Sokka the 70th - [Action/Voice]

Okay, I just need everyone's attention for a minute. At least, those of you who, you know, like weapons.

I'm Sokka and I guess you could say I'm in charge of the weapon shop and smithy. I've been working with Leon Geeste, who is a kind of master alchemist guy, to make even better weapons. With his crests and my weapons, we can add a kind of magical element to them now. For instance, a sword can be given a fire element and that will make the blade burn and make it deadlier. Or a spear could be given an ice element that will freeze around the target a little. And, you know, other stuff. There's earth, air, and lightning elements too.

Anyway, these aren't always the easiest things to make, but... if it's a thing you want, we can do it. We've got stuff already made, but we can do something custom too. But just be practical, right? Sure, we might be able to figure out how to put crests into a hundred arrows. But we might also decide to, you know, have social lives too. These crests work best with a single weapon that you'll keep reusing. I can uh, explain it better, if you need me to.

[With that announcement out of the way, Sokka will hang out at the smithy until dinner time. He wants to be there and ready in case anyone wants these cool new unique weapons. Unless, of course, no one shows up. In which case he'll be at his work desk converting his alchemy notes into code, which is proving to be his least favorite thing to do ever. He kind of hates Ed now for telling him he had to do this. But it's what he has to do if he wants to prevent the secrets of meat alchemy from falling into the wrong hands. Who knows what people could do with that kind of power!

After closing up shop and doing his usual dinner at home, Sokka will be unusually taking a walk around the village in the evening. He's actually got a lot on his mind and without smithing or alchemy to occupy his thoughts, he's stuck on the Masaomi problem. He's half hoping that he'll run into the guy on the streets, but he's still not entirely sure how to approach the problem. Before the evening's over, he'll end up at Good Spirits, concerned and drowning his thoughts into a nice tall glass of... hot chocolate. Because that's what men do. Drink tall cups of hot chocolate with tiny marshmallows and whipped cream.]

[ Yuri just side-eyes him for a quick moment after that pun-- then moves right along. ]

The weapons I owned back in my world were two Beretta 92 pistols, hand grenades, a TDI KRISS Super V Vector, a Cheytac M200, and a CQB-R.

Other than that, I'm fine with knives. I can do two-handed with swords too, and.. I shot a bow and arrow once and nailed this guy in the forehead... but it's not like I actually owned that one. --The guy was already dead, so don't think I'm going to go around shooting people in the forehead, I need them for aim practice right now.

So if you see any of those let me know, okay?

Well... give me a minute, and I'll uh, go check to see if we have any of that stuff. If not, we've got some pretty nice crossbows.

[And he scoots off for a minute to go check their New Feather stuff.]

I can wait. I've never used a crossbow before but that might be okay.

[ That bow and arrow... ahaha, that may have very well been an accident anyway, she just played it off like she meant to do it.. ]

[And a few minutes later, he's packing heat. Or, you know, those guns she asked for.]

Looks like those Berettas showed up after all. But there's not a whole lot of ammo. So you'll probably want to, you know, be picky about how you practice with them.

Do you know if there's any way we can get ammo for them around here? Or at least molds to make my own?

Well, easiest way? Go on a mission for the Malnosso and ask for some. We can probably make some more, but I wouldn't exactly call it the funnest hobby.

Do you know how to make them or am I going to have to find someone with enough firepower to melt down metal myself? I'm not taking handouts from the Malnosso.

[But what about handouts from smiths who want to be able to go home and spend time with their girlfriends...]

Yeah, I can make them. [He sounds so enthused.]

[ That's totally fine and she'll thoroughly encourage everyone to bother him. ]

Great! Do you want something in exchange?

[Maybe he'll just go on a mission and ask for ammo. 8|]

Well, generally exchange is pretty good. If, you know... you have anything to exchange.

I can probably offer services of some kind and a promise not to screw with your shop should I decide that we all need a ton of weapons on short notice.

I've also got every intention of getting out of this place if you wanted that, and have a group of people forming to accomplish it.

[Wow... Sokka wonders if he was that optimistic when he first showed up in Luceti. (Except no, he's Sokka, so pessimism is his game.)]

... uh, that's a nice offer. You really are new here, aren't you?

I've been rebelling against impossible things long before I got here, I'd appreciate it if you didn't discount me because I just got here. I work fast and I'm not going to give up just because a bunch of dumbasses decided that they've been here long enough, it's time to give up already.

[ And she's smiling, even though she knows she just completely insulted him and pretty much half of the people she's talked to.

It's just the way she is. :'D She doesn't even sound like she's being mean when she says it. ]

[Yeah, he doesn't even so much as raise an eyebrow.]

So that makes you pretty much exactly like... ninety percent of everyone else here. Fast working, impossible causes, weapon mastery... you've saved the world at least once, right? That's kind of a requirement.

Haven't successfully saved anyone or anything yet, actually. I'm dead though. Rebelling against God. Present tense because I was in the middle of it when I got pulled here.

At any rate, I don't care how many super heroes or world savers are here. I've never had anything out of the ordinary except already being dead and an endless supply of weapons. Except apparently for this place, I'm one of the few people who actually isn't okay with sitting on my ass because everyone says it's impossible and that I'm just being naive because I haven't been here that long.

Trying to get out of here is fine. By all means, try. But don't just assume that the rest of us haven't tried. Or that we still aren't trying. This place is more complicated than that.

I know that a ton of people have tried. I know that no one's succeeded unless the Malnosso want them to and I know that there are some people who are still trying, like Tony, but a bunch of people seem to just look down on me because I'm new. Instead of "good luck" I'm getting "you must be knew" all the time which is getting kind of annoying, hence the snappiness. From the sounds of things, most people have either given up or refuse to work with others which could be a huge reason why no one has gotten out.

At any rate, I'm not giving up even if it takes a thousand years and I've definitely got time since I'm already dead and probably won't be aging.

[There's that dead thing again. Which is ironic, since dead people are usually the ones most adamant about staying...]

Well, you get more flies with honey. Generally? It's better not to assume people aren't trying. There's just a lot more to it than getting through the barrier. Or heck, just defeating the Malnosso.

Flies stink, I'd rather have people who can handle my personality. [ She knows she's a little... uh, abrasive sometimes. Or just downright rude, whatever. ]

Obviously I don't want to destroy this entire place. If someone wants to stay, they're perfectly fine doing that. They can still help me and any one else who wants to get out do it though.

Getting through the barrier is easy right? You just sign up for a mission. Then you have to deal with that mysterious unnamed third party that no one knows anything about outside of they want to kill us and the Malnosso want to kill them. So even if everyone got out, there'd still be the matter of dealing with them and the Malnosso at the same time. Then after that, we'd have to figure out how they pulled us out of our worlds in the first place to find a way back. Then we'd have to decide if we want to figure out how to take down the barrier and the Malnosso on top of that, which might be hard because despite that everyone talks about them, some people aren't even sure they really exist.

You've done your homework, but you're missing some things. The Malnosso say they're not the ones who brought us here. In fact, they're just as trapped as we are. After being out on a few drafts and missions, I even think they might be telling us the truth about that. But they do exist. I've seen them. I even had a chance to fight them once.

In other words, there's a ton of misinformation going around and no one has any way to prove any of it?

[ God. Damnit. You guys. Yuri just looks exasperated at that. ]

So what are they experimenting on people against our wills for if they're trapped and totally innocent?

Their story is that we're all 'special', apparently because we don't stay in this world for very long. All those experiments helps them find out ways to get everyone home. Somehow.

Then they should ask us for help instead of just doing things against our will. Otherwise they're going to get labeled as bad guys.

Well I never said they were great people or even decent. But you should at least know how things really are.

So far I've been told how things really are from different people in about fifty different ways so I'm thinking I might have to find out for myself.
