I think we're better now because of it! I'm more comfortable, and thus able to be there one hundred percent for her when she needs me.

I think - Well Haruki was always afraid of being replaced or being a replacement. He wanted to be needed in his own right. Haruhi is pretty insecure too, so the kissing is just my way of reminding her she's not unwanted.
