Oh, you know. I spent about a week fathering two girls I've kissed in the past. [And no, not like the kiss he had with Xion. Passionate kissing.] And I had a fake dad. But... doing better than other people, I guess.

[He's pretty thick skinned about these things. It will bother him for awhile after this, but he's going to... try and not make a big deal about it.]

[ ... winces in sympathy. that's ... terribly, terribly awkward. ] ... yikes. Sorry to hear that...

[ a beat. ] ... I feel a little better right now. [ vaguely. she knows she will feel worse, later. much worse. when she has to face those people. ] I'm all the way out at the mountains right now. It's helping me clear my head, a little.

... the mountains, really? You going to stay up there long?

[Bad things happen in mountains. Bad things like Aku happened to Zuko when he went on a post-event excursion to the mountains.]

Probably n-- oh. I should tell you... it turns out I do still have access to my darkness corridors here. I thought it was only on the battle fields, but ... guess that wasn't the case. [ a weak laugh. ] That's how I got out here. It won't take me long at all to come back, when I do.

Oh. Right, well that's good. [For a quick get away, especially.] Just uh, be careful up here. The mountains don't tend to attract the right kind of crowd, if you know what I mean.

It's just the word ... that one word. But considering the brooding she's been doing about her life today, that one word strikes a startling chord he of course hadn't meant to strike. It makes her pause for a strangely long moment. ]

Uh-- right. Don't worry. I'll be careful, I promise.

Good. And uh... good luck with everything. If you want to talk, I don't think we were related by much. I think I was your great uncle or second cousin or something like that. Either way... I'm pretty sure it doesn't change anything for us.

[ That's one of the nice things about him, though. He doesn't pin her on every little goddamn thing or read her like a book and reduce her to tears. It's just a relief, sometimes, to deal with his blunt honesty rather than the careful incisiveness she encounters otherwise.

It's why she smiles, a little. ]

Thanks, Sokka. That's actually ... I'm glad. That things haven't changed. It's nice... while everything else is in turmoil. [ .... eh heh. ] I'll talk to you later, okay?

[Yeah. It is nice to just have things say the same. Maybe he's lucky his small 'family' kept him so busy, that he didn't really spend a lot of time with his 'other' acquaintances.]
