[One day before his second draft. Also his second birthday in Luceti. Funny how things work out. Not that he's thinking much about the second part. He's aware of the fact he's seventeen now, but there's more important stuff to attend to today.

First on his agenda? He has 'presents' for Suki and Katara. Although they're not really typical presents. Just new weapons to help them out in the battle. He may have been saving them for a later occasion, but there's no point in that now. After his morning workout (whether it's with Master Souji or on his own), he'll have to go tracking the two of them down to make the delivery. After that, he'll also be tracking down Haruhi, most likely to her house, to deliver a certain bird into her care.

Since he's neglected it for the past week, he'll spend most of the day at the smithy. No doubt a lot of people are going to want to drop in and want to get their weapons sharpened before the big battle. He can't let Ed have all the fun, right?

At some point during the day, he decides to try and keep things light (yet slightly morbid) with a question for the journals.]

So, I guess tomorrow we get to find out if the meat we eat is also the talking kind too. Anyone have any messages they want me to pass on to next week's steak dinner?

[ she goes for mock insult. ] My hug's aren't that bad. But okay -- you've got a deal.

I'd hate to put you through something you wouldn't even enjoy.

Who says I don't enjoy hugs? [He does. Sometimes. When there's a good reason.]

Oh, no -- hugs in general? Amazing. But I understand, my hugs are way intimidating. They're just that good.

Because you break bones? The first few weeks I had the super strength, I couldn't even hug my own girlfriend.

W-well, I was gonna say because they're filled with so much love and cozy feelings but -- sure, bone-breaking works too.

In that case? Pass.

I'll just have to hope my unbroken spine will keep me company.

Unbroken spines are over-rated. Broken spines? They're going to be all the rage next season.

Really? I'll wait for you to break the trend in before I join in.

[ well...she nods, nervous of letting things get too dark. ] Take the time you have and at least...eat a birthday cupcake, got it? Otherwise I'll see you when I come back for my baby.

Uh, sure. I'll see if Regal has something at the bakery.

[But he probably won't get around to it. If he gets any cake, it'll be someone else getting it for him.]

If not, I'll try and bring you something when I get back.

Uh, yeah. I guess. You know, don't feel like you have to.

[But birthday cake, even cupcake sized, would be pretty cool. It was last year.]

See these hands? [ she waves them. ] Ain't no one slapped any obligation cuffs on me. I'll bring something 'cause I want to bring something.

...So, I'll see you later? [ she's backing towards the door. ]

Yeah, sure. I'll have your scythe done in a few hours. It'll look brand new. Or as new as an ancient weapon gets.

[ so in a few hours? buffy's back. and she even has a small cardboard box in her arms. ]

...Sokka?

[Sokka is just cleaning up, ready to go home. He looks up from sweeping, spots her, and puts the broom away.]

Hey, finally made it back.

[ she interrupts his sweeping with a casually held out box. inside are delicious things although admittedly fewer of them. five, at least, spell out sokka. ]

Took a little longer than expected, but I don't mind.

[Blink. Oh. Those do look delicious. And they do spell his name. That's pretty awesome.]

Wow. You didn't have to go to that much trouble, you know. [But, you know, he's glad you did.]

Not too much at all. I just hit up the bakery and then eyelash-batted them into some personalized decorations. I know it's not quite the same as if I baked them myself, but....believe me. You don't want my cupcakes. They're more like cup failures.

[He actually had a bakery cupcake earlier, courtesy of Haruhi. Except it wasn't from the bakery. Nevertheless, he's pleased by the gift.]
