch him doing it. Winry wouldn't approve. 8|

In the afternoon, he'll be around House 56 in the front and back yard, with a can of dirt and pushing over rocks and stones looking for worms underneath. A good fisherman needs his bait, after all! And he wants to be ready for tomorrow!]

21st

[As soon as his sparring practice is over, Sokka sets himself up on the southernmost bridge in town. Sure, it's a little gloomy today, but still time to fish. He has a chair, he has a fishing line, he has a cold box to put fish in, and he has not shortage of snacks and drinks. About ten minutes into his fishing, he gets drenched. Watch as poor Sokka has to gather up his stuff and flee back home. Later when he has an umbrella, he dejectedly heads to the smithy to put in a few hours. And then a few more hours later at the library to do alchemy research. No fishing today. :(]

22nd

[After a rainy day and rainy night, Sokka wakes up to A BIG BEAUTIFUL RAINBOW. He'll try to rush through his morning training, that way he can head to the river west of his house and ready a canoe. With a clear sky above, he's going out to the lake for fishing. There's room enough for two, for anyone eager to join. Following that, he'll be out on the southern lake fishing, cooking fish on the shore for lunch, and enjoying a good solid day off. STRESS FREE.]

[Now she has a look of concern.]

Is that a "been laughing too hard lately" kind of aching ribs?

...Kraken battle. Thanks to that mission I just got back to. They shipped us back a little early and I didn't get to take full advantage of my uncapped healing outside the barrier.

[markofthewise]

[Okay, that gets a sympathetic wince.]

Have you tried taking advantage of the unlimited supply of fancy healers around?

Jack tried. [ the pirate is dabbling less than successfully in nala's company. ] But otherwise? I'm not big on the fancy healing. Other than my own, I mean.

Well, Katara's healing is very practical and not very fancy at all. She can do it with water, straight out of the river!

[He usually doesn't prop up Katara like that, but if it's for the sake of a little humor, he'll MAKE THAT SACRIFICE.]

[herotypical]

Mmhm. So I've seen. I was suitably impressed. [ and even more convinced that she wants katara on her side.

but buffy sits back and stakes her roasting stick into the ground. ] Still not sure if I'd jump for the chance to try it out.

As much as I don't want this to sound weird, frankly? I actually like it. The whole thing is really kind of... refreshing. Not to mention convenient. But it feels good!

[Even though it's his sister doing it. So yeah. Weird.]

No, no. I get it. I never mind it from Willow. But -- it takes trust, I guess. To let someone do that.

[markofthewise]

Or being unconscious.

[herotypical]

[ buffy laughs. ]

I...try not to let it get that far.

I'm pretty sure nobody tries to get knocked unconscious.

[herotypical]

...Knowing Giles for ten years makes me inclined to say otherwise. [ her heart doesn't hurt to say his name, anymore. just a slight twinge. maybe time can heal all wounds.

but until then? it's possible that she needs distractions. ] Hey. That's your canoe, right?

[markofthewise]

[He gives her a worried look when she mentions him. He understands completely when she changes the subject.]

Yeah. That one's the Yue. [Which is his own personal heart ache. So uh.] Are you looking for a ride back?

[herotypical]

Well, if you're offering before I even have to ask...

[ she curls a wayward strand of hair behind her ear and takes more careful note of the canoe named for sokka's ex. ] I'd appreciate it. What with how incapacitated I'm supposed to be.

[markofthewise]

Just try not to faint dramatically on the way back. If you do, I won't stop Katara from soaking you in healing water.

[herotypical]

[ and then buffy says something that's far more portentous than either of them could imagine: ] Trust me. My wet tshirt contestant days are over. Healing water or otherwise.

[ she makes to stand. ]

[markofthewise]

[For a moment, Sokka stares at her as that mental image runs its course in his head.]

... that's. Not exactly what I was thinking.

[Sokka leans in to the fire and deciding to be a little excessive, uses Eferine to extinguish the flame, rather than more conventional methods. Gathering up his pack, he finally stands too.]

[herotypical]

[ fancy. she stretches stiffly -- damn those bruised ribs -- and makes for the vessel. ]

Just a joke, Thunderaxe. Cool your jets. [ happily, she uses jack's name for the young man. ]

[markofthewise]

My jets are cool. Icy, even. [He's an engaged man. He won't go about fantasizing Buffy in some wet T-Shirt competition.] How about I go get the boat ready?

[Which is what he does, pushing it towards the water.]

[herotypical]

Do you have an extra, uhm...

[ she mimes a j-stroke. ] An extra thingie?

[ AN EXTRA OAR? ]

... a thingie for what?

[He has no clue what she means. Is this something weird? Does he need an adult?]

Uhm. A paddle. So I can help. With the paddling.

[It's not a paddle, it's-]

Oar. Yeah, I have two of them. Do you know how to use one?
