{So Sokka is in a dilemma. Here he is, his usual lunch spot sitting on the stony edge of the fountain, eating his sandwich, when it occurs to him that he's had a ham-and-turkey--and-roast-beef-with-cheese-and-jalapeno sandwich for three week consecutively. And that's only because three weeks ago Hawky flew away with his sandwich before he could eat it. As he realizes he has little to no desire to finish this half eaten sandwich, he realizes his life needs a CHANGE. Something different. Exciting. A way to make his mundane existence in Luceti worthwhile again. Naturally he turns to the journals.]

Okay, so, I'm sick of eating the same old stuff for lunch. Sandwiches are great, really, but I've been eating them for a year now. I think I need more variety in my lunches. Any ideas? It can't be... complicated or anything. Believe it or not, cooking is not exactly my thing. So, anyone got any ideas that don't include visiting Seventh Heaven every day? Or the other restaurants, either. No offense to them, but... I dunno. No offense, either way.

{Unless it's for something special, Sokka just doesn't buy into making people work for him without recompensation.

He chews on his sandwich a bit more, then decides to add:]

Anybody like fishing? I mean... maybe not so much the net fishing. Just line fishing. Or spear fishing, I'm good with that too. It's actually been awhile since I caught my own dinner, now that I think about it.

It's neat, definitely. And while it is technically fitting given my background, I'm not convinced it's all that practical for a sword.

[He considers the sword a bit... hmmm.]

A club or hammer, maybe. One hit to freeze something, a second one to shatter it.

Yeah, something where there's a lot of potential impact. Or maybe a weapon built for piercing? [There weren't really many who messed with water-crest metalcraft, so he doesn't have that much experience there.]

But you can see what I was getting at. There's a lot of ways to improve weapons around here.

[A good point. A spear would work just as well.]

You're right. This could be really big. It's more work, but definitely worth it.

We'll have to keep working on it. And ... if we do seriously progress with this, I'll have to ask the Malnosso about an item that will let me create stronger gems.

Stronger gems? How much stronger?

[Sokka wants the strongest he can get.]

Well, there's the rainbow diamond, which I know generates a more potent lightning crest than a diamond. There's also rune metal, which ... worked a lot better with armor durability than weapon customizing. [He makes a face at that; he'd worked with it a few times, with disappointing results.]

I'd like to see you make a sword out of one of the stronger gems and ores, like moonite or mithril, before attempting anything with your own meteorite.

These all sound exactly like the kind of metals I've never heard of, not even in books.

[Still... the meteorite he wants to make good use of.]

But if you think Boss Blue will help, it sounds like a plan.

Most of them came from a different planet from my own, so I hear you there. We can work on some other weapons in the mean time, too.

Well, I picked the last one, what do you want to try next?

I don't have a lot of gems that have a chance of imbuing elements right now, but... I have rubies and a star ruby, which might give a weapon some fire properties. Nothing like a blazing sword, but it should leave burns.

[He considers the freezing sword again. It'll probably need a cool name.]

Maybe we should try again when you've got more then.

Yeah. I'd like to wait until I can possibly get a rainbow diamond before attempting any weapons with lightning properties. Better chances and all. [He gives the dummy another look.] I'll come by again once I've accumulated better gems.
