Sokka the 62nd - [Voice/Action]

{So Sokka is in a dilemma. Here he is, his usual lunch spot sitting on the stony edge of the fountain, eating his sandwich, when it occurs to him that he's had a ham-and-turkey--and-roast-beef-with-cheese-and-jalapeno sandwich for three week consecutively. And that's only because three weeks ago Hawky flew away with his sandwich before he could eat it. As he realizes he has little to no desire to finish this half eaten sandwich, he realizes his life needs a CHANGE. Something different. Exciting. A way to make his mundane existence in Luceti worthwhile again. Naturally he turns to the journals.]

Okay, so, I'm sick of eating the same old stuff for lunch. Sandwiches are great, really, but I've been eating them for a year now. I think I need more variety in my lunches. Any ideas? It can't be... complicated or anything. Believe it or not, cooking is not exactly my thing. So, anyone got any ideas that don't include visiting Seventh Heaven every day? Or the other restaurants, either. No offense to them, but... I dunno. No offense, either way.

{Unless it's for something special, Sokka just doesn't buy into making people work for him without recompensation.

He chews on his sandwich a bit more, then decides to add:]

Anybody like fishing? I mean... maybe not so much the net fishing. Just line fishing. Or spear fishing, I'm good with that too. It's actually been awhile since I caught my own dinner, now that I think about it.

[For you action folks, catch Sokka at his usual haunts. The smithy, around House 56, around the plaza, or beside the barracks, working on the lumber Moro provided into usable material for his boat. LOUD POWER TOOL SOUNDS, RAR HAR HAR.]

I don't overcompensate like Shirley always does. ...But I guess I'm not in any position to complain about it. [Since she managed to benefit from taking any extra baked goods when Shirley expressed her gratitude like that.]

[He belatedly realizes he almost got into the matter of that locket. Fortunately Fenimore didn't make the connection.]

That's- well, right. Make how much you want. If there's too much, I do live with five other people. It won't last long.

[She assumed he had just observed it, rather than being thanked directly by baked goods.

There's a pause as her mouth moves in silent counting. Suki, Toph, his sister...that guy whose bed she stole...one other, then. But she doesn't bother to ask.] I get the feeling that it wouldn't last long even if it was just for you.... Well, it'll be much easier when I can work with a wood stove again, so that won't be a problem.

Well, at least you got all the wood you needed after that um, trip with Moro we took. [Which was kind of weird, but you know.]

[Voice]

[That trip. Yeah. That was pretty weird.] It will last me for a while, at least. And I was able to find some more when...did you see that Moro actually brought wood out to the edge of the village?

Oh yeah, I ran into her. I dragged a ton of it back home. It will be quite handy for my boat.

Well, that's one less hassle for that. How is coming along, anyway? [⇠has no idea how long it takes to build things]

A lot of the wood is ready, now it's just a matter of assembly.

[And transport. This is where he really needs people to help.]

So, not much more left. That's good. You'll probably want to get it done before the end of the summer, right?

That's the working idea. Hopefully we'll be done by July. [Pushing it maybe... but possible.]

Good. There will still be plenty of warm days left after that, even with -- distractions. [Since her main priority if she ever goes on the boat would be trying swimming from over the side, like he suggested. Even if she is still undecided about how incautious she will allow herself to be about the whole breathing underwater thing.]

... well, yeah. But distractions are kind of a fact of life here. [Experiments, drafts, kidnappings, someone deciding to kill everyone else. Life in Luceti. Peaceful like.]

I know that. But they can't take up the entire summer. Even if -- [Last summer was pretty busy! She shakes her head. No need to jinx this one.] There's nothing we can do about that, though.

[Voice]

Well, yeah. And besides, life is a lot less distracting on the open seas. I mean, unless there's... sea monsters, or something. Always a possibility. Maybe I should put a harpoon launcher on there...

[Harpoon launchers. Terribly useful things. Also great for large meals.]

I hope not. I prefer it when Luceti keeps to having only a few dangerous animals. [They have BEARS but they are less aggressive than Egg Bears.] But I guess it's better to be safe than sorry.

Well, sea monsters have a lot of meat on them. [This is important... probably.]

[Voice]

...You want to eat a sea monster.

[Voice]

Well it's not exactly a life long ambition, but no sense wasting any sea monsters we might be forced to slay.

I think you're being a little too practical right now.

What can I say? It's who I am. We never waste stuff in the South Pole. Mostly because it's not really an option, but I can also claim it as a cultural thing, too.

Are they even edible? [Probably, since they're meat, but still.]

I don't know. I don't actually go around slaying sea monsters that often... or at all.

I guess if you run into one, you'll find out. But I'm going to hope that there aren't any out there. I mean, it isn't even a real ocean.

It's... mostly real? Kind of.
