markofthewise | 65th: The Swapping of Sokka Thunderaxe

[And now Sokka was a girl. Worse than that, he was Haruhi Suzumiya. After an enlightening conversation with that Malnosso girl, he and the real Haruhi had come to the unhappy conclusion it was better not to tell anyone what happened. Which Sokka hated the idea of, but the potential consequences of not doing it could be worse. Besides, if Haruhi could figure out how to fix all of this, he'd be back in his own body by tomorrow! Or a few days, anyway.

This, unfortunately, means having to live like Haruhi. And dress like her too. Girly top, a dress, and that stupid ribbon in his hair. As much as he wanted to just tie it all behind his head in a ponytail, she wouldn't let him do that. Can't blow their cover, after all. And then he has to follow Haruhi's schedule for things.

He leaves the house undetected that morning, eating breakfast on the go. This leaves him to try and do things that Haruhi would do. Which he is not at all thrilled about. Since he doesn't want to run into people, he ends up hitting the library to read about things that would help him be Haruhi. Like things about Japan. He'd never cared about Japan, but it seemed like he ought to know things on it by now.

After lunch (which he spends tucked away privately in the back of one of the restaurants), he swallows his anxiety and goes to visit Winry. But then he decides to look in on Shiki first at All Passions, like instructed. After that he'll warily enter the smithy, feeling oddly out of place there, to visit Winry. When these 'appointments' are finished, he'll arrive at the Brigade building. Early. Twiddling his thumbs until people arrive. Fortunately he wrote down a cheat sheet for who everyone actually is.

After the meeting (which is probably short), he'll be left with nothing to do for a few hours. That's when he opts to just hit the barracks and try to train. He'll be incredibly frustrated at the fact he seems to have lost his skill at just about everything. While he's not horrible, he's nowhere near his "A Game".

In the evening he faces the second worst part of the day - cooking. Being only skilled at cooking meat, he'll try his darndest to make a decent meal. It will be edible Shiki and Beat, don't worry. It will just be incredibly bland and very heavy on the meat. Sort of a boring exercise in chewing, really. Given that Katara has drilled family dinners into him, he'll be at the table expecting a group dinner.

Later in the evening he'll spend some time on the roof, grumbling about his fate, and working secretly on carving a piece of wood into a new boomerang. Day one was a nightmare. He doesn't think he's going to last another one.]

MORE IMPORTANTLY this is a body swap plot! It involves some of Haruhi's reality bending powers, so it's not an experiment/Mallynapping thing. As explained here, this means that Sokka and Haruhi's friends shouldn't notice things being that odd. If they do, it's something they'd quickly dismiss. I hope you guys will play along!))

[Except now they're in the bathroom and Sokka realizes he has to strip and not make it seem as weird as it actually is. Good thing his back is to Shiki right now.]

[She's just going to settle on the closed toilet seat, waiting for Haruhi to get into her bath. Seriously, stop stalling. It's not like they don't have the same parts, you know.]

[Okay. Deep breath. First he turns on the water to get it running warm, then Sokka just starts stripping down, trying to ignore the girly parts attached to this body. This is incredibly difficult, but not impossible.]

[She's just going to hang onto Mr. Mew and watch the bathtub fill up.] ...it's probably a good thing the boys aren't around. They might think this is really weird.

Probably. [He can't imagine why! Finally he crawls into the tub, realizing that this is possibly the most ridiculous experience of his life.] But that just... shows what they knows. Girls do this kind of thing all the time. [... apparently.]

Kind of. I guess it doesn't matter though, I've gotten used to it.

...how was the meeting today anyway? You never said.

[Yup. Just sitting in this tub, feeling like the whole world is watching him, and not daring to reach for the soap.]

Fine? It was fine. Just... you know, brigade stuff. We might have a party soon. How was your day?

[She's mostly just staring straight ahead so it's all in your head Sokka :|] You know, just...normal. I did some more work moving things around after you left but other than that everything was slow. Tell me more about this party.

[Okay talking, yeah. He doesn't have to bathe. Just let the water fill up and be awkward forever.] Well, it's a fall thing. The equinox, right? So the party will be then. We'll have food. Fireworks. Typical party things.

[As long as there's no flooding.] Sounds pretty tame, but there's not much you can do I guess for the equinox. I might actually show up.

Well, you know, just conserving our efforts for something... bigger later. [Or something. Parties are parties, right? Who cares about the theme.]

...do you ever get bored with it though?

[Bored? Today? Sokka hasn't had a chance.]

Good. I'd be a little worried if you did. Maybe you should just be a party planner when we get back home.

...so hey, I should probably tell you something.

[Oh thank goodness, no more Brigade talk.]

Yeah? [Well the water is done running, so turning it off.]

...I know you aren't going to like this, but I'm trying to take up swordsmanship again. But don't get mad.

[... wait, Haruhi doesn't know about that? He stares at her for a moment, gaping for a moment. How should he even react? Apparently Haruhi would be mad.]

Really? [Um. Personally he thinks it's a good idea, but...] Are you sure that's a good idea?

[Haruhi knows; it's more that Haruhi's not sure it's a good idea for her.] It'll give me something to do and I mean...well you know. Mr. Mew can't protect me forever. He's a great weapon but you know my powers are faulty here. I want a backup. But don't worry about it, I talked to Sokka today. He picked out a good sword for me to use.

[Hearing himself being talked about doing stuff he didn't do is weird. He also needs to ask Haruhi about this Mr. Mew thing. He knew that thing was weird!] Oh. He did, huh? So... what kind was it? [He might need to go make sure it actually IS a good one.]

[A shrug.] I'm not really sure, it's just an upgrade from the lighter short-sword I was using. You'd have to ask Sokka the name of it. I just said something to deal more damage and he gave me that.

[Oh, he will ask. Lots of asking will be had.] Well it's not a horrible idea. You never know when you'll need it.

...yeah exactly. [And it's then she finally looks over to her friend.] Wow you're. Taking this a lot better than I thought. That's great.

[Yes, her friend, who is awkwardly looking away as he soaps up 'his' breasts while blushing.]

Um. Yeah. Well, I was on that draft a few months ago. [That seems like a valid enough excuse.]

True. I guess I should be happy they haven't called me out there yet. It gives me enough time to prepare...I don't think a flying cat would really protect me from people like the Third Party.

No. Flying cats probably wouldn't help much. [What is this Mr. Mew....]
