Sokka the 59th - [Action/Written]

[Today a not-so-unfamiliar face returns to Luceti. He is by no means happy about being here, stuck as he in a pair of New Feather pants. His old stuff? Doesn't quite fit. After all, it was clothes for a seventeen year old, not a nine year old. Maybe this 'little kid' would be happier about this if not for the fact he wasn't a mere four foot six just a week ago. He wears the indignant face of someone not at all content about being so short. He is not a happy little kid.

After waking up behind one of the stores, he goes to the clothing store first to put something on, going to the oft-neglected kid's section of the store. As it turns out, there's not many little boys in Luceti. At least not his current age. Refusing to wear girl clothing, he opts for an oversized tunic and pair of shorts that he secures with a belt. It looks even more ridiculous than the alternative. After that, he'll be on his way to House 56. After letting his housemates know he is home (and finding out about a new arrival), he decides that a mallynapping isn't going to stop him, so he heads to the smithy later to try and get work done. He may drop in on school for at least one class today, because he's trying his best to pretend this is all normal.

At some point in the day he leaves a written message, cautious to keep away from the view screen.]

Sokka here. I'm back from another kidnapping. So if you need anything at the smithy or anything, let me know. I'll get it done.

[He shifts uncomfortably at being such a focal point of her attention.]

[She glances back at the school.]

So...you said I should ask Professors Raine and Gelda about going to school?

[Oh, much better.]

Yeah, easy. We can do it now, if you want.

[A nod.]

Come on, this way. [And he's just going to lead her inside where hopefully Raine is still around.]

[And she'll still be in her office, taking the time to go over some paperwork at her desk.]

[There's a knock on the door. If the door's closed, he'll go ahead and push it open. Otherwise he's stepping inside.]

Hey professor. You busy? I got someone for you to meet.

[She's just going to be hovering unobtrusively behind Sokka, even if he's...smaller than she is]

I always have time for my students, Sokka. [She lifts her head at his words though.]

Oh, good. Well, actually, she isn't even a student. Yet. [Glancing to his left and his right he doesn't see Ranka... until he cranes his head back to see her hiding behind him. He takes an abrupt step to the right.]

This is Ranka Lee. She's new.

[Oh, what an elegant-looking lady. She - doesn't flail when Sokka sidesteps, but it's still in something of a flustered way that she takes a step forward]

It's nice to meet you.

[When in doubt, stick to politeness]

Is that so? It's nice to meet you Ranka. [She'll rise to greet her properly as well, though will allow the girl to bridge the gap. She smiles gently.] My name is Raine Sage.

[Sokka feels like he ought to say something, but suddenly he feels very much like a little kid and ends up falling silent. He vaguely feels as though the 'adults' are talking above him and he should shut up and let them speak.]

[She nods. It feels awkward - more awkward - to be talking from almost outside the room, so she closes the distance to Raine a bit more.]

One of the people in charge of the school, right?

[As if she hasn't been told already. But it never hurt to check, and it's something to say, at least.]

Yes, that's correct. Most of the classes are divided between Professor Gelda and myself, though there are others here to assist in courses as well. [And some have their specific courses, like Mr. Chopin and music, and Mr. Scott and his physics.]

[She glances toward Sokka.] It's good that you came back. I do have the work ready for you.

[He had kind of distracted himself with the cracks in the floor when Raine starts speaking to him.]

Huh? Oh. Right. Thanks.

Then, would it be possible for me to start coming to school? I know I must be behind in some things, but I'll try to catch up and not be a bother!

You're welcome. [She'll move to her desk to look for those papers for him, but smiles at Ranka.] Of course it's possible. We only ask that new students take a placement exam so that I can schedule your classes appropriately.

[A glance to Ranka.]

You'll be fine! {And then to Raine:] She's from space. [Humanity doesn't get into space without being smart.]

[Aaahaha, this is transferring into Mihoshi all over again.]

A placement exam, okay!

[And she's about to comment on that but - jksdlfj Sokka. She laughs awkwardly instead.]

I haven't met anyone from there yet, but I hope you'll speak more about it in class. You're welcome to take the test whenever you like.
