Sokka the 59th - [Action/Written]

[Today a not-so-unfamiliar face returns to Luceti. He is by no means happy about being here, stuck as he in a pair of New Feather pants. His old stuff? Doesn't quite fit. After all, it was clothes for a seventeen year old, not a nine year old. Maybe this 'little kid' would be happier about this if not for the fact he wasn't a mere four foot six just a week ago. He wears the indignant face of someone not at all content about being so short. He is not a happy little kid.

After waking up behind one of the stores, he goes to the clothing store first to put something on, going to the oft-neglected kid's section of the store. As it turns out, there's not many little boys in Luceti. At least not his current age. Refusing to wear girl clothing, he opts for an oversized tunic and pair of shorts that he secures with a belt. It looks even more ridiculous than the alternative. After that, he'll be on his way to House 56. After letting his housemates know he is home (and finding out about a new arrival), he decides that a mallynapping isn't going to stop him, so he heads to the smithy later to try and get work done. He may drop in on school for at least one class today, because he's trying his best to pretend this is all normal.

At some point in the day he leaves a written message, cautious to keep away from the view screen.]

Sokka here. I'm back from another kidnapping. So if you need anything at the smithy or anything, let me know. I'll get it done.

[He was already going! But he listens anyway. Somewhere in his head there's that built in 'listen to people bigger than you' conditioning at play.]

[It wasn't said to make him do anything as much as it was said to close the topic.

She glances down at his boots.]

Maybe we can do something about better fitting shoes for you. I'll have to see if they have any leather.

[He looks down at the boots too.]

They're not that loose. [An extra set of sucks should do the trick.]

[She's dubious.]

[You evil, evil sister. Why does he even need to run? He just heads into the item store, waiting for the train of humiliation to end.]

[You need to run, little big brother, because you sure can't fight, and Luceti has some not-nice people.

At any rate, in the Item Shop, she sets the clothes down on the front counter, retrieves a tape measure and a footstool.]

All right, get on this.

[He stares at the stool. It's just a reminder that he's short. He pinches the bridge of his nose.]

You can't be serious.

[Sigh.]

Sokka...

[Fiiiiiiiiine. He climbs on and crosses his arms. He's not thinking about the fact she probably needs to do this without these baggy clothes on.]

[...] You're going to need to uncross your arms, Sokka. How am I going to get any chest measurements like that?

[Would you just be practical already? Gosh.]

Well you didn't mention that before!

[No, that makes sense. He just didn't think of it. He holds his arms out to make things easier, while eying the store behind Katara. Please don't let anyone else come in...]

[She makes the measurements quickly and efficiently, marking them down on a piece of paper.]

All right, that should do it. Do you want to head back to the house now?

Yes. Yes I would.

[He hops off the stool and thanks his lucky stars they got through that without an audience.]

Let's go. [He'll lead the way!]

She has to pick up the clothes, some extra thread to make sure she'll have enough...]

[He'll feel grateful later. Maybe. He ends up waiting at the door for her. Not that he couldn't just leave on his own or anything, but...]

Hey, I'll carry that stuff.

[She shrugs.] Sure.

[And dumps about half of it into his hands. Got that, big guy?]

[Oof. That stuff is heavier than it looked. Especially since a girl holding it. Not that, you know, he's gonna make that look obvious. He shifts it around to make it easier to carry.]

[And she only gave you half of it.]

Oh, I don't know, maybe I feel like shopping some more. After all, since this is so much fun.

[Your attitude is starting to bother her, Sokka. And she starts walking out of the store. All this time she spent worried about you, and when you come back, essentially unharmed and in your right mind, you're nothing but a brat? She's unhappy.]

[He's starting to get that. Sokka lapses into silence as he follows behind her. He's unhappy about this whole situation and so far has seen nothing good about it. So part of him is wondering what's bothering her so much and why she's not being more supportive. Not that he wants help or anything. What he really wants is to pretend everything is normal.

... but it isn't. And man, this stuff is a pain to carry.]

['More supportive?' You've just doubled her workload 'little guy.' What do you want from her? Glancing sidelong... Looks like those few clothes she gave him are slowing him down. Or maybe it's the shoes.]

Yeah, I'm fine. I can do this at least. [And to think, he hasn't even had Winry and Souji drive into his head that he can't do his usual stuff yet.]

OK. [And then...she gets a horrible and evil idea. But she's not going to do it - not yet. For now, she'll just match his pace.]

[This is unbelievably awkward for him as it is. So he's quiet for awhile as they walk. He eventually breaks the silence.]
