Sokka the 60th - [Action/Voice]

[Today? Sokka is at the smithy. Honestly, are we really surprised by this? Seriously, this is kind of his thing. He is waiting for Winry, though. He wants her input on a project.]

It's been two weeks since the equinox. And we're finally getting a break from all the rain. Funny how the new season just kind of Springs up on you like that, am I right?

[Oh Sokka, you are hi-lar-ious. He wipes a tear from his eye even, pleased that he managed to let such a well-seasoned joke be released into the wild. Oh, speaking of wild.]

No but seriously, now that it's getting that time of year, how many people out here hunt and fish? I know, I know. Boo hoo, the talking animals. I've heard it. But is there anyone here besides me who still does that kind of thing?

[Also, lately Sokka is keeping a new little trinket in one of his pockets. It's something he intends to give to someone at the right time. After the small blunder of forgetting to bring it on Suki's birthday, he's keeping it all the time on him now. So even as he's walking away from home, he'll often put his hand in his pocket to make sure it's still there. He probably won't show it to just anyone, though.]

You're right again. It was pretty annoying. [Why bother defending him to himself? And she glances up at him from where she was perusing the shelves.]

But let's get some steaks, too. About seven or eight of them should do for a meal.

Seven or eight for one meal? How many are you planning on having? It's important to eat more than just meat, you know.

I'm only going to have two! Zuko is Fire Nation, they happen to love their meat, so I know he'll have two. And let's face it, Toph is a growing girl. She'll be able to down two as well.

[Which leaves one each for Suki and Katara!]

I don't know what size steak you're thinking of. [But that's not a no.]

We can pick some up.

The big kind, obviously. [Why get any other kind? Honestly.]

[It is so obvious to her that you don't cook right now.

She shakes her head.]

Let's go pick some out.

[HE DOES SO COOK. Just not often. And not well. And usually over an open fire.

Once near said steaks...] Hmm... ribeyes. Or maybe t-bone? Although sirloin is good too... [Ugh, choices. He hates and loves these.]

[...this is why she can't go food shopping with you. Katara just starts pulling a selection of different types of steak out and putting them in the bag. It's not like she's going to cook them all at once anyway, no matter what Sokka thinks.]

I'm surprised you haven't figured out a favorite.

How can I pick one favorite? They're all delicious!

[He'll casually throw a few extra into a bag too. Katara never gets enough of this stuff.]

[There's plenty if you cook it right the first time instead of needing to go through two or three.

And shrug.]

For just plain steak, I like rib-eye best. But you can really use just about anything for stir fry.

... well if you want to put it in stir fry, I guess. [Stir fry with steak is great. But just steak by itself is awesome.]

[Anyway, moving on over to the diary isle...]

It seems like Zuko and Toph are settling in okay.

[...and Jet. But let's not talk about Jet.]

Yeah, I guess. At least their first experiment wasn't too bad. [Having your body altered is more preferable to having your mind altered. You're still the same person that way.]

Yeah, this one was kind of fun. Although it's good to get back to normal.

[She missed bending.]

Toph kind of got it bad, though. I mean... giant snake made out of rocks.

Yeah... [Her hand pauses, falters really, on the milk] it's funny, we'd just been talking about how awesome she thought being made out of rock would be. And I think she started enjoying it once she got used to it.

[It's still not right.]

[... man, he went and got her all introspective now. Tch.]

That's what you call ironic. [Unless they planned it that way.] Just goes to show, be careful what you wish for.

[A wry look.] Or else you might end up with ugly gray skin and freaky hair?

... I never wished for that. Besides, the hair wasn't that bad.

[Stowing the milk away and heading up the aisle for more rice.]

... I guess flying is cool. [He was kind of jealous Katara and Winry got to fly. He hasn't ever got to do that yet.]
