[This morning, Sokka received a message through his journal. One he hadn't quite been expecting after everything that had happened last week. After pondering over it a bit, he inevitably was drawn to the journals to talk about it.]

You have to give the Malnosso credit. They drop a moon on the village and then they expect us to go show up to work for them like nothing ever happened. And it's... Farm Security. So I don't even get to do anything exciting. I get to a place I've already been, to make sure that 'our' food supplies don't get attacked. Yeah. That's great, "CJ". I'm really appreciating that. [He groans.] Well anyway, looks like I report at nine in the morning tomorrow. Apparently I'll be gone for five days. I'll take my journal, but apparently it won't work while I'm there. Guess I'll find out.

... so, I'm not the only one who signed up, right?

Oh. And Hiccup... keep an eye on the smithy. [Normally he'd ask Winry to do that. But things are a little... different with them lately. So he's not exactly jumping at the chance to go and have a public conversation with her. Or private, really.

For anybody who wants to run into him, Sokka will be doing his normal stuff at the smithy. He's making some preparations for needing to fight, since at this point he has only the Malnosso's word that this is less dangerous than a draft. Even though it's starting to get too cold for it, he'll eat his lunch out in the plaza like he always does. Other than that, he'll be spending his day as normally as he can. Come home for a normal dinner, tell some bad jokes to his housemates, and spend some time with his gal. In the morning, he'll head out.]

And she'll just go back to cooking like she isn't still worried and angry now.

Except she totally is.]

[Well. He sits himself on down then, considering his journal and looking at the message he got.]

So. I should figure out my reward. Maybe I could ask for a female Hawky.

You do, and I think Suki will leave you.

Maybe a girl would make Hawky nicer. [Katara always said a girl would make Sokka nicer.]

[And that theory has worked out SO WELL.]

It would probably just make him more moody.

Okay. So maybe a female Momo, then.

[From his place on the couch, the lemur suddenly perks up at hearing his name.]

Only if you want to clean up the mess of all those baby lemurs.

[...]

Actually, I was hoping we could both work towards one of those stickers. I want to give one to Toph.

They won't let us share points, you know. [But actually yes, that's more or less what he was thinking too. He was just kidding about the other part.]

... I was going to save up for one anyway, though. But I don't think Toph would accept it.

They should. [She frowns.] And she will. Although we might have to give it to Yue first, if she puts up too much of a fight.

[Toph might be the youngest, but at least she's a fighter. But... Katara hates, hates, hates the thought of Toph literally blind in the Malnosso's hands. And there's the fact that her first real Mallynapping was when she was faced with Toph's disappearance. She just - hates watching it happen again.]

[Toph was the first kidnapping that really hit Sokka. He'd heard of them. He'd seen people come back from them. But when it was Toph, that had been personal. And those first few times stung. It had become almost second nature to just not think about it. Not imagine what might be happening. And actually be grateful if nothing of it was remembered. It really was some life in Luceti.]

We should get as many as we can. That way we don't need to choose.

Yeah. I just think they should get them first.

No arguments here. But you get to be the one to talk Toph into accepting it. Try to have fun with that.

[Because if there's one thing Toph doesn't like, it's having people try to look after her.]

[Toph can suck it up.]

I'll figure something out.

Maybe try to find some place without a lot of rocks around. Or at least where there's plenty of water.

[Eyeroll] It's not going to come to that.

It'll be fine.

If you say so. [Shrug and he dangles an arm over his chair.]

If I keep going on these missions, I'll probably give some to other people. Like... Winry and Fenimore. [Because if they can avoid drafts this way, then it's worth it to him.]

[Tired, strained smile.]

I guess that's better than asking for another bathroom.

[She wants her own, OK? Two is better than one, but cleaning up after boys is gross.]

Another one? Two is plenty! Besides, I think you're forgetting what kind of 'bathrooms' we had back home. [Tsk tsk, Katara. You've let Luceti spoil you!]

A frozen hole in the ground? Believe me, I haven't forgotten.

Exactly! And now you want a third bathroom. Maybe we should ask them to get you a fluffier bed too.

I don't want just a bathroom, I want a tub, and I want it in my room. [A quick grin.] And really? You think they would? Because a fluffier bed wouldn't be all that bad either...

[Rolling his eyes. But it's good natured sibling teasing.]

Why settle for that? Just go for a water bed and hot tub. I'm sure you can find room for it in your room somewhere.

Why would I want a waterbed? I'd never be able to sleep. [She'd be feeling it constantly, and that would be distracting.] Besides, there's plenty of space in that room for a bathroom. It's not like I need a closet.

[He figured she'd enjoy it. Kind of like how Toph likes to sleep in dirt. Oh well. Benders will be benders.]

Wow. You're actually serious about it. [He just thought it was a ridiculous idle fancy.]

[A tub all her own where no one would call her to rush out and she could just soak and everyone would have to leave her alone? You bet she's serious.

But she sobers a little.]

It's not that important. It's not like I should be planning to stay here anyway.
