Appointments Post

This post is for threading with Sokka anytime and anywhere. It can be used for Action or the Ring feature on journals to get in contact with him for personal conversations.

[It's for a good cause?] Well... I don't know anyone else who can make metal things. [He looks a little embarrassed about that, yeah.] When everyone plants things, I'm going to ask them to write down really short messages. Can you carve them on to bits of metal? Like plaques?

[He thinks for a bit, then adds,] And we should make a sign. But that might be a bit earlier, so it's done before we start planting everything.

... couldn't they just paint them on a sign?

[He'd done engraving before. His own personal emblems on weapons. Other things like that. But a plaque? A plaque was new and it sounded very tedious for something he couldn't help but think was well... useless.]

Are you sure you wouldn't prefer a shovel or something?

But it'll smear if it rains. And I'm not really good at carving on wood. I thought you were good with metal things, but I guess if it's too hard...

[Oh, it is on.]

[...Pause.] ...Do you have a shovel? It'll make things a lot easier.

[He. Might get Winry to do it. Or maybe Hiccup. He could use the practice.]

Yeah, we have lots of shovels.

Oh... okay. Can I have one? [This pause isn't awkward at all!] And... will you make the things for the garden? You can even put 'made by Sokka' at the bottom, if you want.

Yeah, yeah. I'll get a shovel. [He starts going towards where they have a few shovels lying about to grab one.]

And I'll look into the plaque thing. Just... figure out what you want wrote on it.

Okay. The plaques and things won't be until we actually plant the garden, but the sign might be earlier. How long will it take to make one?

Well it depends on how much you want on it. I don't do signs, though.

Oh. [That makes things complicated.] Do you know anyone who does? We kind of need one.

[Well...] Talk to Charlotte. She really enjoyed making the signs we put around the village.

To Charlotte? [He's not sure he's ever spoken to her.] Okay. Where can I find her?

Just... around. Or at home. She's Adell's girlfriend. [And aren't you Blue Rogues, dude? For shame.]

[That doesn't mean he stalks her!]

Oh... I'll keep an eye out, then. [Futilely :| ]

[In the meantime, Sokka turns back around with a shovel.]

So how's this?

That's fine. [He inspects it briefly, then tucks it under one arm.] Do you have a whole lot of trowels, too? Little ones.

[And he should probably get some more arrows while he's here, come to think of it.]

Okay, see, now this is the part where I tell you the general store has a way better selection of non-weapons than the weapon shop.

But you're a smithy. And they make metal things. Like trowels!

[Hey, he can play the name game too.]

Well, sure. But why bother when there's perfectly good ones at the general store?

I didn't know the store had them, though. [Sigh. Complicated!] I'm gonna get some arrows, then I'll go, okay? Thanks for the shovel.

[Don't worry Link, one day Sokka will be nice to you. Maybe.]

Now those we have. How many are you looking for?

About a dozen, I guess. [He shrugs a little.] They kind of run out quickly if you practise with real targets, not Battle Dome targets.

[Well, Sokka will never be good at the bow, no matter how much he tries. So he's not going to comment on that. He just goes to collect a bundle, already tied up neatly, to offer him.]

Fortunately the Malnosso keep us pretty well supplied on these.

Thanks. I guess if they want us to fight, it makes sense for us to have lots of weapons, huh...

[Stupid Malnosso.]

Test subjects and soldiers. It's our lot in life. [He doesn't like it anymore than he does, but he talks about it more flippantly. It's a fact of life in Luceti.]

I guess so. At least the bakery's free!
