[Sokka has some messages to knock out of the way. He doesn't bother with a filter for the first one, mainly because he feels like being somewhat of a jerk and making light of Haruhi's ridiculous relationship with her 'minions'. In spite of that, Sokka's tone is pretty flat. There's no excitement here and it's pretty obvious through the message something is bothering him.]

Hey Haruhi, feel free to send Naoki over. He can do his thing now. [Oh wait...] Uh, after Leon takes a look over it, I guess.

Uh, hey Diana. Can I ask a favor?

[This last one he almost backs out of doing. But it's been a few days now and things haven't changed. Maybe this will help.]

So... hypothetically speaking, how do you make up it up to someone you really care about for something that really hurt them when what you did... there was nothing you could do about it?

[With things so awkward at home with Suki, Sokka has been spending less time there. It's hard to spend time with your girlfriend when she's still upset with you, but being polite about it. So this leaves him working at the smithy for longer hours, actually doing homework at the library, and once more taking part in his neverending quest to find a hat that really says Sokka to him. Through all this, he is accompanied by a certain cheeky lemur hanging around on top of his head, shoulder, or getting into things he shouldn't.

He will, at least, drag himself home for dinner. Delicious, awkward dinner.]

[Okay, that's kind of true. But Mihai's suddenly pretty sure that all the badass men in the world can't save this guy. It's not hard to figure out that he means the experiment. Who knew Mihai could find a reason to count himself as one of the lucky ones?]

Just a little early. [He walks on over to where Sokka is sitting, looking curiously at Momo before averting his attention back to Sokka.] But it looks like it's been slow today.

Of course I haven't! And I don't plan on it either.

[Although this does solidify his convictions that brushing other people off about this whole thing is the way to go. He shouldn't have asked for advice.]

Yeah... pretty much everyone has already picked up their favorite weapons and I don't have any orders.

[He stands up, heading back towards the work area.]

I have them back here.

...Um. Are you sure that was the best time?

[ wince, though she shifts the journal so he can't see it. those are painfully familiar words. with a sigh ]

Sometimes you don't know. But ... pretty much until they feel better. Who knows how long it could take. You just have to hang in there.

That's really, really not the point. I didn't skip class for the sake of apologizing!

[Despite Sokka moving on to the back and obviously being focused on the containers, Leon picks up the other topic while he follows.] You do all kinds of orders?

It's not like I can't wait. I'm good at waiting.

[Story of his life, really. He's sadly oblivious to how close to home this may hit.]

It's just harder to do when she's right there.

Apparently! I've even had people ask me to do jewelry. Apparently rings and lockets are some kind of weaponry in other worlds. [Thick, thick sarcasm. It's not that he minds so much. He just doesn't want that to become frequent.]

...If you're sure! [Jeez, don't skip class!]

[ okay. she's just. gonna set the journal down for a moment so she can hold her head in her hands. sheesh, what the hell did he do, anyway?!

it takes her a moment to gather her thoughts. so ... it's a girl, living in the same house as him (apparently), and it's someone he really cares about. and he upset her in a way he claims he could do nothing about.

but still ... Sokka is her friend, a good friend, and she won't jump to conclusions about what he may or may not have done. in fact, she feels a twinge of sympathy... she knows he has a rough road ahead of him. she finally picks the journal back up. ]

... no matter what, though, you can't give up. No matter how hard it is. You can't just say sorry... you have to prove you're going to make it up, even if it's really hard. That ... that should do it.

What is the point, then?

...Rings and lockets, or magic rings and lockets? [He sounds a little bewildered, even as he looks over to the containers Sokka built.]

I guess that's what I've been going for.

[Kind of. He's mostly been opting for the space-giving. But it's not like he's dropped off the face of Luceti or anything. At least that's not how he sees it.]

Just, you know, avoiding doing anything stupid.

No no, just regular ones. [Maybe the sarcasm wasn't obvious? Either way, Sokka gives one of the containers a knock. They're solid and durable. By all counts, they should do the trick, even if they aren't the most attractive looking things around.]

The point is, she wanted to be alone.

Um, no, I meant why are you asking everyone? A proud boy like Sokka probably doesn't want to hear everyone's advice, right?

[When Sokka knocks on the container, Leon's attention turns away from the conversation and back to why he's actually there.] So were you able to make them airtight? [He goes around to look for the opening.]

[... aha, she's right. He's finding out he really doesn't. Especially given how amazing he has been at not taking any so far.]

I... guess I thought it might help.

Yup! I've checked all the seams and potential openings. Nothing's been able to seep inside. I could use them to suffocate animals if I wanted to. Although I don't know why I'd want to do that...

So you really love this person, don't you?

That sounds like a good idea. [ said with a small smile. ] I know you'll work it out, Sokka. You're a good guy! I'm sure she'll see that.

[Love. You know, despite the fact that he knew the theme of the last experiment and that he was working on a damn engagement necklace, hearing his relationship with Suki puts some things into context.]

... oh.

[Is that the way Suki realized it? An indirect confession of love by having him stuck in her body?]
