Sokka the 58th - [Action/Voice]

[One day before his second draft. Also his second birthday in Luceti. Funny how things work out. Not that he's thinking much about the second part. He's aware of the fact he's seventeen now, but there's more important stuff to attend to today.

First on his agenda? He has 'presents' for Suki and Katara. Although they're not really typical presents. Just new weapons to help them out in the battle. He may have been saving them for a later occasion, but there's no point in that now. After his morning workout (whether it's with Master Souji or on his own), he'll have to go tracking the two of them down to make the delivery. After that, he'll also be tracking down Haruhi, most likely to her house, to deliver a certain bird into her care.

Since he's neglected it for the past week, he'll spend most of the day at the smithy. No doubt a lot of people are going to want to drop in and want to get their weapons sharpened before the big battle. He can't let Ed have all the fun, right?

At some point during the day, he decides to try and keep things light (yet slightly morbid) with a question for the journals.]

So, I guess tomorrow we get to find out if the meat we eat is also the talking kind too. Anyone have any messages they want me to pass on to next week's steak dinner?

[Sokka suspects NOTHING until the very last moment. Flailing commences until he realizes who it is, then he blinks, despite still being caught in his girlfriend's arms.]

Uhh.... Suki? [Are stealth hugs part of super dating? Is he going to have to return the favor?]

Happy birthday, Sokka! [Ha, she got you! The hug is accompanied by a peck on the cheek; with how serious things have been since the draft was announced, she figured the best present would be to get him to smile.]

[That is a great present! You know, in addition to his real present. Ahem.]

Oh... right. Thanks. [A smile. One that successfully hides the "Oh yeah I'm seventeen today." Talk about your bad timing, huh?]

[kyoshi]

[Oh right. Real present. Yes. About that.

...Actually don't think about that.]

I know it's not the best time for it, but at least we have a little time to celebrate before we go to fight.

Oh! Actually, before the celebrating? I've got something for you. Come here.

[Just heading to his room now. He was looking for her just for this reason, after all.]

...You did? [Sokka that is not how birthdays work, what in the world.]

[Sorry, he's already fetching it. He comes back, item behind his back. He'd normally make it a surprise or try to dress it up, but this is a more serious matter. So he brings it about, holding a sheathed katana in front of him.]

I was gonna save it for later, but... you might need more than just your fans out there.

[kyoshi]

Sokka... [She takes it from him eyes wide, and draws the sword from the sheath to look at it.] Did you make this...?

[markofthewise]

[It's a pretty fine looking sword. Not exactly identical to her old one, since he never got that good a look at it. But he did put an Earth Kingdom motif to it. The hilt and sheath are both a dark green, although the hilt is kind of bland. It's an unfinished work in progress, unfortunately.]

Yeah. It's not much, I need to finish some stuff on it, but it's good enough for, you know, the usual sword stuff.

[kyoshi]

[She approves anyway- it's very pretty just as it is, even moreso because he made it. She sheathes it quickly before throwing her arms around him, hugging gratefully.]

Thank you, Sokka... it looks great. And I'm sure it'll be really helpful during the fight.

[Hugs are cool. He just has a kind of dorky grin, happy to see it's appreciated.]

Hopefully you're not too rusty with one.

Rusty or not, don't underestimate a Kyoshi Warrior! [You know better than that, darling.]

[Heh, he pulls away, but only enough to face her, resting his forehead against hers.]

[She rests against him for a long, tender moment... then draws back enough to lightly flick his forehead.]

I'll re-educate you, of course. I'm still the leader, after all!

Ow! [He holds his forehead and frowns.]

I thought Aang was the leader, though.

Aang? He's just a goofy little kid! Anyway, I'm talking about Black Sun. After my dad was injured, I was the one who led the rest of the attack.

Hmm... sorry, Sokka! Full-term trumps temporary.

Ahem. Army, me. You? Band of warriors. Awesome warriors, I'll admit, but there's that whole scale thing. Besides, I'm going to be your strategist tomorrow, remember?

I wonder if I should join one of the other groups, then, if you're going to lord it over our heads... [CONSIDERING THIS.]

Anyway, take care of it! Once we're back, I'll be expecting it back so I can finish working on it.

[How could she? It really is a nice looking sword.]

Good. But now I have to think of something else for your birthday.
