Sokka the 68th - [Voice/Action]

[This morning, Sokka received a message through his journal. One he hadn't quite been expecting after everything that had happened last week. After pondering over it a bit, he inevitably was drawn to the journals to talk about it.]

You have to give the Malnosso credit. They drop a moon on the village and then they expect us to go show up to work for them like nothing ever happened. And it's... Farm Security. So I don't even get to do anything exciting. I get to a place I've already been, to make sure that 'our' food supplies don't get attacked. Yeah. That's great, "CJ". I'm really appreciating that. [He groans.] Well anyway, looks like I report at nine in the morning tomorrow. Apparently I'll be gone for five days. I'll take my journal, but apparently it won't work while I'm there. Guess I'll find out.

... so, I'm not the only one who signed up, right?

Oh. And Hiccup... keep an eye on the smithy. [Normally he'd ask Winry to do that. But things are a little... different with them lately. So he's not exactly jumping at the chance to go and have a public conversation with her. Or private, really.

For anybody who wants to run into him, Sokka will be doing his normal stuff at the smithy. He's making some preparations for needing to fight, since at this point he has only the Malnosso's word that this is less dangerous than a draft. Even though it's starting to get too cold for it, he'll eat his lunch out in the plaza like he always does. Other than that, he'll be spending his day as normally as he can. Come home for a normal dinner, tell some bad jokes to his housemates, and spend some time with his gal. In the morning, he'll head out.]

Usually saying 'it's not a big deal' means that it was a big deal, you just don't like to bring it up.

Well it's in the past, you know? I can't exactly just dwell on being the unpopular kid forever.

... I think I can sort of relate to that. Kind of. [Though not in the same sense. What with the whole tiny village thing.] But hey, if you don't want to talk about it, then it won't be talked about. I'm not exactly what you'd call a 'listening to people's problems' kind of person anyway.

[It just happens anyway.]

Yeah, I noticed. But it's weird because you seem to have decentish advice no matter what.

It must be a curse or something.

You don't want to be the one people listen to?

It's not that it's bad bad. But who gets blamed if the advice doesn't work? Me. And besides, I just make it up as I go.

Sounds like Minato. Sometimes people don't really want the advice anyway; they just need someone to listen.

Yeah I guess- oh. [A.... ha....]

Look, if you um, want to talk about what happened with the whole unpopular thing, I'm listening. Really. I don't mind as much as I was saying.

No you know, it's really okay. I've talked it to death with Neku and Haruhi and I've already accepted that I was jealous of the popular kids and now I'm pretty over it. Besides, I'm not going to bore you with how my life was before I died. It's not as interesting as my life now.

Well. That's fair. I mean... my life wasn't exactly action packed before I met Aang either.

You were just in your water tribe, right? Was it that dull?

Well if you headed south, there was ice. If you headed east, also ice. Out west there was, well, ice. And then to the north was ocean. Which was full of icebergs.

...at least you had plenty of places to go ice skating and ice fishing. I think that'd drive me crazy though. I can't even picture it.

Well. That was my life. I didn't really mind it.

But you have to go back to it now, right? Isn't that going to be weird after everything that's happened?

Well. Probably not, given the whole, you know, not remembering it. And if I did remember it, the suddenly being fifteen again would be even weirder. [Not to mention being so scrawny again!]

...I don't mean the stuff that's happened here, Sokka. I mean post-adventures in babysitting the Avatar.

Oh! Um, actually, I think I'll be pretty much okay with it. It's what I grew up with. Now that everyone is back from the war, it'll be a lot better. [And a shrug.] Besides, I'm sure I'll probably be making lots of trips to different places. [Like... Kyoshi Island.]

Then...I'm glad to hear that. I just don't want it to be anticlimactic for you.

What about you? I mean. Going back to your old life after, well... you know. Isn't that going to be kind of weird?

...sort of but not really? We were back for a little bit of time before I was brought here. Being in my real body again and being okay with it was a new change, and having new friends was a change, too, but they weren't bad things. I think it's going to be more like having a better appreciation for my life.

Trying to explain to people why I came back after dying though is going to be a little hard though, I can almost guarantee it.

Yeah, no kidding. People might find it kind of freaky.

Totally not looking forward to it, but at least I know I have three friends that have gone through the same thing. Makes me feel less like a freak, you know what I mean? And then of course here it's like it's not even a big deal. It's just. Different.

Sometimes I feel left out just by the fact I haven't died. [... that is probably one of his worst sarcastic comments ever.]
