[When Sokka opens the journal, he does it with a very specific purpose and yeah, maybe it's New Feather season and the aftermath of some dumb experiment, but he has some news that he's been sitting on for awhile. News that only two or three people outside of the Avatar house are even aware of. So today, around lunch period at school, Sokka heads around the building, facing the playground, to make an announcement he'd been putting off for a bit. Not because he didn't want to make it, but it was hard to do it with people being all ragey with the Malnosso. Maybe a few days of New Feathers will have cooled them off?]

Hey everyone. So... this is actually a few weeks late, but uh, that experiment kind of got in the way and New Feathers showing up and... anyway. Forget all that.

If you guys happen to see Suki around town, say hi to her for me. After all, she's the future Missus Thunderaxe. [He allows that to sink in a bit.] Because, you know, we're engaged now. Just saying. Nice pretty necklace and everything. One of my best works, if I do say so myself.

[Yeah, yeah. He's feeling good about that, okay. Like, solid. Whatever that means. Anyway, he decided that tonight he is making dinner. That means he's going to the grocery and stocking up on steaks. He wants to make steak burgers, because he's heard about them (somewhere) and they sounded awesome. From Luceti he had decided he liked steak and he liked hamburgers, so a combination? Gotta be a winner. Nevermind that he's just getting regular old steaks and plans to just put those on a hamburger bun. He'll realize the bones are gonna be a problem later on.

He'll make his customary appearance at the smithy to help New Feathers with weapons. He'll also be around school during the appropriate times for that. In the evening, after his dinner fiasco, he'll be down by the river, on the southern end of town, making some modifications to see if he can't make it sea worthy. Like adding a sail. He's pretty unsatisfied with the results though. Looks like he may need to just make a new boat from scratch. Which necessitates another voice post in the evening. But only after excluding a certain pirate. No offense, Jack, but he wants his own boat.]

So... ship building. Anyone want to help make one? A big one. Not huge, just... sea worthy with a nice strong sail. And good for bringing in lots of fish, too. Any help would be good. Just materials would go a long way.

It's not a date! We're engaged and she's... got her thing with Haruhi. [He almost brings up that it wouldn't be any different than going swimming with Aang or Zuko. But.... yeah, even he knows it's different.]

[Yeah, it really is.] And her girlfriend is okay with this too?

... I guess so? [Hmm, since Haruhi and Winry are girlfriends, does that mean Haruhi would only care if Winry went with another girl?]

[...Man, and now if she keeps hounding him about it, she's the villain in the story. How unfair is that?]

Sokka, it's... it's not like I don't trust you and Winry, I just...

[Look, it's weird, okay? It's weird.]

I know, I know... it's weird. But nothing will happen. Just a few hours and that's it.

[He hates to force it on her, but Winry is his best friend. So he's torn.]

...Yeah. [She's quiet for a long moment, mulling over this, then reaches out to take his hand, trying desperately not to look so uncertain. She trusts him, she really trusts him. It's not fair to do this, but... but...] ...You promise?

[He takes her other hand in his and nods with certainty. He's messed this up before. It may not have been Sokka in his right mind, but he never wants to be in that place again. Ever. So he's confident when he nods in turn.]

I promise.

[She remains that way for him for a bit, then nods again, withdrawing her hands to reach around and hug him instead. It means a lot to her, that he just promised without getting upset. It's a good sign, after all- it means they can understand each other, even with stuff like this.

That's how people who are married - or getting married - should be.]

[Hugging is good. He's both surprised and happy she's able to trust him like this. Because... Sokka is not nearly so trusting a person. And while it often works out for him, it's not alway a good thing. But during that embrace, he ends up grinning just a bit.]

... besides, our beach trip is going to be way better.

[Clearly she'll have to find herself a man to cart off for some secret meetings so he can get jealous.]

Better than the one we had during the winter? That one was so romantic, after all.

[And by romantic she means totally not. It was mostly just cold.]

[So cruel, Suki. SO CRUEL. Of course he'd just follow and watch all sneaky like. And fail at being stealthy.]

Hey, that was just exploration. This would actually be fun. And, you know, romantic too.

[He'd get harassed about that later. He may be a good fighter now but she can still kick his ass at being stealthy. Mwaha.]

Well, whatever it is, I'm looking forward to it. So don't have all the fun with Winry, okay?

[That might have a double meaning, but- ...well, no. She trusts him.

...Just don't.]

I won't enjoy a moment of it.

[Well, maybe a little, but it will be against his will for certain.]

[To know he will enjoy it - which she wants and expects - but no nonsense will happen. Which he promised.

Always nice to know he understands.]

Well, since that's all settled and we have all these tasty treats... how about we go take them somewhere no one will find them.

[Her room? Maybe his? He does have that big giant bed still.]

I have a good idea of where to go. [Hand: take. And she's pulling him along towards his room. That is a nice big bed, actually. He should totally keep it.]

[Sokka will just lead Suki to his room, knowing full well what's waiting for him. He shuts the door behind them. About ten seconds later, the door opens and a confused lemur is deposited outside, before the door is shut again.
